First time 5,000km is use mineral oil.
After that every 10,000km is fully synthetic oil.
For me, i always inform them no need any booster.
*
Can I say I want to use mineral oil all the way even use it for 10,000km service interval ?

do you think TC will risk himself just to earn you single buck?
sometime moderate is just enough, don't be too extreme on the paper spec.
*
Today's quality of mineral oil is goid for 10,000km service interval. I don't see the point of using any other oil other than more expensive. Correct me uf I am wrong here. After all our engine is just a run of the mill 1.5L with no forced induction technology. Cheers.

Bro, they claimed only fully synthetic can 10,000km service interval which won't destroy the engine
*
Bro, Toyota and Honda never have this issue to use mineral oil for up to 10,000km service interval.

Is it stated in writing by Tan Chong or Nissan that Almera myst use Fully Synthetic engine oil if one wants to have 10,000 km servixe interval if not warranty is null and void ?

it's a common sound in almera. Gas going through compressor. Only happens when you start the engine and switch on the aircon

aircon service interval should be around 30k if i'm not wrong? Can be dragged till 40k, however, not recommended.

You might not want to accumulate or drag your aircon service till 40k as it would total up to a huge amount.
ATF drain easily would cost you close to Rm300 in sc. + aircon + lube service + brake servicing it would cost easily 800-1000.

20k can opt for oil change and brake caliper and bracket cleaning.
30k i recommend air condition evaporator cleaning, filter change and recharging, if you have extra cash, go for an engine flush and throttle cleaning, would have accumulated carbon by then.
40k atf + (brake fluid optional)

Bro,
Our Almera comes with aircon filter ? Is it located inside the glove compartment ?

yalar that one lo. all cars will have it, if not everyday makan dust. hahaha.
Go SC change expensive...RM 50. Paper only...buy outside. Those with carbon filter which is slightly better also cost around this price.

It is called cabin filter, right ? Honda selling for RM100. Anyway I think carbon filter and paper type are the same function right ?

It's not about the brand of oil, rather the durability and viscosity of the oil.

SC uses idemitsu 0w20, that is actually not a bad spec oil for city driving.
If you are more of an aggressive driver, i would recommend xw30, where x may represent 0 to 10. In this case we are living in warm country so it is unlikely that we have to cold start in freezing environment.

Never wait till you hit the 10k km mark if you plan to upkeep your car in good condition. Fully or semi doesn't matter. Certain semi outperform fully synthetic oil. The difference lies in the oil characteristic and quality. (OCI) - oil change interval, Semi's OCI is 7k, fully is 10k. Semi is cheaper.

Engine oil should perform 3 basic function, which is:
Protect
lubricate
cool down engine

Certain oil would likely to breakdown at 3-5k mark. Once it is broken, it cannot perform the 3 functions above. Which is why you would feel the difference once you have your engine oil changed.

I would recommend liqui moly 10w30 mos2. It's a semi, but outperforms fully and is a good bang for bucks. It doesn't break down that quickly and retains its viscosity even at high temp. Best of all, mos2 is a very good additive that lubricates exceptionally.
Most stores selling around RM130 for 4 litres.
*
Bro,
Can we bring our own EO for servicing ? This mos2 can use for 10K KM service interval ?

It's semi. So recommend OCI is 7k.
Can be stretched to 10k, not recommended but if you insist, perform an engine flush. Without is fine too. I prefer to be on the safe side.
Mos2 is a super lubricant, it reduces wear and tear, does not have much properties on preventing sludges.
The engine flush is to ensure that sludge gets removed from engine.

I recommend lambda primer. It is not a detergent based engine flush, it is a primer, it dissolves carbon and sludges slowly. WHen you drain the engine oil, those dirts travel along.
Pour into engine and can drive around for a day. So badass, whereas typical engine flush you can't do that.

Else stick to idemitsu if you want a daily city drive engine oil. ow20 or 5w30 is fine.

Edit: Yes, you can bring it to sc to have them pour for you. However if you are still under warranty, they will give you the bullshit talk of voiding your warranty.
*
Hi Bro,
Thank you so much for sharing here. How did you manage to talk to the SC into allowing you to bring your own EO ? What do you think of ThreeBond ?

I no longer service my car with SC. expensive.
You just let them know.

Threebond is good. Cleans intake valves. recommended to get it treated once in a while, 15/20k.
Engine flush is different from threebond. One cleans the valves, the other inside the combustion chamber and basically where the engine oil travels.

Hi Bro,
where can I get the Lambda Primer ?

My car so far already reached 22k milage. So far so good. Facelift 2015 E auto. I never liked keyless start cars. I guess it feels like less maintainence to care. Only problem was some minor rattling on the exhaust when I bought it... just tighten screw was ok. Radio signal not that strong outside klang valley but I dont use it much.
After using it for a year... only difference is it got noisier but that can be solved with refuelling RON97. Its not a bad car if you want space inside. Of course its underpowered when fully loaded. You pay for space and economic performance.
Anyone got problems with the facelift models?
*
My car is 2015 VL model bought in June. Mileage is 16000km. Thus far no issues with the car. Spacious and quiet engine. Using Ron95. Cheers.

I have being using this Almera for almost a year now with a mileage of closing to 18,000km. So far no complaint, at least if there is; it will be the usual known defective parts that could be replaced accordingly. What's wrong with the built quality ?

I know of other made which has suspension knocking issue from day one which until today it is not rectified not even with replacement of parts.

Cheers.
