anyone using this sound insulation rubber strip?
does it work? does it reduce outside sound when you drive?

and anyone installed this adjustable armrest in their almera?
how's the quality of it? and how well it fits into the upholder?

thanks
*
Yeah i bought the armrest before, not to say its bad... but its not firm. it will flex a bit if you push a lot of force on it. But the most irritating thing is the handbrake, the armrest obstruct your hand to pull and relase the handbrake. unless you dont use the handbrake much should be fine. i removed it afetr using it for few months.
No comment on the rubber strip, but the gap on the almera is kinda small to begin with. the sound form the window and tyres bothers me more than the door. i dont see a need to buy the rubber strip.

Yup most of the sound is from tyre & window.
If too silent worry cant hear the defect bearing & also defect motor fan abnormal sound which is compulsory defect for Almera . rclxm9.gif

Queck question: what is the top speed of Almera?

I am thinking to buy an Almera but 1 thing concern me is the rumous of it is underpower. I bought this car is mainly for outstation and how fast and how stable when it overtake a few trailers on highway is my main concern.

Any idea?

Haha, why on earth would someone want to buy a econ car to speed. The car is quite high, suspension is on comfort. I dont recommend it if you comparing to proton preve/suprima stability and power output. Power its good for me you can overtake with ease on NSE. No comment on east coast roads. I tried driving to JB at 140-160kmph its good but you hv to drive really alert because the steering seems to be moving a bit. I never drive like that anymore. Engine and wind sound I cannot tahan. Makes the engine heats up alot. 120kmph is easy to achive. Of course 90-110kmph is most economic 5.5l/100km (KL-Ipoh). But yeah I cant answer you the top speed, I didnt push it harder. 160kmph is my limit... not the car's limit.

Totally agree. Buy this car if you like the space, but for handling, and power, it's far from it. The steering calibration makes it difficult to make precise handling. You can opt for wider tyres and lower suspension to counter some issues but it's still far from confident overtaking.

I dont speed, as I said "how fast and how stable when it overtake a few trailers on highway" is my main concern.

During in NSHW sometime you are force to overtake a few trailers at one time and that is the only time I speed. I am now driving Myvi 1.3S. The steering start to act funny when it reach 130km/h. Thats why I need to change car.

I heard Almera is "ünderpower" so I worried it dont react / accelerate fast enough when I want to overtake a few trailers. But if it can reach 140 or 150 km/h easily and stable at this speed, it is good enough for me.

I see. Well if you only want to overtake on NSE then should be fine. Facelift gearbox is very much better than the old generation. The old one was very dead feedback, underpowered. Compared to the myvi, as a passanger at high speeds its much more comfortable, just missing the low speed acceleration in city driving. At first you will feel a bit lack of power (because my 1st car was a manual), but after your body gets used to the car behaviour. You know how to push your car. After a few drive... the car will change to your driving style.
Get a test drive. If the location is good maybe the sales person will let u drive on the highway.
I cant say its stable at 130+++ but thats just me. The car is high and big, it sways a bit if you are too near to the trailer. My mind start to panic since I also rarely drive more than 130, and my model only got one airbag... its all in my mind. Haha. Still its a good car to drive no regrets.

Well I dont know on paper. I had test drive both versions. When it was just launched, you floor the pedal and only after 3 sec it started to growl... but its not a good pickup either. Then, I tried the facelift, floored the gas, and way better pickup and reaction. I can only trust my own experience. Plus the SA at the time said they tweek the gearbox... so up to u to trust the SA words.

seriously, i wont think TC put effort on tuning the AT gearbox, it's not a CVT that can tuned by software.

Bro, all I can suggest for u is to go for a test drive and compare a few of them. Everyone has their own preferences. Some of them said its under power and some said its enough for their usage. For me, I have no problem over taking on highways and on hilly roads. Comfort wise, it's really comfort. IF u drive it like a sane person, it's smooth and quiet. Went out for dinner with my grandpa just now. Park in front of the coffee shop and I forgot to switch off the engine. Then my grandpa told me the wiper was still on and I was curious why would the wiper can still operate even when I've already switch off the car. When I got nearer to my car. Then only I can notice that my car was still on. Problem wise, nothing major except faulty fan motor and bearing issues. Still within my acceptance. Driven it since 2013 June. So this is my comment on the car. Hope this may help u a bit in choosing the car of ur choice.
