Thanks Benny, wanna ask one question. I read many forums still cannot get the answer. If I root it, will it trigger the knox straightaway?

QUOTE(rcr @ Oct 29 2014, 08:17 PM) This is why I will never ever buy the G3 and Note4 My understanding of game architecture is that you probably won't see one for mobile in at least another 2 years.2k display is just a waste of battery life. Tell me one game that supports native 2k reso? If you want to display a nice scene in 2k, you need the bitmaps to wrap the polygons. Larger bitmaps = more space. Look at Bard's Tale....3.5gb and it wasn't even fhd at the time. Space is a constraint and so is the gpu framebuffer. |

QUOTE(edtai @ Oct 29 2014, 08:27 PM) Guys, that's the new record for my Note4. Today i need to charged two times my phone from 15% to 100%. Each SOT is only about 2hr 5mins. After checking it, a "IndexService" become the "champion" to cause my phone charged two times and the phone w/o charging it just hot like a piece of cake which just came out from oven. I love you Samsung Note4!! This is my first time experiencing the hot Note. Yes....same for me too. F'ing IndexService. Had to keep checking to kill it. I'm not rooted either. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Oct 29 2014, 08:48 PM) Never had any wifi issues in my home P1 network. Had tested the Note 4 at Old Town in LowYat, various cafes too at BP shopping malls and McD Uncle, could you try finding what is this IndexService with Titanium and freeze it? We'd like to know what impact it has when frozen. It's waking and messing with the battery. I've also swapped my sdcard but it's still showing. edtai has also experienced this IndexService wakelock. Thanks. |

UDATE:
So....it seems that the Note 4 is trying very hard to index the text INSIDE PDFs........WTF http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmo...attery-t2905687 I've got lots and lots of PDFs on my sdcard. The reason is to read them. Why in the blazes does Android want to index the text INSIDE the PDF ? For those with few PDFs, could you try deleting them from your SDCard and report back? |

QUOTE(arslow @ Oct 29 2014, 09:21 PM) the last time i saw indexservice was when i full wiped my note 3 last year to install a custom ROM. Battery was draining fast while the phone was running hot....waited for a while and it didnt get better, so i just rebooted the phone and it was fine after that. I have A LOT of PDFs on my extSDcard so maybe its something else Yup this is my spare card.....bought last month.have u tried ur spare SDcard? According to that thread, it's either due to it being a 64Gb card or too many PDFs. One guy solved it by deleting all PDFs. |

QUOTE(edtai @ Oct 29 2014, 09:52 PM) My phone is hot now... battery is also draining fast from 100% 30mins ago to now 88%......the IndexService is still rank #01 on the list. The simple solution is actually to REMOVE your sdcard. I may just spare a fire extingusher besides my bed. I will leave it like that for overnight. If you read news tomorrow that someone got burn by Note4..... That's me. IndexService actually disappeared one day when I was using the phone without the sdcard. |

So about this IndexService.....I believe that freezing it with TiBu will solve it, therefore it *should not* be a hardware problem.
edtai if you want to try 10 PDFs at a time, do report the outcome. I have a very large number of PDFs, about 1Gb+ on the phone. I saw that IndexService has 7Mb of data on the SDCard, which means that it is the index file, but if it's going to continue indexing, it will probably end up being a 1Gb or 2Gb file. I won't be surprised since several years ago when 80Gb HDDs were the norm, Google indexing on the HDD produced a 2Gb index file. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Oct 29 2014, 11:14 PM) If I not remember wrong. That index services is Google thing. Just let it finish indexing and it will be fine in future. It not index for pdfolder bit plenty of others thing include photos thumbnail. Lol yeah but I certainly DON'T WANT Google indexing *MY STUFF* on *MY* HANDHELD DEVICE.I had read it before long ago somewhere else. Don't disable or remove it. Just let it finish, it take longer time if you had plenty data, especially if you factory reset the phone. After complete indexing, they will be no longer any battery drain. They can index all the metadata but WTF is this about peeking INSIDE files...... And I'm quite sure the whole index file will end up being quite sizable. |

Ok thanks to all who suggested the .nomedia fix.
Did that for my largest personal junk folder (no pr0n ok), and, although IndexService still runs, phone no longer gets hot because of it, and the battery drop is bearable. Previously it would really heat up the phone. I'll let the damned thing run its course and see what happens in the next few days. |

QUOTE(khainiz94 @ Oct 31 2014, 10:08 PM) The phone is so hot like burning. This problem happens when I change to ART. The problem dissapears when changing back to Dalvik. The hotness I experience using Dalvik is when the weather is hot. The phone easily get hot even even it is idle. You are giving qualitative descriptions. Please provide quantitative measures. Install some temp monitoring software and report again. Humans feel anything above 37 degrees C to the touch as hot. We can definitely stand touching up to 50 degrees. Note however that this is some kind of new battery chemistry as I reported earlier. It is charging from nominal 3.85V to 4.4V. All others I've seen so far are 3.7V or 3.8V to 4.2V or 4.3V. |

Not usable for Note 4 Exynos, but this opens up a whole new set of possibilities for the SD version, if and when a custom kernel comes up. It may be possible for the Note 3.
