Update 3 : 13/09

Very early today. 9pm oredi buka mata wanna cut something. First thing's first; respraying the frame cos some part are not completely covered after the first session. See my case relaxing n sunbathing with nice scenery behind kekeke.

user posted image

Test sprayed on a piece of unwanted acrylic a few nights ago, to see if the steel spray will lekat to plastic. It did, and it left a semi transparent cloudy look which I liked. Starting to think of doing that to the ROM/HDD holder's covers hehe tongue.gif

THE SIDE PANEL.

Then comes the kan cheung part: Cos I never work with steel + jigsaw before. Somemore afraid will screw it up, but since i got another 2 hours to go b4 work, might as well stop the waiting and itchy hands. Here's the draw out, sorry the line's not too clear, i used mechanical pencil.

user posted image

I accidentally cut thru some part of the workbench thou tongue.gif . Not really done yet, the curves at the front side is not very well done (told you its my first time), so I'll re-cut it tmr and make it straight 90 degrees corner for the front. The back, I accidentally forwarded the jigsaw a little, causing a small extended cut, really small, i swear, really small laugh.gif Btw, my IC doesnt have "Ian Ho xxx xxx" written on it hence the accidents lol. Here's the result after some filing. There's still quite a lot of work need to be done to get a decent looking edge around it, so that'll be on tomorrow's update.

Well, thats all for today. I'll bring in some strippers to this thread.. i mean paint stripper, tomorrow. The top panel's still virgin cos I wanna make sure the exhaust fan wont interfere with my devices. So that'll have to wait till almost every other thing is done.

p/s: Uncle, tolong delete the few "Reserved for xxxx" posts", post #3 to post #6. No usage. Sorry for trouble

Update 4

Night time, after work got nth to do so decide to work on part of the side panel first. This will be an "extension" of the acrylic on the panel with the band's logo on it.

Morning came so cut it after working on the side panel. Used a pipe saw instead of my jigsaw. Not everything can be properly cut with a jigsaw in my hands.

user posted image

Stripping the paint off the side panel. Got some paint stripper on my hand, it just gets underneath ur skin and it starts to burn. Bloody cleaning auntie must have thrown away my gloves. Dammit. The brackets on top are really giving me headaches. Tmr need to use toothbrush on it.

Didnt do much work, decided to leave the unbalanced cut on the round edge as I have another plan for my side panel. Not before its fully done.

Update 5 (night mod)

Goin to try out the epoxy to see how well it'll bond between metal and plastic. Again, another first time when it comes to epoxy (used chloroform and silicone sealant on the previous project). Took a cut out from the ROM holder, spray painted it black on one side, and leave the other side. Glued it and left it to dry.

Then I had work to do on the side panel. Applied thick layers of paint stripper to get the paint off the vents. It worked really well when I brushed it off with a hard tipped paintbrush (i dont really know what is generally called heh). Blasted it in the toilet to cleanly remove everything.

user posted image

Next, to cut the mounting acrylic for the side panel. I need some space at the back to accomodate the hinge (hate it). Since its past midnight, no jigsaw for me again, a metal saw should do.

That's the end of my night expedition. Come morning in update 6, i have the side panel to work on.

Update 6(morning mod)

Opened my eyes and saw the beautiful ultra bright sun so decided its time for some work. The side panel. Some spray painting need to be done after the paint stripping. And after that I took some shots at my fully dried chasis frame.

And time to test the epoxy thingy i did last night. It bonds both surfaces really strong. Well, I guess the "2 Tonne" written on the packing is true after all heh. Then I decided to work on the cross. Cut out the vinyls cos I'm kinda lazy to spray it red. But the colour turns out shitty n not what I wanted, so I ripped out the vinyl, leaving it as the last pic shows. I need to redo the whole thing, the cutout on the vinyl is absolutely horrible, round edges turning edgy, straight lines turning curvy. Crap.

Now, looking at the side panel from far might looks nice. Until I decided to take a closer look at my first layer paint job. THERE'S A FREAKIN MOSQUITO ON MY SIDE PANEL! And it wasn't there before i sprayed, so i must be one lucky mofo to spray on a mozzie while its flying, pinned it, and drowned it onto my side panel. So sanded it with 400 grid dry and re-spray the whole panel.

There's more work to do on the side panel. I might have an additional 1 hour tonight and 2 hour tomorrow morning to work on it. Around 3-4 more layers of wet sanding and re-spraying.

I dont intend to cut out the front fan grill... The back one, i just snip the grill off wtih a wire cutter and then file it round (not really very round).

Basically, if there's anyone here who is more impatient or more bad tempered than me, I'd think he/she should go into any world record, cos obviously, nobody can beat my hair-trigger temper.

But I just like the art, creating something diff out of something ordinary, thats why i get back on modding. After one project fail, I'll try the next and so it goes. UV-CMA is just like a test bed to me, unfortunately i picked the wrong level of difficulty to play with acrylic lol.

So to soon-to-be modders, every problem has a solution (even 911 so teruk d also got cure! laugh.gif )

Bad news:
- Running out of spray paint and acrylic (last can, only less than 1ft sq left).
- So far its gonna be delayed until all the pending tasks are done. Woke up like 10 mins b4 work time today, freakin tired every weekend have to work 12 hours per day dammit.
- Running out of cash as wel
- Donno how much Bondo (body filler) will cost

Good news:
- Lucky tmr offday can rush n buy from subang.
- Start bulking jersey to get some extra $$$ to feed my case

Besterestest news:
- Asking my friend to ship in a couple of stuffs from U.S., some including fighter pilot toggle switch and the original modder's mesh. thumbup.gif

Cant wait to get my hands on them. Oh ya, I have my worklog on TBCS and those mat salleh there are quite helpful there when you ask something. They say our grass is weird laugh.gif
