Sadly in Msia, AppleCare + protection is not available that will enable any iPhone bought in Msia, even online, to be replaced twice (2 times) with a new one over a 24 months period for whatever the reasons.

To qualify for AppleCare + protection, you need to buy the protection within 60 days from date of purchase.

and even with applecare, i heard you cannot claim in malaysia since it's not available here... not sure how true it is.. anyone can clarified? those who bought apple care from overseas..

That's correct. Can claim in any country that offers AppleCare + which is therefore as close to an undisputed international warranty as you can get from Apple.

The closest AppleCare + country closest to Msia is Spore. Still worth the trip there after paying about RM390 for AppleCare + to exchange for 2 brand new iPhone 6 Plus 64 gb costing RM3,149 each lol.

Over a 24-month period from date of purchase, you can claim for 2 new phones replacement if phone is no longer functional or acceptable to you. For example, a broken screen or phone was dropped in water/toilet or wine/kopi spilled onto phone or phone damaged in gym/robbery etc etc. Accidental and freak breakages are not covered by the normal 12 months warranty. Apple charges nearly RM1.2k for a screen replacement for a Plus under normal warranty.

AppleCare + does not specify under what circumstances you can make the 2 claims - it's your entitlement. Loss and theft are not covered.

Disclaimer: do check carefully into AppleCare + terms and conditions before you buy notwithstanding what's said above.

But remember, AppleCare + is NOT available in Msia, and cannot be honored in Msia. Until it's available, whatever you do just don't end up with a smashed screen. Ouch!

I will still buy online as I have 2 weeks no question ask refund policy, and I can bring to any resellerand they have to layan me. If don't like machines, I can just go to Mac city, studio or switch.
The advantage is definitely there.
So in summary, within 2 weeks defect, Apple online 1-1 replace.
If after 2 weeks, bring any local service center, either repair or 1-1 replace. Items bought from Apple online they do not practice replacing with refurbished units, unlike telco or resellers.

Actually come to think of it, I would have been screwed if I bought from machines and not Apple online. What happened is machines done internal checking already informed me they have rejected my warranty claim due to their "suspicious" I modified my new 2.5 weeks phone. I am no longer eligible for 1-1 swap. Warranty process dictates they will not even attempt to repair modified phones even if I paid for the service. They will just return to u. Furthermore the part holding together the battery missing is not sold separately by machines nor Apple.
I rejected on machines findings, called Apple online to complain. Apple gave me a new ticket number, tell me to use that case to get it replaced. Apple will cover. If machines still dowan to replace, Apple inform I can go to other resellers.
Imagine if I had bought from machines, I am stuck with machines sucky warranty service(go to their machines service center fb wall to see all the negative reviews). And cannot go to Apple nor other resellers.

Sure la didn't modify. Use happily but after 2.5 weeks, battery longgar. Rattle inside. Machines open up inside and terkejut. Apparently the battery only use double side tape stick.
They straight away suspect I sent some where to modify my new phone.
I screwed them upside down ask who so stupid to do that to new phone. It's a production line issue where 1 unit forgot to put gum.
They still put their "suspicious" findings into the report to Apple. What can I do? No more buying from machines anymore. Remember if we buy from hem, all claims have to go through the same monkey machines service center.

That is the clearly stated return policy on Iphones purchased from Apple Store Online. So you should consider it before you make your purchase.

And what about data collection? Apple Malaysia/Singapore need to ensure the faulty unit need to be a product from their region, otherwise it will affect the data within the region.

Let's look at another scenario.

Apple China - 100 units 20 faulty
Apple Malaysia/SG - 100 units 10 faulty

If the 100 units are brought in from china and sold in Malaysia. If its allowed to be claimed in Malaysia, that would means out of 100 units, there are 30 units faulty which is 30%. The 100 units from Apple Malaysia/SG is registered under them while the other 100 brought in by resellers are not. This will mess up the data.

These are my thoughts if I put myself in a their shoes.

I never did raise any issue of who and where and why and should or should not Resellers like Machines help send overseas units for RMA on behalf of customers. I have already clearly stated many times in previous posts that Only Iphone purchased from overseas that are possible to be RMA'ed here in Malaysia resellers are Apple Store Singapore units. I do not wish to go into these topic anymore.

Im saying that if your unit "qualifies" to be RMA'ed by local resellers here, Resellers here should not question the authencity of the phone as they should know better after checking the origins of the phone. If the resellers were to refuse any 'qualified" RMA units, maybe they should review the terms and conditions of the contracts signed with Apple.

hai guys i would like to know, i buy iphone 6+ 16gb from sengQ and less than a month i notice my after i capture a video the smoothest of optical images stabilizer OIS its not funtions

so i ask sengQ there ask me to go DIGI to claim waranty,if i go today to claim is it i can get 1 on 1 replacement exchange? they give me new set or refurbish ?

Apple calls its Replacement set a "SEED UNIT". Up to you to think if its a new, used or refurbished unit. tongue.gif
