Money is king in modern football. Top teams like RM, PSG, City, Chelsea and Barca share a common trait, they all have very very rich benefactors. Certainly in Liverpool's current spot, the money will definitely help us land top class players. Loyalty and pride in modern football? Forget it. Everyone's a mercenary nowadays. United's is pretty much in a similar spot with us right now except they have more money to spend on players. Without SAF, the only way for them to compete with the top teams is to try to buy success. Something which they claimed would never do


If it's gonna bring us more money, I say bring in the Arabs and the Russians. Or someone who do better business than Rodgers and Co. So much money spent of fringe players....

It is unfair to compare the Liverpool under Benitez and the Liverpool under BR. Rafa had to scrap the bottom of the barrel to get his transfer funds back then. Even then, Rafa still has a better record than BR in his first 2 years at Liverpool. Transforming Carra and Hyypia, signed Luis Garcia, Alonso, Crouch, Agger, Reina, Sissoko in the process. Not forgetting he was also partly responsible for convincing Gerrard not to move to Chelsea back then. Also the creme de la creme, the 2005 champions league.

Why does Rodgers can't seem to drop Gerrard? What makes him undroppable? Would you rather have Coutinho, Allen and Hendo on the field or have Gerrard on? I just can't understand Rodgers. Coutinho is only starting to regain his form back and there he was, sitting on the bench. Instead, he opted for a 32 year old who had just gone through an intense midweek game with no form.

Barca is Messi's team. He even kicked out Sanchez and chose a coach for the team.

It's not as much as not getting a "big" name players, it's because of the choices he made and the current forms of the players, or lack thereof. Take Soton for example. They lost most of their star players and they didn't have problem replacing them. Clearly they're doing something wrong over there at Anfield. It's one thing to play badly. But it's another thing to play badly after spending >100m on players...
