Why is it surprising? How many have actually come through since Carra, Owen, Gerrard? Even the "promising" foreign youngsters we signed over the years aren't making it whereas Chelsea and City currently have quite a few very highly rated gems in their ranks.

Tonite , if Balo, Shako & Mignolet dun play , we will win.
Enough said.

Lol this comment looks foolish now.

20 mins in, game is pleasing to watch. Apart from Marko, everyone has stepped up their game and bossed the opponent. Fluid passing with great movement. Hope to see Marko improving his game with the squad as the match progresses
*
Not sure if we are watching the same game here. Apart from a short spell later in the first half we've played with no tempo and no creativity all game. Passing is slow and predictable. Movement is poor. Less said about our crossing the better. Offense is dire if you ask me. Markovic looks even worse than Downing.

Lucky escape tonight. If only we had started with intensity.

Stayed up for the game at least we won tongue.gif.. Markovic doesn't look confident with the ball. Give him more time don't rush it, others did pretty well.

Coutinho was massive for this game constantly creating chances, just need better front man. Borini did ok with an assist. Lucas looks fresh after sitting out so many games.
*
Borini played really well tonight. Only him and Coutinho were making contributions to our offense. Manquillo is too wasteful with his crosses.

Markovic is just unbelievable. For a player touted as a winger blessed with pace and trickery. I have seen NONE of it since pre season. All he does it pass it back or horizontally. He can't even make a simple dribble to get the ball away from a player in front of him pressing the ball.

Kolo is definitely performing very well this season despite the calamities of last season. Even Lovren had shaky moments last night struggling with Gomis.

Iago Aspas scored hat trick last night for Sevilla  hmm.gif

gotta wonder is it player problem or coaching problem?
*
Don't know about other players but can't really blame BR on Aspas' failure here. He's been given chances and has failed miserably everytime at basic things like passing and first touch so tactics is out of the question here. He's just not made for PL is all I can say.

Newcastle United v Liverpool

Newcastle have had five players sent off in their last four Premier League games against Liverpool.

Only Everton (13 v Liverpool) have picked up more red cards against one single opponent than Newcastle against Liverpool (11).

Liverpool have scored more goals against Newcastle in the Premier League (84) than versus any other opponent.

The Reds have scored 598 goals away from home in Premier League history.

No fixture in Premier League history has produced more goals than clashes between Liverpool and Newcastle (129).

Against no side have Liverpool won more often than they have against Newcastle in the Premier League (23 wins - level with their record v Aston Villa).

Daniel Sturridge has scored six goals in eight Premier League games against Newcastle, including four in three for Liverpool. He is likely to miss this game, however, through injury.

Fabio Borini has scored three goals in three Premier League games against the Magpies - he's not scored more than once against any other opponent.

Liverpool have won four and lost just one of their last seven Premier League games against the Magpies (D2).

However, Newcastle United have won two and lost just one of the last four home games against the Reds in the Premier League.

Papiss Cisse has scored a goal every 61 minutes so far this season, the best record in the Premier League of all players to have scored more than once.

Sterling is wasted on the wings. He is not a winger. HE CAN'T CROSS! HE CAN'T EVEN GET THE BALL PAST A DEFENDER!

A midfield trio of Allen, Gerrard and Hendo is too defensive, not players who can bring the ball forward resulting in too many slow backpasses and no tempo to the offense.

It was countered last season by having 2 upfront freeing space for Sterling at the tip to bring it forward with speed. Now...lol...

Brendan Rodgers: "We didn't get going in the first half but did better in the second. Unfortunately mistake at the other end. Young Moreno will learn from this."

More or less what he's gonna say...

Disappointing match..  Simply desperate need Sturridge back asap

Our season hinges on the fitness of Glass Legs instead of the man in charge?

Sturridge to emulate Suarez and save his ass?

Why is BR insisting on playing with an extra man in the middle instead of upfront is what I don't get.

Does that extra man offer us defensive solidity that will prevent us from conceding? NO!

Does that extra man give us more possession? Yes but only in our own half instead of looking to score with possession.

When we lost, balo this, balo shit. Balo useless.. We has shit 20million cb who cannot defend. We have shit lb and rb. We have shit dm. U expect balo has to bring ball from defend to attack. He helpless at front..stupid br for stupid tactic.
*
I know Lovren looked shaky tonight and Moreno was at fault for the goal but I won't even blame them because even if we didn't concede there we never looked like scoring. It was as if we were playing for a point unless of course you were expecting a point and will be happy with it.

There is something seriously wrong with the system. Whatever new tactic or style BR is trying to impose here is clearly not working as the players have shown no sign of improvement from day one.
