All this crap on touchwiz leads me to suspect that the head of software is either clueless or powerless.

Clueless is due to perhaps some astute political skill instead of technical, like what they liken Steve Ballmer at Micro$oft.

Powerless is perhaps due to most Asian societies and organizations not going against consensus or senior decisions.

It is likely a combination of both.

My 2 sen.

Problem?

Many ppl buy fake LV, chanel..
Many ppl install warez windows 8.1, photoshop etc
Many ppl download movies, mp3 etc, your phone songs all ori ka?
Many ppl simply click save and download copyrighted images to use on their artwork for commercial purposes.
Even Xiaomi bundled their phones with non-original version of SwiftKey  = warez SwiftKey
Even custom rom can be considered warez too bcos it is not official Samsung rom.
Even cyber cafe install pasar malam version games.

Problem?
*
Many people doing the wrong thing does not make it right.

Point about custom ROMs....there is a distinct set of rights granted in Open Source licenses for which I can go into a very very long discussion, therefore please do not clump illegal activity with the legal technical activity of ROM customization.

Without playing any games, that means idle without doing anything. My battery temp and this is not while charging. My last charge at 8 am. And the stuttering is so much apparent during this hot temp. Just put in my pocket without doing anything.
*
Mine does that for about 30 mins or so, then it drops down to normal again.

I think it has something to do with what's on our sdcards, as it is the same with 2 sdcards I put in.

The .nomedia trick helps, because before I did the .nomedia file, the phone was on for about 2 hours or more while in my bag. I only noticed it when I took it out.

Take out your sdcard and run it for a day.

Or perhaps you can remove all PDFs, pptx, docx and xlsx from your card first.

My phone does not have any SD card. Did not plan to put it at all. My Note 3 also does not have also. And no PDFs or whatsoever because I reset it again yesterday 3 times already. Is it because of incompatible apps?
*
If you have no card and it is doing this, please see if the IndexService is running.

If no IndexService is running, you could have some fault in the unit.

Mine is caused by IndexService, and I'm fine with it killing some battery since I still get 1 workday's use out of it.

Hi khainiz94 and Nephrite, and any other Gear S owner.

Can you test this on your Gear S.

DISABLE bluetooth on your PHONE. Use the Here app and see if it can lock on a GPS signal quickly. Try the same with bluetooth pairing.

You can also use the S-Health Walking monitor on the Gear S, and Enable GPS Logging. See how long it takes with and without bluetooth pairing to the phone.

Appreciate if you can report the results.

I find that mine cannot have a GPS lock without the phone. This is not acceptable behaviour.

Without being paired to a phone at all? Try switching off your phone and see if it still locks quickly?

If so, perhaps my GPS is faulty.

Since I bought the phone this is the first time I turn it off.

I am still able to get lock on my position in less than a minute. I will move to another location and try again. Possible Gear S able to lock fast because still have data from last pairing with phone.
*
Thank you very much.
I begin to suspect my GPS may be faulty.

Looks like you and I have the same problem.

We need a few more confirmations.

nephrite can you confirm?

Test if your GPS can lock when not connected to the phone. Switch off your phone for best effect because the Gear S can sometimes trigger the phone's bluetooth even when bluetooth is off.

The problem is... I have a SIM inside, with 3G on....

So...WTF Samsung ?????????

You advertise that you put GPS inside the Gear S but it can't work without a paired phone????????????

Just received this update for my Gear S. Not sure what 'new' features had been added.
*
It updates to BJNC version software which is the latest.

No idea about changelog.

Can both of you please test the GPS without connecting it to the phone?

I and 2 others have found that the GPS cannot work when it is not connected to the phone. Best to switch off the phone as it can force the bluetooth to turn on.

Keep on showing 'Finding Me'.

I even tried connect to home wifi without connect to Note 4 still doesn't work. Maybe need download the 120MB offline map first?

Everything works once I pair with Note 4. Anyway, is it necessary to have Here in Note 4 in order for the watch to work? Don't really feel like having another GPS on my phone lol
*
I downloaded the map and it is still showing Finding Me. It links to the GPS on the phone to get the position.

It also works with a Note 3, and any other phones on the compatibility list.

This is a serious WTF from Samsung.

Did you know that even weather also FK up.

I on GPS and Wi-Fi on my watch then it keep searching where am i and no info for weather. I need to Bluetooth with my phone on location on phone then off the watch Wi-Fi then on my phone Data to Sync only get my Location.

I don`t know why like that. Just want to update my weather info also stuck up.

Luckily i don`t rely on the watch too much just only play play and use like normal watch.

I 100% rely on my Note 4 duh. wub.gif

If you're on Maxis, take a multisim plan. I don't know if the other telcos have it.

Leave the phone at home for short outings. tongue.gif
