hello, got some questions regarding the new cx-5 2.0 GLS. hope current owners here can help to clarify.

1. does the 2.0 GLS variant come with GPS map navigation? saw on youtube review that it comes with a compass only but on some brochure it states that GLS comes with GPS navigation included.

2. is it correct that the cx5 does not have a central door lock/unlock button/toggle in the car for driver to press to lock or unlock the doors. if that is the case, if i want to central lock all the doors after someone has exited the back door, can be done if i drive off (auto lock) or unlock driver door and re-lock it?

3. regarding the blind spot alert system. does it work only when turn indicator is activated or when car detect steering is turning or every time bike or car pass by will have alert?

4. does the car have auto side mirror folding/unfolding when locking/unlocking the car?

5. does the car have follow me home lights after turning off the engine or after unlocking the car?

6. is there a boot release/unlock button on the car key remote?

7. for the current 3 years free service, it includes all parts, lub and labor?

8. service interval is every 10k/6 months?

thank you!

Mine is 2.2D, but some functions are available on 2.0GLS too, so here's my answer.
hello, got some questions regarding the new cx-5 2.0 GLS. hope current owners here can help to clarify.

1. does the 2.0 GLS variant come with GPS map navigation? saw on youtube review that it comes with a compass only but on some brochure it states that GLS comes with GPS navigation included.
- I believed only the GL is without GPS map navigation. For the navigation, you can enable your handphone hot spot and let the MZD connect to your handphone wifi for it to receive real time traffic update. But the real time traffic still can't beat Waze.

2. is it correct that the cx5 does not have a central door lock/unlock button/toggle in the car for driver to press to lock or unlock the doors. if that is the case, if i want to central lock all the doors after someone has exited the back door, can be done if i drive off (auto lock) or unlock driver door and re-lock it?
- Not true. The driver central lock button will lock/unlock all the doors but it is manually operated, i.e. it wont autolock if you drive off above certain km/h like some cars that I know

3. regarding the blind spot alert system. does it work only when turn indicator is activated or when car detect steering is turning or every time bike or car pass by will have alert?
- When turn indicator is activated, it will also give warning signal if there is vehicle in your blind spot. If turn signal is not activated, the BSM signal on your side mirrors will light up but without any warning signal if there is vehicle overtake your car from the blinsdpot

4. does the car have auto side mirror folding/unfolding when locking/unlocking the car?
- No. It has a manual fold/unfold button on the driver's side. I had mine retrofitted with after-market module at Jack Lieus' place in Taman Equinne for RM145

5. does the car have follow me home lights after turning off the engine or after unlocking the car?
- Yes. Can be enabled on 2.2D, so I presumed the same for 2.0 GLS

6. is there a boot release/unlock button on the car key remote?
- No. But there is a manual button to unlock the boot near the rear plate. It will unlock the boot but all the door will remain locked. There is also another button near the rear plate that will lock all the doors and boot

7. for the current 3 years free service, it includes all parts, lub and labor?
-Yes

8. service interval is every 10k/6 months?
Yes. Which ever comes first

thank you!
-Welcome

If it's the same as 2018 then no, when you rotate your steering wheel, the line remains straight. Sigh...not a big deal but given the price point I think it should be included.
*
yup, referring to 2017-2018 G2 models.

oh bummer. yeah, i though got include this function also. sweat.gif
the camera got like honda multi view function? eg. wide mode, normal mode, top down mode?

I remove the Skytint after had the car for about a week or so.
The front windscreen tint really cannot make it.
At first want to keep the side and tint and use magnetic shade, but the missus said better change for the whole car.
*
how much did shop charge for skytint removal? currently dealer SA offer me free 3M Ebony tint on-top of skytint. I asked whether can dont want tint and get rebate - cannot. If I top up to upgrade better 3M tint - cannot shakehead.gif

I guess no car is perfect. Each car has it own pros and cons. There are room for improvement for CX-5 and one of it is the reverse camera. Also the arm rest is a bit short. I wish it can be further stretch.
*
true.
ya i found the armrest abit too far behind. luckily my height still average, can push the seat back abit to reach armrest properly. maybe for average ladies height, need to adjust the driver seat to the front, arm might not reach armrest properly.

kena conned by the SA. loan approved 22/5 and i already signed the HP. Opted for DC Blue since he said got stock. now he say don't know when can get the car. can't even promise to get before raya. i'm so pissed off now. can i cancel the car now? or can i change to other branch?
*
QUOTE(Duckies @ Jun 5 2018, 07:51 PM)
But then even they show you the car, you can't be sure if that's your car since there's no car registration number in the HP or any document til the day you gets the car key unless I am mistaken hmm.gif

I sign my HP already and my SA says it's gonna be this weekend...hopefully nothing goes wrong sad.gif
*
Is it a must to sign HP agreement before dealer put you in queue for a car? Or would a booking deposit suffice?
There was one SA who told me that the dealer can only put in a car request from HQ when the loan is approved. This is to avoid dealers hogging up stocks and not selling them until after SST is back. (Dont know what logic is that because SST is paid to govt and not the dealer/HQ that profits from it) confused.gif

I guess that loan offer = loan approval but signing HP agreement is another thing all together?

just placed booking for 2.0GLS snowflake white. dunno can get car in time before SST implementation or not.

was deciding on 2.0 or 2.5/2.2D. purely just for the rims. dont really like the rims on 2.0, seem abit too small with a thick tyre. but end up telling myself dont spend extra RM11.5k just for the rims. 2.5 engine irrelevant to me as im a slow driver.

Yes, she did said that. Higher chance colors are Meteor Grey and DC Blue.

