i see.. thanks for the suggestion, sorry for the confused apple to orange comparison, did u changed your engine mounting and which brand that u used/ recommend for change bro?
*
I changed original. That's was already rm900 for 3 mounts not inclusive of installation. Installation was about rm150. That was 4 years ago.

Last year i changed only the biggest large mount. But i got Tanchong/Autoplus. Rm180/mount. Installation was rm50 i think, i cannot remember. It's a bit softer, can feel some vibration on the steering wheel. At least it didn't rattle the bonnet.

You used to say that you usually change the biggest mounting only right? correct me if im wrong? or was it the gearbox mounting side?
*
I did replace one whole set the first time. After that i think it's more economical just to change one piece, especially the biggest mounting if want to go back to original piece. I buy Tanchong just to test and see only. It's alright, soft, so still can feel some vibration. Cheap so I can't complain.

What i know is usually the gearbox mount would break 1st. Before u can even complain about the big engine mount. These two mounts if dying it would show an obvious vibration.
The thing i never heard had issue before was the "dog bone" mount. That one if got problem i guess you probably would hear a klunk when you accelerate forward or reverse.

Oic.. do u mean usually the gearbox mount will need to be changed earlier than the big engine mount? Cos now I only change the big 1 only.. still can feel a bit vibration early morning.. not sure need to replace gearbox mount as well or not.. hmm.gif

Not really la. It really depends on luck. No one knows which item will kaput first. Since the car isn't new anymore better to only change what is broken.

Can anyone advise on the below issue for Almera 2014?

1) The tachometer (RPM) seems to be faulty
- When start car every morning, the RPM will show 0. After car warm up a bit and restart car, it will back to normal between 6 ~ 8. Sometimes need to restart few times for it to go up 6 ~ 8. When off the car, sometimes the needle will stuck at above 0.
Do i need to change the whole meter? How much would it costs?

2) Aircond switch
- When turn on aircond, the wind will blow at foot, while the setting is blow face direction. According to TCS advisor, the switch to control the vent is faulty and it costs about RM600. Anybody has this experience and how much it costs to change the switch?

3) Car paint
- What is the current market price to repaint whole car? Including fixing some dents.

Thanks in advanced!!

I think there's some wiring/contact problem. Hopefully it's not the meter faulty. It's not normal that there's no signal or input. I think halfcut rm600-900 depending on which meter the E spec or V/VL spec

If you have an automated AC. There's a high chance the actuator have some contact issue. You can try remove the module, open it up. Try clean and bend the pins. Regrease the gears. The worse case is the plastic gears inside broke. If that happens... U need to buy a new module.

Car paint... I think need 3k-4k plus... For a good paint job. It may take 14 days since it's rainy season now. Anything less than 2.5k... probably use cheap top coat that will yellow over time. Or they just paint everything but the roof.

Yup, inspection. The engine block should show signs of wetness or at least some parts become black (oil+dirt). Check the back of the engine, could be hidden) Mostly will either be gasket hardening (valve gasket or timing chain cover) or flywheel oil seal.
If nothing... Then need to investigate more

So far didn't notice any sign of oil leak.. just the engine oil not at max level after run for more than 5k km.. initially thought it's normal to consume engine oil when reach high mileage..

3 months i can reach 7k.. 5k may be around 2 months? Now i still using 5w-30.. would prefer fully synthetic to avoid the hassle of keep going for service.. maybe will try 5w-40 and see how's the condition next time..

The engine is approaching 200,000 kilometers, the oil scraper ring usually falls off and needs a thorough overhaul

If the oil consumption not severe I think i will just drive 1st.. overhaul will cost quite a lot and i m not sure worth or not to do it..
