i'm reading too much negatives in this thread, and we're only 5 games into the season....
There's plenty of positives to take from the game, namely; - We got to finally see what Lallana-hype is all about, expect more to come from him in the team supporting Sturridge, Balo, Sterling - Both our right/left defenders can ONLY get better with more games under their belt - Enrique had an OK game, his first start of the season?? - Mignolet made some excellent saves, he needs to start YELLING more - Toure and Lovren should partner together - Rossiter and Williams from academy, good game As long as BR doesn't tinker much, I am expecting us to go upwards from here on |

QUOTE(reehdus @ Sep 25 2014, 09:52 AM) I think Balo got the right stuff. He's not a Sturridge/Suarez type player and won't be I fear. But what he has is a presence in the air and physicality. So often we've seen Suarez bullied and hard tackled to get him off the ball. Balo not doing what he does best as often as he should, but if you look at the goal vs Ludo and against West Ham, his control and touch can be quite good if he wants to (and no surprise that both crosses came in from Moreno). Remember Crouchy anyone? He only scored after what, 5 league games? As I mentioned before, Balo is a genuine plan B, the type Dalglish had in mind when he hired Carroll. But the problem is now, without Sturridge, we got 2 plan Bs on the field (Lambert and Balo). So the only choice is to put in Borini, who if you ask me should be plan Y. Balo has got the right stuff, he will deliver the goods sooner or later. Maybe my expectation is set at low, but given that he has not picked up bookings in the last few games, I already consider that a plus |

QUOTE(Petre @ Sep 25 2014, 02:00 PM) despite having so many captains on field, it felt like we dont have a leader on the field sometimes... Br, faster hire Roy Keaneif gerrard is leading by example, then we are screwed indeed... QUOTE(dillonyong @ Sep 25 2014, 02:46 PM) wow... and the memories remain. Are they still in operation?QUOTE(cherroy @ Sep 25 2014, 02:57 PM) You can't blame the negativity as Liv has been playing poorly for 6 matches out of 7 with 100 mil has been spent. If spending money is the main prerogative, then we better spend 100M every transfer. QUOTE(reehdus @ Sep 25 2014, 03:07 PM) Bring back Candy. What say everyone, should we start a petition? |

QUOTE(kevafk @ Sep 28 2014, 07:22 PM) Replacing manager is the worst thing to do here.. have some faith, u celebrated when liv win under BR u can't support him when he loses? remember Chelsea and Manc City are yet to slip up, Southampton's thin squad will catch up with them eventually (they've been lucky with injury so far)U win some u lose some, I know already some loses but it is not the end of the world. Again pointed out I never once see Liv buy super star even if they have target, they won't come. Proven player come with a cost, don't think Liv is ready to pay that kind of money transfer fee + wages. If he flops u just don't know how to get rid of him.. balo we got him cheap, don't think it was the best choice but some reinforcement. World class striker I can't think of one player that is reasonable price + young + proven + willing to come to Liv.. if you have one name it coz I just can't think of someone The jury is out for BR and his newly assembled squad, however let's put things into perspective... When Hodgson and Dalglish was managing we we'rent any better than the current situation, but BR has so far managed to steady the ship around and actually has faith in playing our lads from the academy.. |

QUOTE(3rdElements @ Sep 30 2014, 12:53 AM) Come one, please lower your expectation and please be patient to BR. Very interesting analysis, can't wait to see Valdes providing competition soon. Jones has been a bad understudy for a club like liverpoolhe need time to adjust 9 player to our formation or perhaps create new formation. remember how worst is Henderson when playing as RM/Winger ? the same thing goes to Marko & Balo some good analysis about last games > http://youtu.be/WV54FCLE6Ho |

Basel are the dark horses of qualifying in my opinion, they've been in Champs League more times in the last 5 years than us. So I won't rule out them putting up a good fight.
I'm expecting a tough draw tonight, given the weather condition in Switzerland I can only hope it does not rain when we play today. Stevie G and Hendo is definitely playing, no two ways abt it... |

QUOTE(kevafk @ Oct 10 2014, 12:28 PM) Feels good tho when Skrtel playing well.. I like Skrtel very much, last season he score most of the crucial goals for me. Makes me wonder why is his form in BPL not the same...hope he can be back to his scoring days soonBut yea Costa isn't Spain's material.. Likes A.Madrid they are very good at counter attack |

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ Oct 20 2014, 04:05 PM) The main problem I noticed last night was once again our non-existent midfield. By midfield I meant the midfield trio in the middle. The way they were positioned was almost as if we were only playing with defenders and forwards. Looking at how we build up play, it's always a ball cycle between our DM - FB - CB ending with a hoof up front. For those blaming BR for his obsession with tiki taka, does that look like tiki taka to you? It might be BR's fault but you can't blame him for sticking to his obsession of tiki taka because it isn't. Problem there was the midfield triangle and the full backs were spread so far apart they can't ping passes to each other resorting to always cycling the ball to a full back only to hoof it up or pass it back to the centre backs. I believe it was Pep Guardiola who once said never buildup play with your fullbacks because the "touchline" is the best defender. Super Mario hype is misguided at it's best, and the media plays a big part in this, over the past few months it's all about his story outside of football, heck even if he farts and it'll be in the news mind you.... It is made much more difficult with the way QPR was pressing the ball not giving even our defenders time and space on the ball. Where was that from our attackers? Balotelli looked so disinterested the way he walked on the pitch. Pressing isn't gonna work if a 2nd or 3rd man doesn't participate and help trap the ball giving them an easy way to pass the ball out. Just look at how Balotelli turned his back on the play during the quick freekick that led to Dunne's own goal. To receive the ball then go to ground to slowdown the tempo is all he seem to do from what I've seen of him so far. Mario must be a lonely man because he seems to like to stick around defenders instead of moving into open spaces like strikers should do. Every time he receives the ball he will hold it for a good 2-3 seconds to figure out what he wants to do with it which by then is already surrounded by 2-3 players. Why doesn't he turn and run with the ball? Why doesn't he quickly release the ball to open players near him? Why does he insist on so predictably shifting the ball to his right and rifle a shot into a defender who knows what's coming? Why does he always pass the ball backwards when he realize he is surrounded instead of passing it forward when he has time and space? The choices he makes are baffling and if I were his teammate I would already have made my frustrations clear to the manager. He might be talented but his footballing IQ is ZERO. I'm already losing faith in the Super Mario hype. Milan was right all along. They said he is not a number 9. If that is so why are we not giving him a partner to play with? Look at the way Sterling broke through the lines for that final goal, even Sterling would've made a fine forward to partner Balotelli with instead of wasting him on the wings. Even Hendo has made more runs to break the line than Balotelli. You were spot on in saying Balo is talented but IQ zero, the last few games showed how incapable he is to think before shooting and charging like a bull. Stud's loss was massive for us to finally regain some momentum but frankly BR should'v prepared it by getting proper reinforcements. Here's a thought, why not move Balo to the wings? |
