Hi guyz, I need some opinion with my purchase. Im currently in the process of upgrading my pc (next is my GPU and monitor) and im planning to buy a new 27 inch monitor with 2560x1440 resolution. But im currently in a dilemma choosing between dell u2713hm or asus rog swift pg278q. Both have different panel, specs and the price is almost RM1k apart. Actually dell u2713hm is my first choice but im starting to consider the asus rog swift pg278q because of the extra features. This is a long term investment for me and i would like it to be the best purchase possible. Please help, thanks.
well youre comparing two different monitors in terms of usage and specs
U2713HM
- if you do some work that requires critical colour accuracy, or just plain prefer better color reproduction, this is to go
- dont care abt slower response time compared to TN panel (>8ms)
- prefers Dell after sales service
- great stand features, durable monitor
- IPS suffers from the well known IPS glow, and Dell U series monitor sometimes suffer from backlight bleed issue
as for the ASUS PG278Q,
- 120Hz, GSync, 1ms response time, purely gaming oriented monitor
- lack of extra connectors (1 DP 1.2 only)
- slim bezel, sturdy stand
- TN panel have a mediocre colour accuracy if compared to IPS
personally, i wouldnt go for TN panel cause i prefer IPS nor go for gaming monitors for the gimmicky tag. but GSync is good, i can vouch for it. checked out APES's ASUS GSync monitor during their display couple of months back. the bulk of the premium is purely on GSync module too btw, otherwise the ASUS wont be as pricey
my take : go for ASUS GSync if youre looking to game mostly, and have a Nvidia GTX650 Ti Boost and above to use GSync. Otherwise, the all rounder one would be the U2713
