John Wick - Master of headshot
It's a very enjoyable action flick. Really like how they establish an underworld society where you hire cleaners to take care of corpses and a santuary hotel for nefarious individual. They deals in mysterious gold coin currency. While Keanu provides the badassery of "gun-fu-ing" headshots left and right, there are enough impressive "actors" to drive the story forward.Especially Michael Nyqvist providing a pretty effective mob boss. Wish they can make another movie within this John Wick world. The action sequences are refreshing and efficient where you able to follow clearly who doing what. |

wick1
wik/Submit noun 1. a strip of porous material up which liquid fuel is drawn by capillary action to the flame in a candle, lamp, or lighter. Movie's tagline is 'Don't set him off'. Basically a play on words. Keanu's a bomb with a fuse/wick bla bla bla. |

Dah tgk. Mmg shoot 'em up straight from start to finish. Dumb mafia son pergi curik keta John Wick and kill his dog. After that dont close ur eyes, dont even blink. Non stop shooting. Keanu's pace and action style, selamba headshot, xckp banyak.
If there's one thing i've learned from watching Keanu's movies.. 1. he's so obsessed with kungfu (watch his Man of Tai Chi movie) 2. he loves gun fights 3. he is the one @ Neo |

John Wick (2014)
There is something very old school about this movie. And I don't mean 1980s old school, further back then that. Back to when Warner Brothers were churning out a lot of Gangster movies... I don't know why, the feeling of this movie is a throw back to that period... Gangster/Film Noir-ishness. And IT IS GREAT!!!! AS of yesterday, I have watched 3 moths in the past three weeks and all three movies are GREAT!!! Okay, back to this movie, how throw back is this movie, if this movie was a silent movie, the context of the movie would still have been CLEAR!!! Don't get me wrong, when I say old school does it mean this movie is not violent, Far from it!! There aren't any good guys here! There are just people with/without code of conduct!!! Go watch this. I cannot emphasize this move, GO WATCH THIS!! My Two Sen This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Nov 20 2014, 11:07 PM |

this movie screams PREQUEL all over it
- the 'impossible task' handed to Wick by Viggo - Wick history with Leguizamo,Dafoe,McShane character - his backstory of how he meets Helen(Bridget Moynahan) - and last but not least, just can't get enough of Ms Perkins |

Instead of shooting John afar with their gun they choose to walk 1 feet in front of him before pulling the trigger. |

Streaming is out. 3GB Kill!!! (3x) Die!!! (3x) Keanu's too old for this. Otherwise, he would have been stronger and quicker. A lot of action...nice. Up until Iosef's and Viggo's ending...too weak. USA propaganda movie. Using a dog to insult the Russians. Ukraine-Russia conflict thingy. This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Jan 15 2015, 05:11 PM |

To anybody wanting to watch this movie, know this: do not f&*k with John Wick.
Everyone in the movie, besides the villain's son, knows how much of a badass John is and always has to either prepare against him, or lari takut Very good to see Keanu has graduated from wooden man into old wooden man, ala Liam Neeson |

QUOTE(Rudd @ Feb 8 2015, 12:18 PM) how is there is a sequel, To be fair most of them died before even firing a shot or before they can even aim. I think a good premise for a second movie is a prequel. Hope they didn't portray it like Equalizer, too slow and not enough headshot action.i tot ending is, thats all. no more shooting useless bullet to baba yaga, as it will not hit him at all. not even 1 bullet. edit: He got shot twice though... A sequel was already confirmed a few months ago but whether Reeves will be back or not is not confirmed, until now.

It's so good! They focus more on the close combat and minimum car chase. It goes to show you don't need big explosions to make a good action movie. And we finally see Wick killing people with a fucking pencil! XD

I thought the opening scene was amazing. It helped that the volume was extra loud and you can feel every crash, gun shot and punches.
I thought it got a bit too repetitive with the shooting and all towards the end but its probably because I was tired and needed to pee so I couldn't focus. It was obvious certain parts where the woman took off her clothes were cut and we missed a few dialogues. |

QUOTE(skylinelover @ Feb 10 2017, 11:55 PM) check out the matrix reunion awww  It good to see john (wick) I mean Keanu dishing something that caters for this genre. 👌🏻You know they are, many years has passed since matrix when both looking & carrying a little excesses 😣😂. I wanted to shout "Morpheus" when Lawrence came on 😂😂 Plot & story is wafer thin but it serves to wet the appetite. The ending serves up something that will probably confirm that they have room to maneuver chapter 3 into work. (Guess they only need a confirmation by fans to have a BO hit numbers, which by the looks of it likely & easily match the first one) Some comments got me laughing |

Well, the first & this episode storyline also quitr straight forward I like that. It's full of interesting action pack, not just some dullness action. Fully enjoyed this movie.

