Summary:
>Bought an RT-N12HP on 28/03/2014
>Came home and it is faulty OOTB.
>sent for RMA, received a new set month later. (assume it 28/04/2014) --- 1 month warranty dah terbang
>a week ago, the new router also start to face the same issue. thought it was just my phone. so I didn't bother
>yesterday became entirely like the first router.

Now I think I will have to wait another 4 weeks to get a new set, no internet, and have to pay Unifi fee just because their product has bad QC.

Can anyone advise what other routers I can go for without issues like this?

this is what I wrote to them in their official thread on Lowyat forum.

QUOTE
Dear ASUS, some time ago I posted here that my newly purchased router (RT-N12HP) has gotten a very serious WiFi dropping issue. Like withhin 1 minute the WiFi just drops. Was advised to send it back to retailer to RMA it.

I have gotten that router sent back and received a new router set.

To date, the router started acting up again. Does your product really have a proper QC (quality control)?

I started my PC which is connected to the router this morning and there was no network. I thought the cable was loose but no it wasn't. I had to unplug and plug it back in (the LAN cable connected to router side) just to get the internet working.

Your product is really bad and I want to return this router with full refund. Are you gonna tell me to wait another 3-4 weeks without a router? Are you going to pay for my internet fee?

My RT-N66U even better. After firmware update, unit went into emergency mode. Had to unplug and plug directly to PC to use recovery mode. Twice already kena like this. Really no QC.

I was expecting good QC since ASUS is good and known for that. I'm wrong this time.

Luck probably. But mine 2 out of 3 routers are like this (consider it 3 since I'll get another replacement). If it's just one, probably it just me being unlucky. But TWO. Impossible that unlucky. Gonna see the third one how.

Want a good router that never need reset , I can recommend you Apple's Airport Extreme , very easy to set up and never need to reset, durable as hell and look nice too, rm649. But downside is sometimes slow & range not that good . Resale value very nice also, now I also use Asus, but sometimes need to reset or off/on apart from that no big deal.

Umm. I don't even know what Airport Extreme is. I mean, haven't heard of it being able to support UniFi/Streamyx/Maxis FTTH. So........... rubbish as well.

Most of their items is rubbish and their CS is more rubbish.
Last time email with them like communicating with robot. Kept giving same answers but never answer the question at all.

I have to agree that its Rubbish for this brand RT 12HP. All the ads pointing toward strong wifi.

When it's base upstairs the room , downstairs speed dropped like hell and even have dead spot. Now i used it as extender downstairs while my Dlink is still being used upstairs. Its suppose to replace my DLINK but in the end it end up as EXTENDER pulak! doh.gif
Now i have to invest Homeplug pulak doh.gif .

If i have know this, i would not buy these Router. doh.gif Cough Blood!! vmad.gif mad.gif siapa mau beli, PM me. maybe its good if it's next to your TV or computer.

asus routers don't even bother to list out their reception sensitivity.
for obvious reasons, i believe.

RT-N12HP
2 pcs one foot long antenna,
but reception and range not strong.

RT-N12
standard basic router selling at cut-throat price.
dropping connection all the time.

nonetheless, asus routers sell well
noobs still buy them
because their packaging is impressive.

Definitely not. Next house about 60-80ft apart. Nearest is the house behind, their router probably 30ft from where I am now (where my router is).

No more house nearby that has WiFi.

Update: I removed the left antenna for my router, WiFi is ok already. Fukken stupid ASUS router. Less is more.

more votes equals higher rating.
not to mention those models reviewed are pricy.

Read through the thread. I have already highlighted that there's no other WiFi nearby except one that is from the house behind mine. Firmware latest, changed settings, I'm not an idiot. I have done the troubleshooting necessary. WiFi channel is on 6. What else you want to know?

The houses on the left and right are 70ft and 150ft away respectively. How many times should I repeat this? Can you farking read through the thread?
