Bought myself PE60-2QE. I don't have much to say bc I still have not use it for quite a long time. But only complaint is the cheap feeling clickpad and the disappointing screen. The previous version comes with an IPS display but this Skylake version doesn't. It's a little worse bc the viewing angle are not so great.

The previous version yes, it does come with an IPS display but not on the Skylake version. It doesn't state anywhere that it comes with the same IPS display. You can read about the screen here:

I can't say bc I dont know how to check, but its definitely not IPS. If u want IPS, u should consider the 5th Gen version, the screen is super amazing. PS: Its still available in stores but with the same price tag as the Skylake version.

What do you mean? Well that's weird. Mine is PE60 Skylake but and it comes with a very poor screen.

Sorry for being a bit off topic here. (Since u guys are discussing about the latest skylake msi pe60 with cheap display panel). I heard that the broadwell msi pe60 has this bsod bug: BSOD MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error. One retailer I asked mentioned that broadwell msi pe60 is well known with this bsod bug. Is that true? Anybody here can confirm this?

Got a few questions here.

Does anyone knows how to upgrade the RAM and SSD without voiding the warranty ?
Sending it to the service center is out of the question as my location is in Sabah.

I'm planning to migrate my OS to a SSD so I'm wondering how would the activation process works as these new laptops don't have any windows key stickers on the bottom anymore. Did some research online and most of them said it was automatic.
I updated a mac before and it was automatic too until it failed to connect to the server. I was screwed over once and don't want to waste this legit windows 10 key.

Here's how I migrate from hdd to sdd.
1st create a recovery disk using the msi recovery disk application from your laptop. Im using 32g usb. After that, replace ur hdd with ssd. Then plug in ur usb recovery and start from usb. Then the recovery will start install ur window to ur ssd. No need key for it.

How much for standard m.2 SSD for MSI laptop? I was offered RM250 for 128GB is that considered reasonable price?

Guys if I want service my laptop under warranty should I go seller place or straight find msi service centre..because I bought my notebook from kl and I'm from kedah...

no I'm just curious because I bought it online from a store that is located at KL. And let's say IF my laptop really occur a problem then if I go MSI authorized seller(not the one I buy from) will they help me send back to the service centre?

I wanted to buy laptop and chose MSI PE70 6QE. Mostly for programming work, also for watching videos/movies and sometimes games. My goals for screen - good view angles, fast response and good black for video/games. But then I found out it has "bad" panel. Then I started to wonder whether I need this laptop. As I understand all the new Skylake PE70/PE60/GE72/GE62 6Q* have "bad" panel, while older 2Q* have "good" panel.

I wonder is panel of newer MSI notebooks is so bad I should avoid it? How bad it is? I'm not too picky about screen, but I'm gonna work at laptop a lot of time so I'd like to have screen that at least won't get in my way. Would gaming/movies on that panel be ok? Like no trails, good black? May be stick with older PE70 2QE (GE72 2QE has same panel?)? Or may be even other brand, seems e.g. ASUS ROG has both IPS and Skylake.

In other words people could say one panel is worse than other, but eventually I could see no difference looking at worse panel, right?

And I wonder are IPS panels ok for games? I wanted to chose TN when I found out IPS aren't good for gaming. But gaming notebooks have IPS, so they should be ok?

PS. Such a headache to make a choice of such expensive item for me. Also don't have that notebooks in local store to go and stare at them. So good I've found this discussion about panels of new MSI notebooks, so small info on them. Thanks.

Arghhhh shit storm today. Horsecrap MSI! I was expecting an IPS panel laptop, ended up getting a TN panel instead!

On top of that, this is my first MSI laptop. It's a PRESTIGE PE60. Even in the bloody quotation stated "IPS display".

The bummer is that every shop including online stores are advertising this laptop using IPS panel. Very effing misleading.
