QUOTE(mztang52 @ Aug 11 2016, 01:59 PM) Weird. You should get 10Mbps speed instead of getting 8Mbps speed. Informations were taken from your image. Not weird...quite normal for the line rate to be set higher than the connection's best effort rate. There has to be allowances ATM and other overheads which eat into the line rate. If the line rate were set exactly at 8mbps, the consumer would never be able to attain the best effort speed. Eg if your 4mbps connect were set to exactly 4mbps, you'd get 3+mbps at best. |

QUOTE(mztang52 @ Aug 11 2016, 02:15 PM) Ya. Of course I do know about that. Like TM UniFi ADV 30 speed never reach 30Mbps. But some other streamyx get exactly 10Mbps speeed when their ADSL status is almost same as yours. No idea about that. I'm getting the promised best-effort speed, so I can't complain. Will try to run a speed test again at other times. When I was on 4mbps, at times I'd get sustained dl speeds of 490+kB/s...maybe I'll get near or around 1000kB/s during the "quiet hours". Either way I have to be content...got no other choice |

QUOTE(GameSky @ Aug 11 2016, 03:31 PM) lol I think I got better snr rate than yours, if according to SG. Although mine 4Mbps Tried to click n view yr screenshot...only saw a black box. The thumbnail is visible on yr post though.http://www.speedguide.net/faq/what-is-cons...-margin-snr-355 And also line attenuation http://www.speedguide.net/faq/what-is-cons...attenuation-371 Suspecting not enough port as last time got TM called me that mentioning my port was full. But TMPoint people keep insist my area max 4Mbps... so kinda suspecting either port full or there was port rosak, but they doesn't replace it (happened to my friend).. my house to DSLAM distance is within 1KM only. [attachmentid=7299086] Anyways, no matter lah. Mysterious are the ways of TM's ADSL, as much a mystery as how they give out promotions to current subscribers... |

QUOTE(GameSky @ Aug 11 2016, 04:14 PM) lel lyn attachment rosak? yeah.. those so called promotion to loyal customers...bullshit...blasted them with those (in manner way), and still left unresolved. ![]() OK I see yr stats now. Yr downstream SNR is 8.2db higher than mine, upstream SNR is 0.2db lower than mine. Yr downstream line attenuation is 18.1db higher than mine, and yr upstream line attenuation is 4.5db higher than mine. I think overall my connect is better. Do note that my modem measures in 0.1db, so "200" for downstream SNR is actually 20db, not 200db. |

QUOTE(filefresh @ Aug 12 2016, 02:09 PM) seems the promotion didn't state only for new customer, just written sign up at certain period get the promotion price. i thought include exist user upgrade to higher package? See https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...893&hl=streamyxIf you wish, try asking TM to see if existing subscribers may avail of that promo, and do let other 4mbps users know the result. Hopefully u can get it too. Anyways I'm off to pick up the hypp tv box from tmpoint |

QUOTE(filefresh @ Aug 12 2016, 04:09 PM) QUOTE(filefresh @ Aug 12 2016, 04:11 PM) ![]() Thanks! I got the box and while I was at TM Point, I did ask the staff about existing subscribers and that promo. The news is not good... She said that TM HQ chooses the current users who receive the promo, and that if existing subscribers walk in to upgrade to 8mbps, they have to pay RM160/month. This got me thinking...what did I do to get the promo price? I've never been late with payment b4, but I am sure many other users are prompt and good paymasters as well. Maybe...just maybe it's due to all the times I reported vandalism of TM equipment, open doors of those grey upright cylinders by the highway (I once wrapped one up in plastic and duct tape b4 reporting it; the door was broken), vines and creepers weighing heavily on telephone lines, and one case of a dangerously leaning pole due to erosion a few months back. Perhaps someone at their HQ took note of that....i dunno. |

QUOTE(kiritoffx @ Aug 28 2016, 02:33 PM) U can ask the nearest TM Point or electrical shop to recommend a contractor. Years ago when I had to change my wiring, I asked the staff at TM Point and they gave me the contacts of several wiremen. The one I hired did a very fast and good job. |

QUOTE(ddr3 @ Oct 28 2016, 09:10 PM) Go for the connection which u will be worthwhile for your needs, and u feel comfortable paying for.I can get unifi if I wanted, but I'm not a heavy user and don't really need the higher up/down speeds, nor do I feel ok with the unifi price...it's simply not worthwhile for me. Should you upgrade to the 8mb package and find it's not fast enough, then switch to unifi...there's no penalty in this case for breaking the streamyx contract. However I think I read somewhere that the unifi promo price just ended recently. |

QUOTE(westlife @ Oct 31 2016, 12:19 AM) When I was on 1mbps and 4mbps, i often torrented at the full speed of my connect, when condition were right.Don't confuse lack of seeders or many seeders who throttled their upload rate, with ISP throttling. And I am a light user, so am probably not targeted for throttling by TM. YMMV. |

QUOTE(ranger2020 @ Nov 23 2016, 08:45 PM) I have lodged a report regarding my internet speed. TM downgraded my 4mpbs to 2mbps. Then i received this sms RM0.00:TM:1-159446 We're trying our best to resolve the report within the next working day, subject to nature of the fault. A one-time charge will be imposed depending on the nature of fault. Has anoyone ever received thia kind of message suggesting that there will be charges where the fault was.from TM? I kena miscapped so many times (at least 5 or 6 times) when I was on 4mbps. Each time it happened, I'd lodge a complaint. TM HQ even phoned me to say they were launching an internal investigation...and that was the last I heard about it. Now I'm on 8mbps and one time miscap/misconfiguration happened...my speed maxed out at 2mbps. I lodged another report and it was resolved the next day. TM wants to charge us for on-site visits from their technicians if the fault is not theirs. OK fine! In fairness, we should be able to charge TM each time we have to lodge a report, and for spending time waiting for their technician IF the fault lies with TM. Our time, energy, frustration, disruption of service should be worth something. |

QUOTE(ranger2020 @ Nov 25 2016, 04:38 PM) I called TM100 again. the officer said my case now is handled by a task force (huh?). i asked them was that major and she said yes!!!. My numerous cases being miscapped at lower speeds was subject to an internal investigation (according to a chap from TM's HQ who phoned me).I told them no problem with the wiring because i just redo the in house wiring few months ago. what the heck I have a suspicion that miscapping cases may be related to those who offer "unofficial" higher speeds for a fee: lower A's speed and hope that A doesn't notice, increase B's speed (for a fee) while keeping the total bandwidth allocated for an area the same. |

QUOTE(JuneResources @ Nov 28 2016, 07:44 AM) Hey, does somebody know my internet or modem ok for the connection as screenshot below? [attachmentid=8149136] You can compare yr modem stats with the figures on post #1 in this thread. Your up/down data rates are capped too low. There is a loss in speed due to overheads, so in order to get 4mbps down and 512k up, your rate must be over 5mbps down and 600+k up in order to compensate for the overheads incurred. Explanation of DSL overhead with TLDR version: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13841 Recommend you call 100 and ask them to change your port configuration to the proper speeds. Optional (if u have spare cash): a better-quality modem could improve your surfing/wifi experience. |