Beside head-shotting anything that moves in the first movie, the most intriguing part for me is the underground world of assassins. The sequel expand that world to basically give an excuse to unleash wanton of body counts. Give me John Wick anytime over any spandex clad cgi duking it out on the screen. Do wonder how many more sequels they are willing to put out given the fact set-up for the third already established in the cliffhanger. Another 3 more within the next 10 years otherwise old man Keanu will be rocking in wheelchair to gun fu his way out.
Lionsgate on a roll right now with 4 oscar nominated movies and now this. Guess they manage to move away from making schlocky horror movies for years. They are on the verge of closing shop few years back. |

Nicely action packed sequel. Apart from the action sequence and straight forward story line, I'm more interested in the underground world of assassins. Glad they put more time expanding it which we only get a glimpse on previous installation.
By the way, I can't help to think that other assassins have the shooting ability of a stormtrooper. They indeed hit John Wick but all of them only aim at his body instead of head which he's so godly good at. |

Yeah it reminds me of Constantine when they mentioned a neutral place where both or all parties lay aside their hostilities when they come.

Damn sudah macam cerita John Woo.
All tembak tembak sana sini. The way John Wick shooting his enemies almost like fast moving, but without fancy pose and dancing, unlike John Preston in Equilibrium. There's a different between gun-fu and gun-kata. |

Actually the assassin world felt like those Wuxia movies of yesteryear. Operate with code and honor. Laurence Fishburne's gang just like the beggar clan. The 3rd movie most likely end up high table power struggle with Winston's marker as a wild card. I don't think we see the last of Rome continental manager or even Peter Stormare for that matter.

John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
It would not be a surprise to people who constantly read this thread that I am a fan of the first John Wick movie. It blindsided me. So, my expectation for the second movie is high. QUOTE(eric.tangps @ Feb 19 2017, 01:15 AM) there is a mention that a member of High Table comes from China.... With Donnie Yen's name, will draw chinese investor hence dumbing down the story to cater China market. Not that it can't be rule of exception, just that I doubt it can be faithful to what we came to love about John Wick. Would rather they use Iko Uwais or someone famous but not a superstar as that will free up the film makers from tip toeing to politically correcting expectation of these superstars. No way Donnie Yen will be portray as someone inferior to Keannu Reeves. Unless there are a really a good story out of it. would it be part 3, John Wick in China vs Donnie Yen? The china censorship will insist the mandatory ruling that crime will always pay and not to glorify it. That's the reason why action movies from China nowadays very arbitrary. |

Kinetic, impactful, brutal and mesmerizing.
That's how I cam sum up Chapter 2. They went slightly bigger and faster but much deeper than before, a very conscious decision. The gunplay scenes... Holy wow. Stunning. I can feel the adrenaline increasing... This is the Mad Max of gunplay. Terrific! I loved the how the film ends, and I think if it ends the way it did without further sequels, it would be fantastic rather than a finite/its-all-happy-now ending. It leaves the audience to think that John Wick is 'always on the run'... an ironic predicament considering he went all out to 'free himself'. Brilliantly directed and well paced. Action film fans will not regret this! 9/10 ... can I say I wanted... more? "La La Land", "Arrival", "John Wick Chapter 2" - - my films for the year thus far. What a contrast between them! |

QUOTE Lionsgate has won a bidding war to pick up a female-centric spec action script titled Ballerina that will serve as a platform for a possible John Wick spinoff. QUOTE Ballerina has been described as being in the vein of La Femme Nikita, the 1990s female-centric assassin movie that helped launch the career of filmmaker Luc Besson, but with a more pulpy, hyper-stylized bent a la Quentin Tarantino or Matthew Vaughn. Le fuuu----
When I heard they were making a sequel to the 'one hit wonder' John Wick, I thought no way a sequel was going to be good. As it turns out, JW2 was almost two notches higher octane than the first. The third from the trailer, looks like it is going ALL OUT mayhem what with the $14 million bounty and all. Can't wait!! |

I just rewatched John Wick 1 and 2.
1 question, how come civilians in the movie ignore what's happening around them? John Wick is being chase, carrying guns and body full of blood, but civilians are not surprise by it, they just ignore and continue with whatever they are doing. It's like civilians are NPC in a game. |

