Hi everyone. Im just starting to venture to the folding bike world. Still looking for my first foldie. My budget is about 1k. The option in my mind is the dahon suv d6, raleigh ugo and xds afb270. My heart was incline to dahon, but the suv d6 frame is hi ten steel, compare to the other two which is made by alloy. I will use my bike to commute to work(14km one way) which combine flat and hilly routes. I also plan to upgrade my bike parts in the future especially in adding the gear. Is the dahon entry level bike sufficient? Appreciate if the sifus and members can give me your views on which bike i should buy. I am really excited for this!!

Hi..can anyone help to recommend me a good and fast folding bike?range budget around 2k and below..thanks alot

I find that dahon ( mine is dahon route) is so much easier to lock and quick to fold too if comparing to my java fit and IRA. For that price range, you can't really go wrong with dahon.
I believe tern are as good too but I don't have idea cause I don't own one.

When you are new to cycling, there's one guarantee.....your butt WILL hurt biggrin.gif

Through all my years of riding, only two saddles suited me, the Selle Royal Viper and Brooks B17. I'v just bought a Brooks Swift for one of my bikes and i have to say the B17 is still better. Brooks saddles take a while to break in, but after that you don't even think about it anymore.

Everyone's different so you will know when you have found the right one.

sometime ago, i did discuss that saddle makers should provide test sample for consumers, some say it is difficult to make it work,

but at least one brand is doin it now , fizik.

last time saw giant pj got fizik test saddle, u pay, take it home to test, return back and get your refund.

Saddle pricing is really subjective to how yr butt respond to the curvature of the saddle versus how much ur paying for the "pain". Unfortunately everyone's butt anatomy is different so it u can find a sample saddle to try for a week, then it's great. If not then it might be an expensive trial & error. I've had lots of friends using brooks & yes, they all seem to hv nice things to say. Initially all butts will hurt when you're new to Cycling no matter what saddle u use. I'd suggest after buying a saddle, that u tahan & use it for at least 2 months to properly judge whether a saddle fits u.

How do I fit a 20" foldie into a myVi trunk? Is it possible if I don't want to kacau the back seat of the car? icon_question.gif

like etigge said, just take off the back parcel, fold you bike and put it in, get something to hold it to make sure the bike won't move when you break or cornering.
My C7S always in my Myvi, not big issue.

saddle brand and type is a subjective for most people. my friend got money and bought the fizik saddle that cost around rm600. unlucky for him, he cannot use the saddle and lastly he give to his little brother.lucky also he had a little brother who also like to cycle..at last, he only bought rm80 velo brand saddle and use it until now..

like me,
the brooks saddle also a bit paint if i cycle (without cycling paded pants) more than 100km per session even though the saddle had been "break in". but lucky for me my brooks saddle (both b17 and c17), are good to go when cycle below 50km without any cycling pants.otherwise i feel wasting my money if i can't use the saddle..

another saddle that can fit me is my selle royal seta.cost around below rm80, that saddle really comfort comparing to my biologic saddle (verge original saddle) when cycle more than 100km and that saddle is my favourite saddle on ny roadbike..

but to tell u the truth, u cant pedal straight foward more than 100km without any rest unless ur butt are made from steel laugh.gif the most effective to ride in a group and test ur friend bike.maybe a bit different in fitting (for other type of bike), but u may get a first impression on that saddle. besides, get a used one to save ur cost. most people will sell their saddle if the saddle didnt fit them nicely as i saw many fizik saddle for sale laugh.gif
