The stock tyres, BAX2, is tested to be one of the best
wet grip 205/55 R16 tyres, just below PS3.

Here...Uneven wear usually happens to the front. The way I see it, I've driven it hard, plus the weight of this vehicle and that somehow mine needs frequent alignment.
Fact is, tyre noise will increase over the lifespan, but more importantly this tyre does not degrade in performance towards its end.
I've driven it as front tyres with the tyre tread already at safety mark in the rain. In the end, I've replaced them with another pair of BAX2.
For Exora Bold, the best tyre size is the stock one for balanced treadwear, wet/dry grip.
Ideally, can go up by one rim size which is R17, but this will increase FC and costs more per tyre change.
R18 may start to cause poor grip and handling. I've managed to find a website that tried same car (not Exora of course), same tyre model with different rim sizes to find the sweet spot.
My consideration is based on the following, in order of importance:
- Wet Grip, Treadwear Rating, Dry Grip, Price, Warranty
I compared the BAX2 with the following:
- Hankook Ventus V2 - My 2nd option. Treadwear 400.
- Falken ZE912/ZE914 - 3rd option, need to order.
- Toyo Nanoenergy 3 - next option.
Some comments about other tyres I've looked into and findings after visited several tyre shops:
- Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002 - more expensive, very short treadwear rating. Traction reduces significantly over lifespan.
- Bridgestone Ecopia EP200 - more expensive, eco tyres. Indonesia made with no UTGQ labels. Questionable tyres...
- ContiMaxContact - super expensive, poor grip over lifespan
- Good Year NCT5 - same price. Average Joe tyres. so-so review.
- Good Year Assurance AG2 (Armor Guard) - more expensive, less grip, poor reviews.
- Good Year Assurace TripleMax - more expensive, so-so review.
- Michelin XM2 - About same price, eco tyre.
- Michelin PS3 - RM400 tyres... the best. KIV option.
- Silverstone Atlantis V7 - more expensive. Poor reviews. Supposedly using Toyo technology.
- Yokohama BluEarth AE02 - more expensive. Good review. KIV option.
- Pirelli Cinturato P1 - slightly more expensive. good reviews. Stock available are China made...
- Toyo DRB
- Viking brand - Continental brand tyres. more expensive.
I got the BAX2 for RM270 including valve, balancing, alignment, and GST.
I'm surprised you sticked to BAX. Once I went in SC and got a few preve police cars in for regular checks. the bax tyres are in very bad shape. wears are uneven. rubbers are hard. I complain about the loud cabin sound and sc just confirm all the bax behave like that after prolonged usage.
i'm using ventus v2 at the front. this one has good traction rating (AA) and 500 threadwear. It's quite noisy however.
for rear, a pair of michelin 3st. this one for comfort. almost noiseless and grip is pretty good wet/dry. I'm avid user of michelin xm1/xm2, mainly for quiteness and very long life. performance does not degrade much over time. 3st is my first pair, so far so good.
