Today someone told me via Google Plus how to install Gear Manager on non-Samsung mobiles. His name is Serge Berig. So 100% Credits go to him. I am just posting here what he posted in Google Plus. His Phone is Moto X and Mine in LG G2. Worked perfectly fine.

My Test Scenarios:
1. LG G2 D802 Rooted. Rooting is not required as his Moto X is unrooted.
2. I am using a separate SIM on Gear S.
3. I have disabled mobile data and Wifi on both Gear S and my mobile

How it Works:

1. Download Gear Manager Latest Version and GearManagerStub.apk from this link:

2. Download these APK Files:

3. Move these files to your phone.

4. 1st install Gear Manager, then GearManagerstb.apk, then all remaining apks.

5. Open Gear Manager on your phone and viola. It connects, Resets your Gear S in case you used it before and as far as i checked everything Works


I did not test each and everything. As far as i know most thing works. Previously i had "Connecting Forever" Issue, now it connects straight away. I am using my Gear S as complete independent to Mobile Calls and SMS from my Mobile. I have not set any forwarding options or notification for Call and SMS from my mobile to Gear S.

What's not Working:
1. Can't Transfer Music/Images from Phone

I was successful rooted Gear S for DoCoMo Japan version.
I think that it can be rooted in the same procedure in the other models .

1. Download firmware
2. Extract tar.md5
3. Mount rootfs.img in Linux
4. copy files (attached file - GearS_Rooted.tar)
cp su ${mountfolder}/bin/su
chmod 755 ${mountfolder}/bin/sh
cp vconf-init ${mountfolder}/etc/rc.d/init.d/vconf-init
chmod 755 ${mountfolder}/etc/rc.d/init.d/vconf-init

5 umount rootfs.img
6 tar -H ustar -c rootfs.img > rootfs.img.tar
7 md5sum rootfs.img.tar >> rootfs.img.tar
8 rename rootfs.img.tar.md5
9 Push Gear S Button while Reboot
10 select Download mode
11 write rootfs.img.tar.md5 with odin

Really interested where samsung is going with their wearables... Guess no point now in buying the gear 2 and samsung will be wise not to make gear 3 as there is no point , is like going backwards...

Still the major issue is only compatible with samsung phones... which is SAD as not everyone in the whole world uses only samsung in their life...

i mean can i still use whatsapp or wechat wehenever they appear on the gear app store ? oh wait i still need a samsung phone to access the gear app store rite like gear 2......?  i dont care about notifications i just hope i can use it to use some apps , send messages without connecting to samsung phone..

but since samsung add a sim card for this gear s , it seems to be able to go fully independant...   and it has a full qwerty keyboard...
does it support 3g data usage?  battery life wont survive long i guess

finally after a week of searching n trying n totally gave up. this thread appears and got my gear s pairing with my g flex. but need to forgo apps like opera mini..and other essentials since I can't see any apps in Galaxy apps store even when i installed the apk. pity...
I guess it's never perfect till u get another galaxy phone.
curse u samsung...
