won't u guys agree phone cover destroy the beauty of note 4? especially its back. I don't use any cover and yet to get a screen protector either.

i prefer naked... nice solid metal feel... got tough armor mainly for work purpse anyway...
*
QUOTE(squall_kay @ Nov 5 2014, 11:47 PM)
I also preferred to use note 4 in its naked form with additional screen protector. I missed the feeling of swiping on actual glass.
Btw,  I felt that xperia Z1 and Z2 gave much better solid cold metal feeling. Note 4 even in air-conditioned room didn't felt the coldness.

Beauty has a price. High maintenance. One drop is all it takes.

Put on a nice CASE please. CASE = all sides fully covered.

Those "things" that leave the top and bottom exposed are COVERS and I personally would not recommend it.

Your phone, your choice.

Your statement like those sell insurance people. Haha everything expensive must comes with a care package.

Like phone must have a good case to protect.
Human must buy health insurance for medical emergency.
Car must buy insurance for tons of reason.

QUOTE(Nephrite @ Nov 6 2014, 12:40 AM)
Haha make sure you don't drop your phone la. Touch wood if accidentally drop and your phone metal dent then huh good luck.

Always get a good case to protect the phone. You might not know your future incoming.
*
Well, a device, like whatever precious thing you have, needs protection.

In an enterprise, you have the IT team backing important stuff up. Company pays for that "insurance" because the data is valuable.

We all know at least 90% of people never back up their stuff. So many stories of "help me recover my pics" or "I dropped my phone and it has dented/cracked screen"...

Even J. Lo insures her, ahem, ass-ets.

Battery power update: Usage is different now if compare with first week after i got the phone. I used to have about 4 ~ 4.5 hrs SOT but now I have average 7hrs with remaining battery level 15%. I have stopped doing "killing background application" and just let the phone behalf like that with brightness setting at -2 as it is too bright to for indoor use. Use it for surf web with reduction rate. More on reading comic, emailing, whatspps and reading pdf documents only.

If this wireless charger charge as fast as the wall charger with the fast charge function then it will be good to consider. thumbup.gif
*
I have been using Qi chargers for almost a year. They are a convenience but the charge rate maxes out somewhere around 500-700mA.

This means it is suitable for overnight charging. The state of current technology does not yet allow high speed wireless charging.

This Samsung's wireless charging pad claims to comes with a 2A adapter with it.
*
The 2A adapter is to power the charging pad. You still need a receiving coil on the back cover, or stuck onto the battery.

At best, if Samsung really managed to do it well, you'd get 1000mA incoming charge to your Note 4. I don't expect anything better.

For those who want use Wireless Charging, even with Turbo Charging adapter the plate still a bottleneck.

4 hours, this means it is putting out 700mA approx. Nice.

Still, that's about the best that current Qi tech can do.

nephrite khainiz94

Here are some responses from XDA

They ALL have GPS working WITHOUT the phone.....I think we need to pay a visit to the service center.

Any other Gear S owners please verify?

if you have a custom kernel... you may be able to adjust the charging rate the phone can receive.... I see the option in my S3 in the boefela settings app.
*
The limit is the receiver coil. Almost all of the coils are from Chinese brands, around RM20-60 each. There are very few non-Chinese brands, and those are around 1.5x to 2x the price.

I tested one of those universal coils (where you connect it to the usb port) OMG the performance was horrible.
3-5% per HOUR !!!

For wired charging, I'm sure adjustment works since there's always more juice you can pull.

Galaxy Gear S Screen Protector

Anyone here using screen protector for your Gear S Smart Watch?

Do you know where we can buy it in Malaysia or overseas online shops?

Thank you for your info.
*
Hi tomboyed, could you test if your GPS works WITHOUT being paired to the phone, ie bluetooth off, or switch the phone off completely.

Run the Here app or the S-Health Walking, Jogging or whatever feature.

Some have reported it works fine and they can get a lock, some (me and Nephrite) cannot get a lock on.

I would suggest the Jabra Tag or Jabra Play. Can pair 2 devices at once. Cheaper than the Gear Circle. tongue.gif

You mean mono or stereo. They are stereo.

I'm trying to reflash the ROM, almost done downloading. Will retry after the flash.

My Full Complete Family. smile.gif

My short review.

Note 4 - the best mobile phablet ever build from Samsung internally and externally.

Gear S - Solid design, I love the curve screen, it is nice touch, not over big actually, fashionable and smoothly. The thing I dislike is the charger, difficult to touch up, why use such design, first generation Gear charger is much better.

Another is the build in GPS is half dead, it is A-GPS which need data connection, it won't work without insert SIM card that have data connection or WiFi to any data connection. I already confirm with Samsung where it is behave like that, the Data connection is required. joytest

*
Hi Andrew, so your GPS is also NOT working if not tethered to the phone?

My problem is that I have a data connection, and it can connect remotely to the Note 4.

Other users in XDA have reported that GPS works properly without a phone at all......so WTF.

I've downloaded BNJC Malaysia from Sammobile and will flash shortly.

Not working. Those mention working at XDA are there got insert sim card or already WiFi over as the Gear S seems auto on WiFi connection (I think) over it if remote connection is on. I am disable it.

Let us know how the output. smile.gif hope it work. Hope the shop answer is wrong. Else the build in GPS is kind of useless.

Just try it again. Mine stop working. Yesterday working perfectly without any hiccups. Will try again soon. Now busy. tongue.gif
*
Andrew, khainiz, I just got the damn GPS working for the first time without bluetooth, on the S-Health app.

This could be due to having the phone tethered via bluetooth the whole day at 1 location.

Just for kicks I restarted the Gear S to see what would happen, and wasted 3 minutes of my life waiting for the GPS.

QUOTE(herojack41 @ Nov 9 2014, 11:07 PM)
yes....modular parts is next big thing in the phone as it could be one day like what we are doing with PC....sort of.

PC also moving to modular parts like what ARA is doing.
*
PCs have always been modular, except for some all-in-ones produced recently.

Even NUCs can be considered modular to some degree.

It says quick charging support for snapdragon 800. Anyone with both note 3 and note 4, mind to test it? =)

QUOTE(Noobi3 @ Nov 10 2014, 08:49 PM)

Already tested, although with 3rd party cable.

1% per minute approx, so no difference where Note 3 is concerned.

Have to try with the Note 4 cable and see if there's a difference, but I suspect not.
