Dear memberz in ICE-forum

I wanna know more how to define good sound. I have changed my car speaker today and i only find it's lounder plus a bit more clarity.

I am NOW using a AIWA HU, JVC speakers 6X9 or 3X9 ar..hahah doh.gif , and one component set AUDIO-something worth RM 300 ( Tweeter, Crossover, @ Front speaker ) please forgive me i am newborn in ICEworld.

What i want is CLARITY of vocals when i hear live concerts or solo performance, not the sharp irritating sound..( which left my ears feeling uneasy today, after i turn up the volume ). And some solid BASS when i play R&B songs.. very rare in hard-metal or feng-tau songs either.

I plan to get another AMP and SUB/Woofer next month as recommended by the salesperson. He charge me RM 500 oh. He said no need expensive amp, coz AMP is AMP loh. Ishh.. .. rclxub.gif Will it help? I don't wanna buy something not equivalent to my expected result. Plz Plz save me from slaughtering.. .. LOLz

where are u from?
you should have posted this before you got ur ICE changed. Get some advice. and do some research in order to know what you are buying. As far as I know, not many people in ICE use 6x9 speakers as they are "noisy" unless you are really patient and have good crossover to tune it. As for your component set, for RM 300 you can get a rather nice set of speakers, but what you got, you don't even know the name sweat.gif

Do some research before your next upgrade. there are some really good forums such as this one, and a lot more.

Welcome to the ICE world! thumbup.gif

Does ur player come with preset eq?

if it does then u can boost the mid higher and decrease the treble if u wanted clarity from live songs. For me i always pump treble and bass as live perfomance's quality of
is not clear at norm.

give ur speaker somemore time see if there's any changes after the run in period
if no changes i recommend to change to some other more reputable brand of speakers b4 investing on an amp which will make no big difference to ur current speaker ... as the sound characteristic will not change... if u really wan some good sound....spend sometime read in forum.. not ask from the shop.. they all just wanna have profit.. not satisfaction smile.gif

Give your speaker chance for 1 week to 2 weeks...

If you need Vocal, try using speaker for vocal which got 2" or 3" voice coil speaker...
For HU, I never use the eq la & bla bla function... feel sound lack natural liao

LOL never trust a salesperson. If they know that u know nothing, they will just crap till you believe, check out forums more. Learn a bit here and there, next time u go to a shop, u tell them something what you want and what is really true, they know u know things and they wont give u those lies anymore.

That's what I did when I went to a shop pretending to know nothing, then this salesman keep recommending me nonsence. Once i said something a bit deep, he straight "Ah, you wait ah, I ask my colleague" WAKAKAKA

tongue.gif I think it's a amp plus sub-woofer he said. Is there big diff to install a sub-w comparing a woofer in a kancil. AIWA setting there can only control bass, treble and H-Bass(wat's dat), since i don't hav the boom-boom sound i'll on d H-Bass, but the boom boom is overlapping the vocals.. ..aiya how to explain. I'm sure sifu know what i meant.

Go for MB Quart. The high freq can go very loud smile.gif Too loud for some but the crossover got few options for you to play around with without adjusting the treble of your HU.

I would rather stay away from MB Quart based on the threadstarter's posting that the current set sounds sharp, most probably a wiser way is to stay away from metal tweeters, THOUGH, not ALL metal tweeters would sound sharp or bright, but most MB Quart tweeters are.

To know more about ICE, why not head over to the Brothers outlet in Kelana Jaya (the big one opposite some shoplots under construction)... Look for a guy in the Audio dept. called Fui, he will be able to help you with your queries... He certainly did in my quest for getting an amp!

Well, Brothers not welcome in Penang, atleast not good for most pll I know on ICE. Anyway, knowledge on ICE is the only way can help. Do more forum browsing on basic knowledge then you'll know what to look for.

If install woofer and amp, why put 6x9 at the first place, to me is a waste. This is how accessories shop make money. Sure later the clearity will effect, then they will propose new set of component speaker.

RM500 to get a amp and woofer, sure the quality won't be satisfying.

never ever go to brothers, they will recommend their own brand. As if they are so good. Price also almost the same. Go to places where they sell good brands. Best is if you know the salesman or the technician/installer(is that what u call them?)

Problem with most Malaysian buyers is that they tend to freak out when they hear the names of those "Big Names Shops" as if it's known to cut-throat without even being there before. The fact is, most big name shops like ACP, KKLau, Auto Gadget or KF Audio actually have decently and competitively priced products and not just slaughter away, in fact, i would rather say the people that manage these places are far friendlier than thought and often would give a better offer.

bro.. i 101% supports wat u said.. m'sian problem.. rm10-rm50 (2 compare wif those unknown shops) u spent extra but the service u get back is worth more than that instead.. anyway shops like kf audio, they do haf those lower end series (budget series)..

i dam* "7" hate those accessories shop that install amplifier wif that "aeroplane" sound.. it makes me fly high up in the sky rclxub.gif rclxub.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

The thing is, aeroplane sound can come from everywhere, not just the amps. There are too many possibilities of aeroplane sound and all u need to do is screw 9 the salesman and ask him to troubleshoot till no more aeroplane sound for free.

Typical RCA sound would be ground loop and also bundling of RCAs and Power cables together, though, certain RCAs wouldn't be affected, but well, then again, usual shops would have some cap ayam RCA without much shielding anyway.

Tweeter pitching sound, try tuning. Or modify it with a resistor to cut the frequency. I can't judge from here on the tweeter faulty.

Front component set ready, the next stage I recomend go for single sub-woofer and a 4ch amp. 6x9 speaker can sell or trade in d. Coz sure it will decrease your whole ICE performace on SQ, from my own experince.