QUOTE(WiLeKiyO @ Jan 21 2019, 11:55 PM) I just rewatched John Wick 1 and 2. There's this scene at tail-end of John Wick 2, as Winston talks to John & the civilians around the park simply stop & turn their attention towards John. As John runs for his life & Winston declaring $14 million bounty on his life, almost everyone is aware of John's vulnerable state: from street-side beggar to Mom playing with her child in cradle to lovely couples😂😂😂Basically sayin in John Wick's fictional world, everyone's an assasin: men, women notwithstanding1 question, how come civilians in the movie ignore what's happening around them? John Wick is being chase, carrying guns and body full of blood, but civilians are not surprise by it, they just ignore and continue with whatever they are doing. It's like civilians are NPC in a game. Even if the civilians arent exactly assasins, they gotta be some sorta mercenaries or linked with underworld/Continental/High Table in someway. Dat, or perhaps to avoid being dragged into unnecesarry bloody brutalities as if living in John Wick's world isnt brutalizing enuf |

John's legendary caliber as ferocious, devil-incarnate hitman was still in minds of everyone....even after he retired. Even then, a spoilt brat killed his dog, took his car & bashed John like dude was nobody. It was only after his Dad revaled who John was, his hitman status dat we ourselves learnt what John's capable off In Chapter 2, John was reluctant to return. Despite the marker. Add the fact he's gonna kill some higher authority figure that'll incur wrath of High Tables who'll come after his life Point is. John's mission was only to take-out 1 tycoon lady. It was supposed to be sneak-kill-leave. Turns out he had to fight off Cassian & his men, countless Antonio's henchmen & finally dude was declared excomunicado, leaving his life open to be taken by anyone who wants 14 million bounty...making him open to international hitman (friends, foes all alike) But even as Winston told John abt all these....John was cool af saying "Winston...tell them...tell them all....whoever comes....whoever it is...I'll kill them...I'll kill them all..." giving frickin tough & cold mfker expression The way I see it, John was already wounded by several gun shots & tired from all those fights. Dude 1st needs a place for refuge, heal his wounds & revitalize his body to 100% b4 fighting his way outta entire world. Dats what the scene tries to portray with him running for his life imo |

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Just so everyone is on the same page, Parabellum is Latin for be prepared for war. The movie is aptly named, if you asked me. Director Chad Stahelski, what can I say about him? He was a stunt man in The Matirc (1999) and learnt the art of movie story telling from The Wachowski Brothers. Not only the art of storytelling (which, based on their last few works, the The Wachowski Brothers/Sisters themsleves had forgotten how to...) also the art of movie universe creation. Which leads me to John Wick. The first movie is the hardest. Why? You had to create the universe, the characters, the rules and whether the general viewing audience to take to your concepts. Once that is established, in John Wick 2, they had to expended the movie universe. Most of you know that sequels rarely work. If you give the audience what they want (more of part one) they will accuse you of pandering to the masses. If you change things on they, they will yell sacrilege. So, as I had said, not easy. You have to find a middle ground and Chad Stahelski found the middle path for the John Wick 1 & 2. So how did he fare in the third movie? In a nutshell, good. The movie universe is expended yet again. If you like violence in your movie, boy do I have a movie for you. Most characters from the previous movies return (except for the beagle.... poor puppy) Everything here works. The downside is, to make the action bigger, more explosion etc, the action was not "consistent" from the previous movies (I am talking about the fight style of Keanu), until the third act, and the evolution of John Wick fight style returned, and it was... spectacular. I have to talk a little about Mark Dacascos here. I believe he is one of the most underrated martial arts action star out there. He has got the moves, just unfortunately, he had not had luck with movie projects and audience. Based on skill alone, he should have had a much larger audience base... c'est la vie. So... did I like this Yes Will it be the movie to knock Avenger Endgame out of the No 1 pedestal? We shall see. Will they make another John Wick? My concern would be would Keanu be up to it (he is 56 yo... Everybody grows older.... not younger.. On the special note, My Two Sen |

As a sequel, this is a better movie than the second one. This instalment greatly benefited from having actual action stars in it. Mark Dascascos and The Raid Bros ramps up the energy for the last action set-piece. Halle Berry another fine addition to the ever expanding characters of "Wick-niverse". Enjoy her action set-piece the most for me. Another cool bits are the creative kills this time around.
Pretty sure will revisit this over and over again. |

Kecian Keanu for shooting this movie, he must be very tired , fighting from start until finish . Not to mentioned he is not getting any younger.

