Grey Import don't count by rm243k, it's only rm100k from Japan, add all the tax & depreciation, still untung, local car if want sell also have to match grey import price lo.

Not as bad as Pugs or some hybrids. If it comes with the standard warranty, it's 3 years parts & service, even if your major service falls within the time thumbup.gif Just don't skimp & go bawah pokok - that'll be the death of you (and your ride)

for this instance (refer to that link) RM168k already include every thing except insc la.

unreg in this case means it's a recon unregistered car, not a 2nd hand car registered already in malaysia.

Where got? Overseas depreciation is high too... especially in the first year or two. I'd never buy a brand new car... even if it is 2 weeks old and was moved 5 km the price already dropped like crazy...

My Renault Nissan SC is good, don't know about others, but I've heard good things.

Those cars tend to have high mileage, IIRC. i.e. company cars that get used so much that after 1-2 years they want to dispose of them cause they are going to give problems. And mileage counts a lot in Europe... not age. A 5 year old low mileage car of the same model and original price tag may be worth as much as one that is 1 year old, but with high mileage. Another reason why there are so many 1-3 year old cars is that Leasing is quite popular in Europe. You pay a certain amount, maybe 5000 Euro on a car that's worth 20000 Euro, and then pay monthly rates, which amount to another 5000. After, say, 3 years, you either pay the final rate of over 10000 (which is what is expected the car is still worth by then. The mileage you are allowed to do is limited and agreed upon in the contract), or you return the car to the dealer/manufacturer, who will sell it. Ownership of the car only transfers to the person once he has paid the final rate, until then it's not his.

My family bought a one year old car for around 8000 Euro that was around 14000 when new... admittedly a (repaired) parking accident has also lowered the value, but there you go. If that's not a price drop I don't know what is.

Once the car has changed to second hand status (even if it was registered by the dealership only, and was never moved a km) the price drops significantly.

For luxury cars in Germany after 3 years you can expect the value to be 45% of what it used to cost.

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Sep 25 2014, 08:13 PM)

For luxury cars in Germany after 3 years you can expect the value to be 45% of what it used to cost.

pls la.. u are not the only one who was in uk/europe.. there are many 1year old cars with full service history ready for export..
yes it doesnt mean owner doesnt lose its value after 1year compared to original price.. but there is plenty good condition ones for sale even those approved premium used car by branded companies.
as for japan, there is certification or grading for used car export, to confirm to condition is up to spec.. 1-2years old cars are plenty in very good condition too.. again doesnt mean there is no sells 1-2year old cars unless they are high milage items

added some pix examples of japan exporting grade 1 used vehicles nearly brand new 2014 model or low 20k milage ones..

You haven't read the rest of my posting, have you? It can also be cars from leasing contracts, though they tend to run longer than 1 year... then mileage won't be so high.

All I wanted to say was that in the first year there is the biggest depreciation. After that it slows down. First year you may lose 40% of the value, second year 20%, and from then on 5% per year. That sort of thing, though the numbers are nowhere near the real ones probably.

Btw., who says no one dialed back the mileage on those cars? That's trivial to do, with the right equipment.

Not every one, but more than enough people I guess. In any case, maybe those cars are really having such a low mileage, but since mileage is important when selling a car, any car that does have a high mileage should be dialed back, because it makes a big enough difference. I'd be especially careful with cars meant for export, as export makes it harder to check the background of the car.

Average second hand price around RM155K. But all auto box. Manual should the one to go for if you want high resale value.

True. Its also faster. But at the moment GT86/ BRZis the most modifiable car available. Aftermarkets parts for everything GT86/ BRZ is also plenty. Like every company has something for it. You will never be out of mod options. At least for another 3 years until something comes along. That Supra replacement will probably take its place. If you buy now, get the cheapest one available and you can mod to your hearts content. I'm seeing quite a few GT86 on the road also. The lower secondary price probably makes it a good choice. Not UMW RM245K for it!!!

they are what i would term "club cars".
cars which you buy to enjoy the endless cycles of modifying to be the coolest in the club.
overseas (with cheaper cars and track use) club cars are mostly street legal track cars which you can drive on the street yet have decent performance on the track.

i know someone was comparing it with impreza sti earlier but for me it should be compared against other club cars like honda s2000, mazda mx5, daihatsu copen, etc. because for such cars all out power, spec, fact sheets don't matter.......what matters is RWD, fun with club buddies, blowing water with mechanics at their workshop while they work on your car.

for a family man that wants a car that can do it all then 4 door cars with dual personalities such as subaru impreza sti, mit evo x, bmw m3 would fit the bill.

That engine is high compression NA. That is why it can produce 200hp from a 2L. I guess u can't turbo this thing.

Normal steps. Lower compression by adding thicker metal gaskets. This one true for normal 4 banger. But flat 4 i dunno. Probably can also because MCM did a 2.5Na transplant and turbo at the same time. hmm.gif

In the end, the engine should be able to withstand the dynamic compression ratio without any problem inherent to forced induction. Then again perhaps only low level of boosting (<0.5 bar) is possible.