But how high the chance didnt say in details...but she got told me its July batch and that is very brief only.
*
oh i see...DC blue quite unique. Sometimes can be black car, sometimes can be blue. Haha. Meteor grey is more generic.
which colour was your first choice?

QUOTE(ketupatlazat @ Jun 8 2018, 09:39 AM)
Congrats to those who have gotten their cars. Still waiting for my SA to reply on the status of my car

19 May - Went to showroom on the afternoon of Saturday (3 days after the announcement of GST 0%-ed). Was told I was the 4th person to drop the booking on CX-5 in that showroom that day, but unsure whether it was on a totality basis or just my variant (GLS 2.0L). DCB is my first choice. SA told he had put my booking in the system the same day

21 May - Submitted loan docs

23/24 May - Bank called to verify/approved

25 May - Date on the LOU from the bank. Now I'm not too sure whether the actual booking was done this day instead or on the 19th

2 June - Test drove a unit. SA told that he still could not comfirm on the availability before raya. Told that Mazda HQ system crashed since the day before as apparently too many bookings were keyed in. At Mazda PJ branch alone he told 43 bookings were done from that branch alone in a single day. Told me that by Monday the system will recover back.

7 June - Texted SA. He told the branch 'manager' went to Mazda HQ to discuss on the stocks before raya and will revert back, which he has yet to do so until now...
*
still unsure whether LOU is needed for official booking/queing. anyway, any penalty charges to cancel loan request after we get LOU?

Notmally tint installers will not recommend you to install security film for your front windscreen at it is already anti-scattered glass.
Removing the stock front Skytint with high quality front windscreen tint from the like of VKool, 3M, etc should cost you ard Rm1k.
The side security tint are still decent
*
just wondering if stick two layer tint on front windscreen, will it cause any distracting reflection on the inside? hmm.gif

Around end of May, I think it's 24-25 May? I did my booking at Kepong Mazda and immediately did the loan the next week. Once loan offer is there, I bought my car plate.

Thanks.. May ending too.. Luckily color of choice was available.. So less waiting time.
*
sweet. i think that period was the last few that could get ready stock. those booked after that have to wait already.

I just noticed the infamous klock klock sound from the lower behind when I go over bonggol  sweat.gif Gonna go ask them to change during 1k service.
*
so what's the problem? all units will have this problem?
usually SC willing to change the part or will argue that they can't hear anything/normal? sweat.gif

Some installers might not give warranty for 2 layers. Can check the replies above as I had asked before haha

Not all units will have this problem but it has been appearing since older generation. Even Mazda 3 and 6 also has this issue. Normally SC will replace something like bearing or front strut.

You can see some of the complains from the Mazda FB group.
*
yeah seem logical that tint shops might not want to give warranty for 2 layers. i asked because my dealer giving free tint and they having some deal with one 3M tint shop to tint all their cars. i called up the tint shop and they say they will honor the warranty because it's special deal with mazda dealer. but still i might remove front windscreen tint and get crystalline 70 or the 3M ceramic series. more worried about internal reflection for windscreen if have two layers and since the glass is at an angle. side windows double layer i think wont have reflection issue hmm.gif

QUOTE(voncrane @ Jun 10 2018, 11:11 PM)
Legendary sound... Mine's still silent *Knocks on wood..  sweat.gif
i believe it's either or as service reminder is counting down 30 days or 1K km, whichever comes first. SA also mentioned to bring it in then for first servicing..
A pal who used to work in the used car biz advised that I shouldn't use 2 as sooner or later, there might be a problem with lighting.. Can't remember if reflection or refraction.. But yeah.. Says to replace completely with one tint instead.

That Kruk Kruk sound is a known G1 issue and was supposed to have been rectified in the G2.. Dunno, perhaps it's a CKD thing now..  :confused  But no worries, SCs are aware and will change it.. It's the lower arm bush.
Good to know.. I think I got voucher for such.. See how.
*
wondering what's the problem causing the kruk sound especially if after change then no sound. if this is the case then not so much a design issue and maybe more of an assembly issue? but if so infamous, wouldn't have mazda rectify the issue at the assembly line unsure.gif

The tint seems okay on morning...gonna try on weekend see how hot it can gets. If cannot tahan then really gotta change.

I got the voucher for 3M tint but only for selected shops. Gonna check how much it'll cost for front windscreen first.
*
voucher is better, can choose whatever tint you want from 3M. my offer was just 3M Ebony for whole car, take it or leave it. cannot top up for better tint also. ohmy.gif

those that got your car recently, what was the reading on the odometer?

i rmb years back when i got my honda, the reading was just 6km. SA said honda transport their cars on trailers only. not sure whether mazda does the same or not.

last few weeks when to test drive, saw SA used a newly unregistered 2.2D for test drive hmm.gif probably because dont have 2.2D demo car

Ya I guess so. Ok la 60km still acceptable to me if no scratch, dent or other defects. Can't do much..argue also waste time.  Also can't prove SA drove it around or the car is being used for test drive. They will somehow say during delivery drive a bit, test car to see any defect and etc.

If no defect then I am just gonna enjoy the new ride laugh.gif

i agree. most importantly is can get car during gst free period drool.gif
if can get car after september but 10km on odo also no meaning already...

Bermaz Auto Bhd ED Datuk Francis Lee told TMR that the bookings for Mazda have been increasing on a daily basis."We will collect as many bookings as we can and will see how we will deal with it when the Sales and Services Tax comes in," Lee said.
Lee said the CX-5 is the best-selling model so far.

SOS

maybe when SST returns, Bermaz will give special rebate for customers who booked during tax holiday period but didn't manage to get car laugh.gif