QUOTE(ThalaFan @ May 19 2019, 11:51 AM) Looks similar to Chapter 2's ending. But at least Chapter 2 had pulsating bgm + various reaction-shots + Wick's escaping scenes = epic i actually agree that jw2 is very well balanced.I understand the makers are attempting something big...expanding the lore...but felt they could've done at least 50% of it in this film's 2nd half itself...instead of Parabellum While I admired over-the-top relentless action scenes in this film...by far the best over last decade or so, felt plot in original part 1 was gripping...for some reasons...felt Chapter 2 found neat balance between action & plot. I wanted k jw3 is a bit too much action and doesn't progress the movie by much. anyhow, jw is on a bounty from start to finish. before the movie, and after jw2, people have been predicting that jw is gonna go for high table to save himself. looks like this storyline is dragged. not sure whether jw4 will wrap up or they gonna continue dragging the storyline. pros: book kill motor kill (looks better in the trailer than it actually does in the movie) knives throw sophia in action (love the dogs) cons: not much storyline a bit too much drama in the hotel with the black guy. round 1 normal bullets, round 2 armour piercing bullets. duh! Just remembered there was a rumbling about a spin-off JW movie titled "Ballerina" from last year's article. Wondering is it the tattooed dancer when Keanu seek passage from Angelica Huston. The camera linger on her for a considerable amount of time.

You guys notice that some of baddies were left to live just like in 2nd film?
it will be awesome if they all come back in next sequel and take side with John Wick. It would be super awesome. |

If anybody can update when the time comes if there are major cuts in the cinema release, that would be good. Thank you.

Expect the movie add in "tribute" message at the last minute before the movie releases
QUOTE(Agent001 @ Mar 19 2023, 08:24 PM) If anybody can update when the time comes if there are major cuts in the cinema release, that would be good. Thank you. I expect 1/2 cuts maximumNothing major until it derails the storyline off like PULAU I remember Part 3 cuts away "Wick stabbing with knife slowly in the eyes of the assassin" Eventually you can see that in Netflix airing of John Wick 3 So 4 part 4 if you sense unsatisfying cuts just wait 4 it in Netflix in 2 years because i think Part 3 was also up the platform quite long after cinema This post has been edited by skylinelover: Mar 19 2023, 10:07 PM |

Chad used 2 be my favorite anti-heroes actor in most of the early to mid 90s action movie.
Then from Matrix stunt double 2 helming the bestest action series in 9 years ever is one hell of the ballsy talent man. Dude just blows Die Hard action classic out of the water easily. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So yeah. 4th movie is indeed the reply to The Raid Redemption 2. Everything is bigger and longer than the previous one. This post has been edited by skylinelover: Mar 23 2023, 02:42 PM |

John Wick: Chapter 4 R.I.P. Lance Reddick (Charon) This is a very long movie (3 hours plus). A heads up, there is an end credit screen after ALL the end credits... Story wise, the end is... logical. Action sequences are OFF THE CHARTS! Almost something always happens in every scene. I cannot even begin to fathom how the heck they manage to get the Arc de Triomphe scene! Every John Wick movie, the universe it is set in grows, this is the biggest of them all. Here are all my nick picking about the movie » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Bill Skarsgård character Marquis is well done. He is turning out to be quite a chameleon. After a movie one of the audience while waiting for the lift exclaimed, he's got such a punchable face!! I enjoyed this. I can usually tell how a movie end half way in. I did not guess how they actually ended the movie. Kudos. I enjoyed this. Great that they got the circle story line completed. To the censorship board credit, I did not notice any major cuts. Then again they are usually more liberal with violent scenes. With that, My Two Sen. skylinelover, yhtan, and 1 other liked this post

not to rain on jw franchise parade here but i personally think this jw4 was a major disappointment. same old same old jw try to bulldoze his way to get his target. just one scene that i feel quite refreshing is when jw use the dragon breath shotgun and looks like they filmed it on just 1 take. gaeria84 liked this post

It got way too repetitive near the end, I was already feeling bored and withdrawn by the time john wick reached the stairs And the finale was underwhelming as heck Missed opportunity also, could've brought back cassian, sofia, shinobis, adjudicator for round 4 and ended it in style This post has been edited by gaeria84: May 25 2023, 03:11 PM |
