It's true. The better FX do have higher IPC and cache, even better when overclock. It's a free space heater too.
AMD beast is the FX9590, yet AMD demoes the Radeon Pro Duo on an Intel X99 platform. There's a need for a better CPU to unleash the Radeon. The FX isn't it.

Not surprising. Synthetic benchmarks were already programmed to utilized the cores as much as they can.

Games on the other hand were developed based on what's available.

Dev still need to code for it, and i think Ryzen SMT is still not fully utilize in current software solution, heck HyperThreading used to give me negative scaling in some games many years ago but now not anymore.

I believe CL15 kit have better compatibility.
My CL16 kit only can run 2933MHz ( pumped to 1.375V still same ) although rated 3200MHz, but I use 2660MHz for better stability. On 1st gen Ryzen 7 1700 with quite new BIOS.

They have good and bad models, Pro Carbon is one of the good ones I think. My Titanium Gaming on the other hand is like what Someonesim posted regardless of what BIOS it is updated to.

I wanted to keep using my current Asrock x370 board as well.
Do you have any memory compatibility issue before ? My current board can't fully utilize TridentZ 3200, only stable at 2666, even 2933 might crash randomly.

Updated few times already, last one this year.

Spend over an hour tuned down CL and other latency, even tested over 1.35V and motherboard voltages.
No chance, from Reddit feedback, first gen Ryzen ram compatibly bad and I didn't get the "correct" memory die brand/model
After that just give up and use lower speed.

Mine are TridentZ RGB 3200 8gb X 2 but not the expensive cl14
