Yet another poor performance from the team despite winning the tie we were being stretched to the limits by a Championship team. Glad we went through.
Suso needs more games, it's obvious that he is being under utilized by BR in Premier League. God knows what's inside that mind of his. |

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ Sep 24 2014, 06:23 PM) Last season when Coutinho had the ball, all 3 of Sterling, Suarez and Sturj will be making off the ball runs looking to break in behind. Now we have static Balotelli and Lambert. Rodgers riding on Suarez's coat tail? I can see Balo adapting to our pressing and is working hard at times but he is too static when we have the ball. He is always standing with his back to goal and when he receives the ball he stops play and slows tempo by holding on trying to turn or eventually passing the ball back to be recycled again. What Suarez would do is to take the pass in his stride and run at the defence. Even if his back is to goal he would make some clever turn as soon as he receives the ball to either draw a foul or escape his marker. Markovic is looking like our worst signing of the summer. Yes he is young but judging from what we've seen he is looking really bad. Nothing like the pacey runner with the ball we have seen from highlights. He looks terrified of the ball always looking to pass it away and rarely ever runs with it. When he does his poor touch tends to push the ball too far and loses it. Suarez was the catalyst. When they had him in the team they would feed him the ball and everyone would start running into space looking to break because they know the brilliance of Suarez would make something happen and the ball will make its way to one of them. Now we have a bunch of ball watchers standing around waiting to receive the ball and this slows down tempo. Even Sterling is occasionally a culprit for overrunning the ball. Seems legit. |

QUOTE(lp16 @ Sep 25 2014, 09:22 AM) Our current slump is due to players just not pulling their weight together. They're just not playing as a cohesive unit. Unless we play to our true potential, another tough one against the Toffees and most probably dropping points again. Blaming players again.....that's y the cycle of buying players n 'loaning or freezing them out next season' when things don't work out never ends....Front line looked so toothless and movement off the ball is just non existent. I don't know, maybe Balo is just not that type of player that we need. Decent but not suited to our style. Of all our players, only Moreno and Sterling looks good. The rest....... Root of the problem overlooked again. |

QUOTE(farisq @ Sep 25 2014, 01:08 PM) how much... 100mil enough? My opinion is in line with cherroy, BR doesn't know how to tweak this newly assembled team. I don't know if he is able to, but I hope he finds out what is wrong as soon as possible.I get it to you BR is the problem. So what's the solution? replace him? hire defense coach? He has been looking clueless since the start of season, despite splashing 100mil on players, he doesn't know how to utilize them and the fact that we have seen how players like Allen, Aspas, Illori, Luis Alberto, Nuri Sahin, Moses, Assaidi, Borini all fail to shine under him further reinforce this notion. It's either they failed to perform as BR apologists like to think so OR ....another line of thought is BR failed to make them perform. My money is on the latter. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Sep 28 2014, 07:48 AM) The freekick goal was because of Balo being fouled as well. Gerrard is in the team for one and one only purpose. Take penalties and set pieces. We all know he is good at penalties and free kicks but suck at corners. The way BR celebrated the Gerrard's goal, doesn't suggest BR is going to bench Gerrard. With current play, no chance for Europa league position as well. League table won't lie, now sitting at 12th. So much money to buy Southampton players, but now they are 2nd with 13 points. That's why I don't believe in "gel" time excuse, they have more new first team players compared to Liv, and their new players transfer cost and wages is much less than Liv. Soto in 2nd? No problem, knowing BR, we can raid Pelle and Tadic for 20mil each! Which I think might as well get Koeman for 5mil a year. |

Rodgers is still in for me. Too premature at this stage to start talks about replacing him. His 3 yrs is not up yet so we will see how he fare this season.
This doesn't mean he has won my vote of confidence to turn things around. Lots of fans were sold by his tiki taka manifesto which evaporated quickly without a word. His signings over the years reflects the vision he has..only that he was completely clueless on how to use them after he signed them..the dud list is piling up...but It's unfair to boot him without giving him time ( in which he is already in his 3rd year now) to solve the conundrum which the team is facing now. He has all the quality players at his disposal, strong support from FSG, enough depth n a nicely laid green pitch without potholes n mushrooms. BR is facing the real test this season n his survival will largely depends on our CL performance n league standings come May 2015. This post has been edited by carloz28: Sep 28 2014, 02:48 PM |

