QUOTE(tishaban @ Aug 27 2014, 10:00 PM) Samsonite is crap. I've bought their expensive stuff and they still break. My last bag is a Delsey and I've been very happy with it although I only travel 1-2 times per year. If you're buying for work and travel a lot then get something that has lifetime warranty. Many people swear by Briggs & Reilly or Victorinox lifetime warranties. Again you can buy one bag every time the old one breaks or you can buy a good one up front and have them fix it anytime it breaks. It's a personal choice. Hi tishaban, Any shops you recommend in klg valley for B&R/Victorinox Thanks!

QUOTE(NahseK312 @ Nov 27 2014, 01:03 AM) Thanks. Do they have boutiques/shops in Klang Valley? These two brands did come up in my research! No authorized Briggs Riley dealer in msia, nearest is Singapore KL has a shop for victorinox use the store locator http://www.victorinox.com/us/content/store_finderSamsonite not good but since I pay only usd$60-70 for those big check in bags I can't complain about the quality. Even tumi is not good more branding Rimowa is good but they expensive unless u from online from German retailers This post has been edited by patryn33: Nov 27 2014, 03:01 AM

Victorinox seems ok, not too expensive either. I just want a hassle-free cabin bag that can hold my ginormous office laptop

Just to update you guys, Cuir Boutique in Pyramid sells a few good brands (Barry Smith, Victorinox and Antler) with warranties up to 10 years (Antler). The prices can be negotiated a lot as well. I thought I got a good bargain - bought an Antler and Barry Smith for about RM770.
There is a Barry Smith outlet in Pyramid as well. They sell Barry Smith, Victorinox and Antler with similar discount rates, but Cuir Boutique gave further discounts.
Victorinox had the exact cabin bag that I was looking for but unfortunately it was RM1.5k++.

I generally like luggages made by American Tourister or Antler. They come with 10 years warranty, and generally on 30-50% off sales at Metro and Parkson. A dodgy luggage can be a surefire way to ruin a holiday experience if they break on the way to your destination - even if you are covered by travel insurance.
For short trips, I generally like the 50L hybrids (roller with shoulder straps). This size means you don't need to check it in. These can generally be found from any reputable camping store.

Antler is a good choice, can't say that with barry Smith.

first.. u have to decide if you want zip type or clam shell type. clam shell type usually is harder due to the design. but hard also means you cannot expand much when you are overloaded with clothes or stuff.
if you are loaded = go for samsonite, rimowa, tumi. american tourister is the budget version of samsonite.
i have used antler, delsey, valentino creations, all of them is working fine so far. but all my bags only dated around 10 years max. but i spent like average 20 ~ 30 trips per year to middle east and eu.
my aunt samsonite which has lasted her around 20 years now and it is still going strong.

Thanks Mod Luggage sales everywhere.. you will see it in many malls in Klang Valley.. Anyway, no recommnedation from me as I'm more on backpack rather than heavier luggages...Backpack.. lighter and much more suitable for those budget airlines with weight limitation

Any suggestion where is the best place to get genuine and good price hard side light luggage in KL ... As for now, no budget and open for any reliable brand I just bought a Barry Smith 20" carry on hardside roller bag for RM156 after discount at Isetan exactly 8 days ago, brought it walking all over Seoul on my first day I arrived and after a week it's still in decent shape. For the price I highly recommend it. Isetan and Parkson both had decent sales for luggage, American Tourister had a very nice 20" carry on that looked bigger but it was RM400 and I couldn't afford it. However if you have a choice, get a roller bag with 2 larger wheels at each corner ie. Rimowa style wheels. Of course if you don't have a price limit and can get a Rimowa then by all means go for it.

i have experienced using camel 28" and survived for 13 years. travel to australia, us, europe, hk and many parts of the world. maybe not as good as samsonite but now was thinking either to again buy camel or to buy american tourister or other average brand. camel 28" is priced at RM 400 at AEON/Jusco after discount. any opinion on this

You can consider brands like Deuter, Karrimor, Osprey, Kelty. Try look up Madam Sia at Pertama Complex. Her shop is quite popular for those looking for packs. Good luck! Garrison Packs
