IMO, in terms of affordability with good cashback/reward, [low/entry level] MBB Islamic Ikhwan then [low-mid] M2C then [mid-high] HLB Wise are good choices.

all these cards are within reasonable reach by most ppl with RM30-40k per annum income.

suggestions by sj0217, DarReNz and supersound above are valid and depends on each individual's personal preferences (e.g. rewards, customer service, efficiency, etc)

if only MBB Islamic Ikhwan card has signup promo similar to M2C biggrin.gif then this card is fairly good until next year's GST implementation.

side note: too bad public transport still bad, personal transport dependency on petrol is still very high, thus any cashback for petrol category would be very much appreciated.

side note 2: let's hope by next year's GST, MBB wont introduce AF to their cards (taxable). be watchful with current signup promo or rewards that spans until 1st April 2015 (GST implementation). there could be new mechanism/"control" on new signup requirements after 1st April. hmm.gif

is it wise to apply for this card prior to gst or after?
*
check with MBB if there is signup promo rebate.

if yes, then makes no difference applying now or later, cuz you're not paying anything this year and coming next year (year 2), svc tax no more liao, and no 6% GST to the AF (this card is AF-free).

MBB Ikhwan got both Mastercard and Visa.Mine is Visa.My wife use Mastercard.Different is,Visa is more beneficial to Petronas customers.Max 8x treat points when you refuel at Petronas.Mastercard give cashback regardless of petrol station.also gives 1x treatpoints.

i was replying based on these specific cards within this topic... Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan Gold/Platinum Card-i ... which gives 5% cashback on petrol and groceries on Friday and Saturday, capped at maximum of RM50.00 per customer per month. sweat.gif
