My understanding of game architecture is that you probably won't see one for mobile in at least another 2 years.

If you want to display a nice scene in 2k, you need the bitmaps to wrap the polygons. Larger bitmaps = more space. Look at Bard's Tale....3.5gb and it wasn't even fhd at the time.

Space is a constraint and so is the gpu framebuffer.

Yes....same for me too. F'ing IndexService. Had to keep checking to kill it. I'm not rooted either.

Uncle, could you try finding what is this IndexService with Titanium and freeze it? We'd like to know what impact it has when frozen.

It's waking and messing with the battery. I've also swapped my sdcard but it's still showing. edtai has also experienced this IndexService wakelock.

I've got lots and lots of PDFs on my sdcard. The reason is to read them. Why in the blazes does Android want to index the text INSIDE the PDF ?

For those with few PDFs, could you try deleting them from your SDCard and report back?

Yup this is my spare card.....bought last month.

According to that thread, it's either due to it being a 64Gb card or too many PDFs. One guy solved it by deleting all PDFs.

The simple solution is actually to REMOVE your sdcard.

IndexService actually disappeared one day when I was using the phone without the sdcard.

So about this IndexService.....I believe that freezing it with TiBu will solve it, therefore it *should not* be a hardware problem.

edtai if you want to try 10 PDFs at a time, do report the outcome.

I have a very large number of PDFs, about 1Gb+ on the phone.

I saw that IndexService has 7Mb of data on the SDCard, which means that it is the index file, but if it's going to continue indexing, it will probably end up being a 1Gb or 2Gb file. I won't be surprised since several years ago when 80Gb HDDs were the norm, Google indexing on the HDD produced a 2Gb index file.

I don't know but it is probably in /system/apps.

My phone is not yet rooted so I can't see further details.

It does not show up in Nova Launcher's Activity Shortcuts either. I went thru every one.

Lol yeah but I certainly DON'T WANT Google indexing *MY STUFF* on *MY* HANDHELD DEVICE.

They can index all the metadata but WTF is this about peeking INSIDE files......

And I'm quite sure the whole index file will end up being quite sizable.

Ok thanks to all who suggested the .nomedia fix.

Did that for my largest personal junk folder (no pr0n ok), and, although IndexService still runs, phone no longer gets hot because of it, and the battery drop is bearable.

Previously it would really heat up the phone.

I'll let the damned thing run its course and see what happens in the next few days.

FYI .nomedia does not work on the Huawei X1. Can't keep pr0n there.

Please provide quantitative measures. Install some temp monitoring software and report again.

Humans feel anything above 37 degrees C to the touch as hot. We can definitely stand touching up to 50 degrees.

Note however that this is some kind of new battery chemistry as I reported earlier.

It is charging from nominal 3.85V to 4.4V. All others I've seen so far are 3.7V or 3.8V to 4.2V or 4.3V.

Not usable for Note 4 Exynos, but this opens up a whole new set of possibilities for the SD version, if and when a custom kernel comes up. It may be possible for the Note 3.
