I think Balo got the right stuff. He's not a Sturridge/Suarez type player and won't be I fear. But what he has is a presence in the air and physicality. So often we've seen Suarez bullied and hard tackled to get him off the ball. Balo not doing what he does best as often as he should, but if you look at the goal vs Ludo and against West Ham, his control and touch can be quite good if he wants to (and no surprise that both crosses came in from Moreno).

As I mentioned before, Balo is a genuine plan B, the type Dalglish had in mind when he hired Carroll. But the problem is now, without Sturridge, we got 2 plan Bs on the field (Lambert and Balo). So the only choice is to put in Borini, who if you ask me should be plan Y.

U win some u lose some, I know already some loses but it is not the end of the world. Again pointed out I never once see Liv buy super star even if they have target, they won't come. Proven player come with a cost, don't think Liv is ready to pay that kind of money transfer fee + wages. If he flops u just don't know how to get rid of him.. balo we got him cheap, don't think it was the best choice but some reinforcement.

World class striker I can't think of one player that is reasonable price + young + proven + willing to come to Liv.. if you have one name it coz I just can't think of someone

The main problem I noticed last night was once again our non-existent midfield. By midfield I meant the midfield trio in the middle. The way they were positioned was almost as if we were only playing with defenders and forwards. Looking at how we build up play, it's always a ball cycle between our DM - FB - CB ending with a hoof up front. For those blaming BR for his obsession with tiki taka, does that look like tiki taka to you? It might be BR's fault but you can't blame him for sticking to his obsession of tiki taka because it isn't. Problem there was the midfield triangle and the full backs were spread so far apart they can't ping passes to each other resorting to always cycling the ball to a full back only to hoof it up or pass it back to the centre backs. I believe it was Pep Guardiola who once said never buildup play with your fullbacks because the "touchline" is the best defender.

It is made much more difficult with the way QPR was pressing the ball not giving even our defenders time and space on the ball. Where was that from our attackers? Balotelli looked so disinterested the way he walked on the pitch. Pressing isn't gonna work if a 2nd or 3rd man doesn't participate and help trap the ball giving them an easy way to pass the ball out. Just look at how Balotelli turned his back on the play during the quick freekick that led to Dunne's own goal. To receive the ball then go to ground to slowdown the tempo is all he seem to do from what I've seen of him so far.

Mario must be a lonely man because he seems to like to stick around defenders instead of moving into open spaces like strikers should do. Every time he receives the ball he will hold it for a good 2-3 seconds to figure out what he wants to do with it which by then is already surrounded by 2-3 players. Why doesn't he turn and run with the ball? Why doesn't he quickly release the ball to open players near him? Why does he insist on so predictably shifting the ball to his right and rifle a shot into a defender who knows what's coming? Why does he always pass the ball backwards when he realize he is surrounded instead of passing it forward when he has time and space? The choices he makes are baffling and if I were his teammate I would already have made my frustrations clear to the manager. He might be talented but his footballing IQ is ZERO. I'm already losing faith in the Super Mario hype. Milan was right all along. They said he is not a number 9. If that is so why are we not giving him a partner to play with? Look at the way Sterling broke through the lines for that final goal, even Sterling would've made a fine forward to partner Balotelli with instead of wasting him on the wings. Even Hendo has made more runs to break the line than Balotelli.
