Thanks.
So is there any Brand or Model I should grab fast or stay away from?
personally, i like columbia 300 coz i've been using alot of their balls. brunswick is also another good brand..i kinda like amf300 aswell.. for beginners, i dont really suggest using storm..bcoz eventhough storm balls are really2 good, their life span is quite short..so if u r into playing alot of big tournaments, u dont really need those high performance balls. bcoz u will find urself changing to a new ball quite often..$$
for beginners, u can buy polyester balls such as columbia300 white dot (WD)..they are in the region of rm150-199.. these balls would only go straight eventhough u play hook..but if u start off with a polyester ball, in the future, if u choose to play hook, u can use this ball as ur spare ball (ball to shoot spares). coz its easier to convert spares with a straight ball..so, if u put it this way, when u upgrade to a better ball, ur investment on the polyester ball wont b wasted la..
if u r starting to play hook, the most common hook ball for beginners is the columbia300 scout. i'm x so sure bout the current line-up of bowling balls coz i hv x bought any new balls for quite sometime.. the weight of the ball that u should purchase for a hook ball is 13lbs n higher..bcoz, hook balls that r light, u wouldnt get enuff pin action n the ball would just deflect when it hits the pins instead of going through the rack.. if u can larat, better go for 14lbs la..because, if u compare 2 of the same mid/high performance balls but of different weights, the inside core will be different..for balls that are 11-13lbs, the core would be plain..for balls that are 14-16lbs, the core would have its unique shape that would make the ball rotate better, have more hitting power,etc...
if u r wanting to play spinner, u can start off with the polyester ball to learn the proper technique n release. bt in the future, u would need to get a reactive spinner ball so u can get better spinner carry..(i dont really know the exact technical2 bits of playing spinner coz i'm x a spinner)
but i know that most spinners would use balls that r between 11lbs-12lbs..not many would use more than 12lbs..
i hope my short explanation here would help u in ur decision
