This is what I received after registering my interest with maxis. WTF, Maxis makes it sound like Im begging them to sell me an iphone. As a customer buying an iphone from maxis with hard earned cash + monthly commitment fees to pay to them, you actually have to 'qualify' or prove to them you are 'ready' to buy the phone. doh.gif

Maxis, I hope you guys are not dillusioned into thinking that you are the only company selling iphones in Malaysia. shakehead.gif
*
Imagine if the results from the checking turns out negative.

Maxis : "You're not worthy to purchase this phone! Begone and pay us firsssstttt"

I was Maxis users for around 10 years.
I had one nice/surprise experience when I went to Machines to buy 5s.
After purchasing, I was shocked that 5s sim card is smaller. Nevertheless, walked over to Maxis and queued.
Finally it was my turn, the lady proceeded to process my new sim card. Then I asked her how much, she said no charges for me, since I've been with Maxis for 10 years.

I was expecting RM25 or RM50 payment. There was once, I was charged when my sim card was broken.
So this time around when they waived it I took it as a good gesture from them, albeit the small amount.

As a conclusion, Maxis is not that bad, but perhaps they have plenty more rooms for improvement.

Good to know telcos do have some appreciation for long term customers. I did my checking on the sim card specs and swapped my micro simcard for the nano simcard like 2-3 weeks ago in advance. Don't forget to do this if you come from iphone 4! Iphone 4 runs on micro, not nano simcard biggrin.gif

All it took was my time coming to celcom's big bluecube branch and RM 0. They also said no cost because I was a customer for over a year (actually I am for 5).

The new simcard got activated before my ass left the chair at their counter. Not bad at all. They did say the activation period was fast because not a lot of new activation request at the moment though.

Thanks for the heads up on the ROI. I needed to register two family members for this. biggrin.gif They decided to get one after seeing mine tongue.gif

both also going for 64GB grey

I took the opportunity to push the phone's night shot capabilities last night.

I'm rather pleased with the overall result, but just a bit put off by the slow shutter speed. You can't catch fast moving objects in low light. I'm not sure if this applies to low light situations only.

Here are the results :

nice shot, is HDR enabled?

HDR only for fourth and fifth photo. Glare on the headlight is reduced compared to non HDR, and I resized the image to fit the forum.

Btw bring down your expectation for the slow mo camera a bit. Video image quality is a bit low, but the slow mo action is worth it!

I believe the quality goes up when you switch to normal video.

we don't know the price yet. Apple leather case IS sexy but doesn't protect from drops as well as I would like for me.

Expect to pay apple tax for the apple case!

I use etcware's tempered glass screen protector. It covers more of the screen than some others. Feeling is awesome, but I can see those Super Ultra particular about things will complain about the 0.01mm edges of the SP starting to peel off from the edge.

In b4 frustrated customers venting on this forum how they queued for so long but didn't get the phone, color they want or GB they want.

Good luck with the hunt! wave.gif

I took advantage of the rain for this slow motion shot of a car in the rain. Set the quality to 720P for full quality. It might just be good enough for most of us. nod.gif

2 questions before the arrival of ip6:

1. how to do u guys sync photos? normal itunes sync enough?

2. how do u guys transfer whatsapp/sms history from old iphone to new iphone?
*
QUOTE(Connect2USales @ Oct 22 2014, 10:12 PM)
1. itunes.. although i hardly sync..
2. for whatsapp, just go to your whatsapp>settings>chat settings>chat backup
choose back up now to backup your most recent chats before u transfer. Once u installed whatsapp in your new phone, just select restore chat
As for sms, backup in tunes and restore... kaotim
*
1. strictly speaking, based on what I understand on iPhone photo "syncing" is that sync only happens ONE way only, that is, from PC to phone only. (correct me if I'm wrong, I'll be very happy to be wrong in this one).

I usually plug it in and move my camera roll contents into my pc's picture folder for transfering photos into my pc.

2. I was unable to do icloud backup of my whatsapp history. Damn thing just froze at 0.0% with only 282kb uploaded. I ended up mailing conversation of my important groups with photo attachment in case I need to refer back, but that's only a workaround.

I need to find some thin connector for AV male to male wires. This is for my car fm transmitter.

Any ideas where I can find? Don't wanna go to jalan pasar. I'm currently at PD.

I read in the amazon reviews that the spigen neo hybrid metal reduces wireless reception. Can any users here prove that this is not true ?

I haven't used it before but based on the physics I am not surprised that it does reduce wireless reception. That is the same reason why iphone 6 back cannot be full aluminuim.
*
Indeed.

It's just a purely cold and calculated business decision to make the jump to 64 GB. I'm interested to see how much of a price difference between 16 and 64, and 64 and 128.

The opportunity presented itself to me for more slow motion action! laugh.gif It's seriously fun to play with!

The original quality video isn't much worse than this 720p video that I uploaded to youtube.

I also have an australian set. They never told me this requirement when I spoke to them. They just said yes, they do accept.

doh.gif

so just simply provide them any australian ID ? It doesn't have to be our name ? What a stupid requirement.

i'll try my luck today. I'll try to send to QCD without an ID and see how does it goes.

Best of luck! Share with us how it went ya wave.gif

I opened a simple support case chat with apple to check further and found out the following :

1. As far as aussie set goes , to the knowledge of the support person that I spoke with, you will need to send back to country of purchase for warranty claim. But she has heard of cases where people used authorised service providers to claim warranty.

user posted image

She's not in the know of the different support practices of other authorised service providers.

2. Verify your unit's exact warranty coverage period by entering serial number here : https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

3. Locate local malaysian authorised service provider here : https://locate.apple.com/my/en/

Went to QCD just now and the guy at the counter said its not launch yet in Malaysia and suggest me to try claim at Apple Singapore. Then I ask again can i claim this unit here once its officially launch here and he said yes but not in so positive tones unsure.gif i guess better wait and see when the time comes i'll try to ask again. scared if he changes from positive to negative later on. I've went to send my ipad2 over there once but they didnt accept because got small dent on my ipad n i tried to sent at Megan Avenue, they straight away sent my ipad to warranty. When it comes to things like this, its all depends on luck and their mood i guess  sweat.gif
*
Thanks for sharing nod.gif now that you mentioned about them saying it's not yet launched just triggered my memory sad.gif The guy on the phone also said about it being not yet launched so can't support the phone yet.

If I had remembered I would have mentioned it here and maybe saved you a trip. Sorry! sad.gif

which i think its ridiculous because i receive the same tone (impatient) when i called up apple authorized service provider to ask about my iphone 5s (it was an aus set).

then i went  vmad.gif  and chat with apple online. they said they (apple authorized service provider) are REQUIRED to service me. so there you go, i printscreen it, went there (AASP) and gave them a good lecture. I was one step from asking their manager out for a debate. Sometimes those ignorant staffs are just plain  doh.gif
*
Wow man, so did you manage to claim the warranty without giving such stuff like australian ID ?