QUOTE(bitebug @ Sep 28 2014, 08:46 PM) It's simple bro, we simply don't have anyone in front who can instill fear to the opponents' back four like Suarez did, or Sturridge. Balo, yeah he's good but he's too predictable. And he just can't seem to find that "space" to break through the defenders like what Suarez and Sturridge can. I trusted BR you know, when he said he was going for quality over quantity this season. But yeah, same ol' Rodgers. Of course, he's not the only one responsible for the transfers but yeah, he's the leader so. Speaking of transfers, BR is somewhat struggling to get big names to play for him. " What about Balotelli???" Balotelli is a BIG name indeed, often times he is famous for the wrong reasons. Of course, being a starting 11 in the Italian national side, he does qualify as a big name although the transfer fee does not justify his reputation, but can't help but to think that there are other factors in play. Is AC Milan in serious debt? Is AC Milan in a hurry to offload this problematic high profile striker? Balo is a genuine talent no doubt it, but he needs a team that can complement his style of play to maximise his efficiency. IF you are expecting him to drop deep and collect the ball and terrorize the flanks like Suarez or Sturridge, you will be disappointed for sure. His style is somewhat like Torres if I may. Back to the point of transfers, ask yourself, who are the players that has really emerges from the shadows under BR's tutelage? Only Sterling, and Sturridge perhaps. I like to put Coutinho in, but he is blowing hot and cold at the moment. White Cafu? He had a good season, but still it's premature to call him a world class player. The rest are either mediocre (Xavi, Luis Alberto, Ilori, Aspas, Assaidi, Borini), not given a chance (Suso) or not living up to their reputations.(Mignolet, Sakho). On a side note, Martin Kelly is growing leaps and bound in Crystal Palace. Talk about what a breath of fresh air! And everytime I read about Dusan Tadic, I feel like crying. This guy only cost 10mil to Soto and we splashed 20mil for Markovic. Both also Serbs. One is settling in nicely and the other is still looking disjointed. Scouts, try and answer this. Some say the monstrosity of Suarez must be credited to BR. I totally object to this. He is already beasting in the Dutch League and WC before he joined us. As a matter of fact, I believe that a monster player like Suarez indirectly galvanized the entire team last season more than the manager himself. Think about the first 5 games we played without him on the side and think about the games he played in, and you see how different it is. That notion is not wrong. Like I said, this season will be a litmus test for BR's credentials. He has been thrown all the support and time he needs in Liverpool and now it is the time to DELIVER the promises. And one more thing, giving good post and pre match interviews doesn't mean one is a great manager. It just shows one is good in English and nothing more than that. Mourinho says the darnest things, but as a manager, he is truly unbelievable. This post has been edited by carloz28: Sep 29 2014, 12:34 AM |

QUOTE(kevafk @ Sep 28 2014, 11:29 PM) Signing a good player takes alot of time & effort. Like I hired a person for my company. She told me how good is she, good written resume.. demanded high salary. I don't mind I sign her up with 1 year contract but turn out? Totally opposite.. If I'm the owner and you are the manager, I'll fire you on the spot for giving me such a poor sorry excuse on hiring a departmental driftwood. You won't know the quality until you actually signed and start working him the person. What I'm trying to say there is alot of if You can't just come up to me and say "Oops I'm sorry I dunno he's crap?" After wasting 10-20mil (using My marney) on transfers? We hired managers to make judgement calls like this and train them up to become an integral part of the team, and not just walk away if things do not work out. Managers should have at least have 50-70% accuracy on their abilities before sealing the deal. One can gamble with small fries & chicken feeds, and fine enough, you can have the leeway of getting one-two occasional duds if you do get most of your signings right. BUT IF your dud list is way longer than your success stories stretching over 3 seasons, you'll surely be subjected to scrutiny. Means you have serious issues judging a player, either that or you have been fed with Scout Nation's Greatest Compilation videos on Youtube. QUOTE(kenlimfornication @ Sep 29 2014, 12:54 PM) Thanks for your compliment for being a great fan. BUT bro, I think you are a greater fan. I'm nothing compared to you because I only keep the feeeith and cheerleadinggnering my team no matter what happens. Thing is, one don't need to be a LFC fan to know how things are managed in a football club. Every football club I know in the world is results driven, from Yeovil Town FC to Segambut Utara FC if you may. I do not know you well, or what do you do in your daily life, but the world I know is a results oriented place and all things do not automatically become rainbows in 5 years time. Progress are monitored time to time and when problems arises, root cause have to be pinpointed ASAP to cure the problem. Safe to say, we all know what will happen to BR if he does not meet his targets set by the club to him. With that said, obviously, I have the utmost respect for you hence, I think you should work with/for LFC. PS. there weren't discussion of what went wrong in BR's campaign. I think it's more to how and why he should leave if you are the owner. What we babbled here will not affect Rodger's position or LFC in whatsoever way, unless this is Spirit of Shankly maybe. This is just another forum for like minded people to discuss and debate, and you are always welcumed to share your thoughts to other fans here if you think BR has been unfairly attacked by ppl around here, or if BR has done a good job so far with the club. |

QUOTE(Petre @ Sep 29 2014, 02:35 PM) bro, still early season, so you rate its a failure and BR needs to be sacked? I dunno where you get the impression I'm calling for BR to be sacked. If you do read my previous postings, you will know where I stand now.is there a prize for chelsea say after 10games? say quarter of the cup? stay cool, if our team plays shit, just dont watch ps: i hate it, even for me who is impatient, i think this is too early. its even easier for ppl to laugh at us for this behavior just sayin' It's not that my opinion matters anyway. Criticising doesn't mean I want him out. Again my challenge is open, if you can find one word of me saying BR out I'll buy you a steak dinner..n if not you have to swallow your computer mouse lol. I hope Rodgers doesn't tell the lads they are happy with a DRAW in Basel.
This is definitely a must win game for Liverpool, irregardless of what form we are in. If you go in playing for a draw, there won't be any hunger to take 3 points from this. A win will also lessen the pressure on us when taking on RM. Rodgers must inject the proper mentality into our boys against Basel!!! Basel is solid team but they are still beatable IF Rodgers gets his tactics right. It's not OK to draw, imho This post has been edited by carloz28: Oct 1 2014, 02:47 PM |
