hello guys, I'm a final year student in Mechanical Engineering. I would like to try my luck in Singapore but I'm not sure whether companies there would give me a chance since I still have 7 months to go.
Any advice for me? Should I wait till I graduate or can I start scouting for opportunities now?
7 months is a little too long but you can always talk to the employer and the interviewer. I believe you should highlight that in your resume and during your job application too.
If they ask for interview, highlight to them again. If they really want you, they'll probably wait. Otherwise there's always people out there to grab the opportunity.
No harm trying though. Just that you might let chances slip since you might end up already apply most of the job positions you're interested in. If kena reject you will apply again? haha

so lets say if I am looking a room, booked appointment with agent/owner, if confirm I need to pay deposit on the spot? or pay all amount? or can pay half half? not a small amount if after conversion.
need how long for all the procedure? is it before I go Singapore already need to inform the owner/agent so I can view on the spot when I reach SG, they already prepared the doc?
Depends. For me, when I confirm, I pay one month deposit. After I move in I pay one month rental then half month commission to agent. But that's few months after I start working here I move place la. My first room here is a partitioned room which is illegal

But that kind of room has flexibility. Deposit one month + $100 for utility then just inform one month earlier to move out. Which means minimum is 2 months stay.
Btw... You can't really get anything done without your EP card unless the owner & agent is ok for you to provide your EP information after that but without the EP, you can't enter into agreement.
You probably can ask to pay just a small amount of deposit like $200 to book the room. Ask for receipt when you do so. Then when everything is confirmed and you got your EP, go ahead and pay remaining deposit and enter into agreement. You can't rent a room legally with just your passport.

I dun think booking will work. Its more like first come first serve basis. You can view what ever the agent have on that day itself. Confirm already pay agent fees, deposit & rental. Sign agreement. If you are not decisive, there's always other ppl waiting.
But i thought the market is quite stagnant right now. I dragged two weeks when I was looking for room back in January and all still available for me to pick haha

Wanna ask, I got an offer which qualifies me to get both type of passes. But from what I read, E-Pass is mainly for employees with >3.4k which is higher than my offer. So what are the chances to get E-Pass approved?
**My future employer S-Pass quota has finished.
You degree holder or??
If degree holder (not sure about diploma) they probably give you EP. Otherwise maybe MOM will only give S Pass. If S Pass quota max then too bad.
