It's true. The better FX do have higher IPC and cache, even better when overclock. It's a free space heater too.
AMD beast is the FX9590, yet AMD demoes the Radeon Pro Duo on an Intel X99 platform. There's a need for a better CPU to unleash the Radeon. The FX isn't it.
*
i totally agree fx is too ancient to compete, FX 8 series cant barely fight an i5, on cfx configurations fx just cant cut it

Hi all, any one here utilize crossfire on apu ? I'm using A10 7890k apu and plan to crossfire with GPU . What's the best match for crossfire ?
*
not advisable to run dual graphics, i have done it and some games stutter so bad till unplayable. better go discrete graphics rx 460

Not surprising. Synthetic benchmarks were already programmed to utilized the cores as much as they can.

Games on the other hand were developed based on what's available.

I'm gonna jump ship when Ryzen 5 is out, bang for buck cpu gaming performance I'd say it's due to games Un optimised for Ryzen, future games with dx 12 sure will make Ryzen shine

Dev still need to code for it, and i think Ryzen SMT is still not fully utilize in current software solution, heck HyperThreading used to give me negative scaling in some games many years ago but now not anymore.
*
Yeah there was once upon a time HT causes issues for games, its the same here for amd i assume , this cpu is a multi threading beast is all i can say

I believe CL15 kit have better compatibility.
My CL16 kit only can run 2933MHz ( pumped to 1.375V still same ) although rated 3200MHz, but I use 2660MHz for better stability. On 1st gen Ryzen 7 1700 with quite new BIOS.
*
weird my x370 pro carbon can do 3200mhz using xmp profile no issues, upgrade your bios, trident z xkan kenot 3200mhz

They have good and bad models, Pro Carbon is one of the good ones I think. My Titanium Gaming on the other hand is like what Someonesim posted regardless of what BIOS it is updated to.

Oh nice !
I wanted to keep using my current Asrock x370 board as well.
Do you have any memory compatibility issue before ? My current board can't fully utilize TridentZ 3200, only stable at 2666, even 2933 might crash randomly.
*
update bios bro

Spend over an hour tuned down CL and other latency, even tested over 1.35V and motherboard voltages.
No chance, from Reddit feedback, first gen Ryzen ram compatibly bad and I didn't get the "correct" memory die brand/model
After that just give up and use lower speed.

i was previously using a msi x370 gaming pro carbon with r7 1700 i could boot my corsair vengeance 3200mhz using the xmp profile. ur on 16gb (8gb x 2) ?

Mine are TridentZ RGB 3200 8gb X 2 but not the expensive cl14 sad.gif

try use ryzen dram calculator and manually key in the sub timings. I managed to squeeze my corsair 3200mhz cl6 all the way to 3600 CL16 on my x570.
