Hi everyone...

i'm planning on buying xbox360 in the coming month. but before that, i want to ask 1 or 2 question about xbox360.

1) can a modified xbox360 console with an original game be played on the Live Network? it just seem i can't find unmodified one in town (Kota Kinabalu to be exact).

2) the store sell the console for 1888... is the price acceptable?

hope someone can help me here especially those who are living in Kota Kinabalu.

1)well you can try. be if you got banned from xbox live. you still can play offline.

2)what item they included for you ?

RM1888 nice number..hope it will included some games and maybe live starter kits?

don't think they include the live starter kit.

from my own opinion RM 1888 is just premium pack with "flashed firmware"

yup i think rm1888 is the machine + that socalled "mod" job. remember another forumer told us sg wang shop charge rm400 for that "mod" job.

guess all shops are full force into that extra rm400 cost thing... so consider their year end bonus.

* threadstarter, my advice to fall for that socalled "mod" thing. you are wasting your money because microsoft didnt do anything yet so once they fix it then your machine will forever bye2 to xbox live.

Better yet...hear my story.....i went to one shop i asked him how much is the ori..he said RM1300...then i asked how much if buy modded...he said....RM1700.....Then i asked him what mod chip they were using... ...he said dunnolah..have to open and check....

Then i said:if i bring my 360(which i dont have) can you install the mod chip for me....he said sure can one...but have to charge RM400 for the modchip......

Then i paused for a while...and imagined myself taking a parang and chopping his head off....then i also imagined a Donkeys head on his body..... ...what do they think lah...they thin they can con people so easily....

I don't really understand why people would prefer a modded Xbox360. Now we are in the next generation world of gaming consoles, hence it is not like the old times where we played alone and then we talk bout the games that we played "ALONE".

Now, its the new generation and its all about "LIVE". I notice that most of the people who own a 360 enjoy playing together with other people the most rather than games that doesn't provide LIVE multiplayer.

Just imagine playin Saints Row without a chance to get to play it on LIVE.. How much would u have missout (Form a gang, showcase your latest pimpsuit, fightoff against other gangs from all around the globe).

The answer is straight.. Get an original 360

Pal games are hard to find here, thus it's more expensive. Better to get an NTSC machine here.

Live is connected via ur normal internet connection, just get a router if u don't have one.

Another underaged kid who can afford a 360.. aii... anyway.. either get the prepaid credit card mentioned above, or you'll have to scavenge around for the prepaid points or live subscription cards.

I think most of us using Streamyx here.

i flash xbox360 myself. if u want to mod ur xbox better do urself. why? because i dont think the shop let u keep backup of your original firmware. one day u need it where to get? flashing should cost u nothing.

Could modified Xbox360 console go on Xbox Live by using 'Original' game?

Even if you can, there is no guarantee that Microsoft does a sweeping check on the authenticity of your hardware component and lock you out later once they found out that you have messed with the firmware of your DVDROM drive, as what many pirates are doing right now. There is no motivation to flash the firmware other than to play these pirated copies, so dont give me bullshit about homebrew apps or excuses like that.

Even so, those who are playing pirated copies on their 360 are out of the loop when it comes to software patches and updates, especially those that makes the games and the machine run smoother. Certain games like DOA4 and COD2 have downloadable software patches that resolves critical issues in their respective games, so you cheapskates are stuck with buggy versions of the games, since you are locked out from downloading these patches from Live. Most importantly, Microsoft is also prepping a new major Dashboard/System update that allows that infamous 1080p resolution with a few other enhancements/streamlining for the 360 and obviously the cheapskates are left with their tongue lolling for this. Dont come back here whining about how buggy your machine is since Microsoft are shipping out updates but you are too cheapo to get your machine legitimately running.

Not true. An xbox360 with a modded firmware dvdrom can still go online and download all the patch updates and downloadable contents for all the games. What's even more surprising is that u can also play multiplayer on LIVE. So currently u can play any pirated copies exactly like the original would. But obviously that won't last long, the next dashboard update would definitely resolve all this.

Haha ... i still remember Huss Wuss, Arj and myself when to a shop in SGW and the sales person say the exact same thing u posted. Perhaps, might be the same shop.

I guess modded x360 console cant sell that why they r pushing the sales for it. Most ppl going for ORIGINAL !!!

And if you are referring to the initial patch update that comes with some or all these pirated games when you put in on a modded 360 (yes, i have tried those at TNL), these are patches that comes with the game disc, . I sure hope for these cheapskates' sake that they can actually download a patch off Live and apply them via online if future enhancements/upgrades are available. Playing alone is sad and pathetic, but hey, who am i to say anything if people want cheap thrills like these cheapskates?

Yes, yes, what i meant was u can actually download such patch updates or any downloadable contents from online via LIVE, not from the disc.

^haha, i guess those in charge of xboxlive are merely doing a survey. gathering info on the numbers of xboxlive players playing backups (of games they own!?) can be useful to formulate effective countermeasures. maybe they'll just charge their c.cards with another yr of live subscription and immediately ban them until they reflashed their dvdroms

Anyone know if playing pirated DVDs (movies) will damage the lense? I asked the person I bought my Xbox from and he tells me it might damage or scratch the lense etc.

for now. next time when new game release they can put the update in the game, which will auto update your system. they have done this on xbox1 for the MS dashboard update. but this time with only dvd drive firmware hack the update can't be stopped, hacker can't remove the update from the disc coz all files is signed. now is only on when MS want to make the move.

That is interesting because in Miri here they sold it at that exact price. Pretty obvious it was modded since I saw them selling the pirated X360 games right next to it.

Low grade quality pirated CDs/DVDs had been known to break into million pieces as it spins at high velocity.

Press the Xbox Guide button, select your gamer profile, then select Edit Gamer Profile, Gamer Picture, Change Gamer Picture. You can't create custom picture unless you have Xbox Live vision camera.

so that mean i cant.. use pic from PC or other source (cth: thumbdrive/HD)...coz i like to use pic from my HD... so how to transfer that pic...

You can't use picture from thumbdrive / USB HDD as Gamerpicture. You can however use picture from those sources as your dashboard's wallpaper.

The only way to get more GamerPictures are:

1) Download them from Xbox Live Marketplace
2) Some Xbox 360 Retail / Live Arcade game will give you GamerPictures after you played them
3) Create custome GamerPicture with Xbox Live Vision Camera.
