QUOTE(rave master @ Sep 23 2007, 03:25 PM) My Maxis wireless 768 speed seems to be deteriorating day by day. When i first subscribe it, it can reach 170kB/s. Now only max 110kB/s. Whats wrong with that. You're getting what you're paying for what. They have just capped the line so that its fair for the restAnd they seems to change to 3 type of packages now. Now mine is power package. Wonder how can i get the modem show on their page. it looks really nice. And the power package shows can reach 3.6Mbps, which means 400kB/s. Now my speed is only a quarter of it. What is ur speed guys? |

Well I am getting 600Kbps++ (the max it can go is like 1.4Mbps). I am quite happy with it to tell you the truth. Like hyperyouth_firepower said , topography kicks in.
They don't really disconnect you. Its just that they kick you to UMTS/EDGE/GPRS whenever you are Idle (No data sent/recieved for a certain period of time). It goes same for my mobile phone as well. Whenever I'm Idle , it automatically jumps from HSDPA to UMTS. But once there is any sort of activity , it quickly gets back to HSDPA. Its a very ingenious way to prevent 'Idlers' from occupying the 'slots'. There aren't many 'slots' in HSDPA. Imagine if idlers suck all the slots in HSDPA , this does not allow 'authentic' users to enjoy the speed. Maxis knows how to manage their bandwidth (Thumbs up). But then they have major problems with their International Link. They should really work on that Oh radio waves travel in the form of longitudinal waves. As you know waves can be reflected , diffracted , deflected , and absorbed. So there are many factors why you can't get 100% of your subscribed speed (apart from network congestion). This is why I did not blame JARING for my slow speeds lately because of the uber-develompent in the Setapak Area (soo many high-rise condos). It absorbs signal , making it 'weaker'... |

Dude , what you expect
Wireless is known for its latency. You still need a normal wired connection if you want to play games Have you seen hardcore gamers using Satellite broadband to play games ? No , you did not get me . That USB Modem can't connect to a router or so. For that you need to opt (get) the standard modem. They dont give you two modems |

![]() Do it yourself for your maxis for those of you that are having connectivity issues (i.e low signal). This may help to boost the signal http://www.metacafe.com/watch/720362/how_t...olic_reflector/ - Video http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html |

Maxis uber sucks lately. Either they are overselling it or they are upgrading.
BEST OF ALL - THEY DO NOT ADMIN THEIR FAULT . Their router was down today but they aren't admiting its their fault. Clearly ping and traceroute shows that its down. But they are blaming me because I'm using MacOS X and the modem does not support Mac. Cock and bull story |

Not worth it Honestly..Now their local line sucks too.....I dont know what they are doing. Now if they are going to play like that. I am going to use my Router to clog up their line little bit. So that they can't disconnect me

Now , the speed is slow
It does not connect to my regular base station. Instead it connects to their new UMTS/HSDPA Base Station , cause its regular ID has changed and the speed is somewhat slow |
