QUOTE(horns @ Dec 18 2014, 05:55 PM) lol! human mind sorry this i don't have an answer for you hehe after playing with laptops for some times, imo there is no such things as 'future proof' in laptops (or technologies in general). things that are relatively closer to that term will cost you extras. particularly for gaming, low and mid-tier gpu power is not strong enough to survive a year if you wanna play demanding game titles. if you intend to use it for gaming, high-end models with juicy gpu's are your options. the shelf life of the high-end gpu performance can last 2 to 3 years max. (using mid settings in the last year to make some new games still playable) by that time new and more powerful gpu's are out, and you repeat the cycle. with the same amount of money, it's much better to game with desktops. I already owned a desktop at my home. Since now Im currently staying outside (rent) and only back home on weekend ._. GTX860 (laptop) is low and mid-tier gpu? As I know GTX860 (laptop) equals to GTX750 (desktop), GTX870 (laptop) equals to GTX760 (desktop). haha

But now the 900 series mobile versus desktop is quite near compare to previous gen, the GTX980M can match 75% of the GTX980 while the 600 series time the GTX680M can only match 60% of the GTX680. The GTX860M is also Maxwell based so can say as in between high end and mid end range... And since the 900 series only have 970 and 980 model so this 860 still considered good after those top 2 models... http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForc...M.107794.0.html

The one on par to desktop graphic is 980M, not 970M. 970M still leaves a performance gap.
