QUOTE(masterelr @ Feb 9 2017, 10:07 PM) I thought the opening scene was amazing. It helped that the volume was extra loud and you can feel every crash, gun shot and punches. As expected the last part I thought it got a bit too repetitive with the shooting and all towards the end but its probably because I was tired and needed to pee so I couldn't focus. It was obvious certain parts where the woman took off her clothes were cut and we missed a few dialogues. |

QUOTE(defaultname365 @ Feb 8 2017, 04:15 AM) Fuu... I thought the sequel would be subpar at best... you know how it is with sequels nowadays Early reviews are very strong. ![]() QUOTE(cooly @ Feb 9 2017, 06:25 PM) QUOTE(erald06 @ Feb 9 2017, 08:38 PM) It's so good! They focus more on the close combat and minimum car chase. It goes to show you don't need big explosions to make a good action movie. And we finally see Wick killing people with a fucking pencil! QUOTE(-kytz- @ Feb 10 2017, 10:51 AM) Will be watching this movie tonight due to the immensely good reviews but I haven't watched the first one before.. First one is great but action 2 short 4 my liking QUOTE(6so @ Feb 11 2017, 11:06 AM) Beside head-shotting anything that moves in the first movie, the most intriguing part for me is the underground world of assassins. The sequel expand that world to basically give an excuse to unleash wanton of body counts. Give me John Wick anytime over any spandex clad cgi duking it out on the screen. Do wonder how many more sequels they are willing to put out given the fact set-up for the third already established in the cliffhanger. Another 3 more within the next 10 years otherwise old man Keanu will be rocking in wheelchair to gun fu his way out. Haha i always regard lionsgate as indie action studios just like orion/cannon in the 80s and NU image in the 90s but yeah they suddenly already jump in the ranks of the big 4 of WB columbia paramount and MGM/UA formed by the great charlie chaplin Lionsgate on a roll right now with 4 oscar nominated movies and now this. Guess they manage to move away from making schlocky horror movies for years. They are on the verge of closing shop few years back. This post has been edited by skylinelover: Feb 12 2017, 11:22 AM |

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Feb 16 2017, 11:27 PM) John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) You so late? I always thought you are the elite early birds here. It would not be a surprise to people who constantly read this thread that I am a fan of the first John Wick movie. It blindsided me. So, my expectation for the second movie is high. So, did someone kill his cat this time round? Not quite. From a story point of view, this movie took some risk. It really tried to pay homage to the first and then own the second movie... and it feels like staging for a third, and that was just too transparent throughout this movie, and where I think hurt the movie. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Action fans will not be disappointed Censors did not butcher this So, if you are a fan of the first, you will appreciate this. QUOTE(Mov_freak @ May 15 2019, 12:55 AM) John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019) Haha same question thrown to tom cruise and mission impossible 7Just so everyone is on the same page, Parabellum is Latin for be prepared for war. The movie is aptly named, if you asked me. Director Chad Stahelski, what can I say about him? He was a stunt man in The Matirc (1999) and learnt the art of movie story telling from The Wachowski Brothers. Not only the art of storytelling (which, based on their last few works, the The Wachowski Brothers/Sisters themsleves had forgotten how to...) also the art of movie universe creation. Which leads me to John Wick. The first movie is the hardest. Why? You had to create the universe, the characters, the rules and whether the general viewing audience to take to your concepts. Once that is established, in John Wick 2, they had to expended the movie universe. Most of you know that sequels rarely work. If you give the audience what they want (more of part one) they will accuse you of pandering to the masses. If you change things on they, they will yell sacrilege. So, as I had said, not easy. You have to find a middle ground and Chad Stahelski found the middle path for the John Wick 1 & 2. So how did he fare in the third movie? In a nutshell, good. The movie universe is expended yet again. If you like violence in your movie, boy do I have a movie for you. Most characters from the previous movies return (except for the beagle.... poor puppy) Everything here works. The downside is, to make the action bigger, more explosion etc, the action was not "consistent" from the previous movies (I am talking about the fight style of Keanu), until the third act, and the evolution of John Wick fight style returned, and it was... spectacular. I have to talk a little about Mark Dacascos here. I believe he is one of the most underrated martial arts action star out there. He has got the moves, just unfortunately, he had not had luck with movie projects and audience. Based on skill alone, he should have had a much larger audience base... c'est la vie. So... did I like this Yes Will it be the movie to knock Avenger Endgame out of the No 1 pedestal? We shall see. Will they make another John Wick? My concern would be would Keanu be up to it (he is 56 yo... Everybody grows older.... not younger.. On the special note, My Two Sen Anyway another shout out to scott adkins as he also rock solid as good and bad guy and may suit his edge soon Same goes 2 the south east asian greats tony jaa and iko uwais QUOTE(6so @ May 16 2019, 03:06 PM) As a sequel, this is a better movie than the second one. This instalment greatly benefited from having actual action stars in it. Mark Dascascos and The Raid Bros ramps up the energy for the last action set-piece. Halle Berry another fine addition to the ever expanding characters of "Wick-niverse". Enjoy her action set-piece the most for me. Another cool bits are the creative kills this time around. I know you very excited but can you tone it down by not double post Pretty sure will revisit this over and over again. |

QUOTE(leenux @ May 13 2019, 11:17 PM) Watched the movie tonight and theater was more than half-full on opening night. Crowd reacted to every graphic violence - only 1-2 cuts IIRC, hardly important. 8/10 for me and 5/10 for my SO cos too violent for her - she cringed many times ewww ehhh aakk. Haha being grown up with cheesy action of 80s 90s i still can take ultra violence starting with raid series hahahaha Of course the one i cannot stomach is hannibal holocause type and irreversible QUOTE(gaeria84 @ May 14 2019, 10:30 PM) This round no pencil kill dang it » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by skylinelover: May 16 2019, 03:46 PM |
