There are lots of that type of persons around. Either they don't care and put all in one bank, or spread out 250k X x number of banks for protection.  tongue.gif

To me, I still will put in those that give me high rates but spread out my risks.  biggrin.gif
*
First comment is kiasi... tongue.gif

Second comment is ... u rich tauge got so much to spread around. laugh.gif

On my personal opinion, I dont mind as basically all the banks are trying to earn as much as possible from our deposit. So good banks any better, so give us much more lah in %pa.

Thanks, this is my last post here. GTG.
Good to know Public Bank non-Exec staff now knows they have to pay interest for non-working days. I guess ALL banks will pay for non-working days nowadays and it is up to the individual to go fight for it if they are being cheated.
Bro, most of us have FD maturing at different time, and my guess is we will go with the bank that offers the highest interest rate at that very moment. So eventually we will end up having FD accounts in several banks.

To ALL: Happy Playing FD Musical Chair and May The Tempo Pick Up (better FD promos).
*
Happy Holidays Captain. May the best FD rates go up with you laugh.gif

QUOTE(okuribito @ Nov 15 2014, 02:17 PM)
hahaha aiseh no lar not issue of boycott. If you re-read, you'll see that I dun think the "mass withdrawals" were due to news of BR's "interesting" deals but due to better rates on promo elsewhere.

Instead, i was trying to survey what ppl here think is an acceptable premium that BR ought to offer over & above comm bank rates. maybe some of us may have tipped off their BR contacts about this thread & hence BR can see our wish list  tongue.gif

btw any news on rhb's 3m 3.95% promo? Promo period 1 mth only? Aggressive  biggrin.gif

btw btw does anyone remember the finance companies of the 80s? a prominent one was supreme finance i was told
*
My better half deposited in the cooperative era and so far was paid up. I remember having a FD with Maybank Finance 8.xx% or was it 9.xx%. Got the snapshot somewhere.. doh.gif A number of forumers here was also from that era but paiseh to comment only..

For those who placed extra money in KWSP.
KWSP proposed that that eligibility to withdraw at age 55 to be extended until age 60.
According to deputy CEO of KWSP, this is in line with the gov policy of new retirement age of 60.
It was in the news since 2012 but now in the news again.
*
Can know the source ? I am depositing max every year , however dont mind 60 years as no intention of withdrawal. Treating it as my safe passive income for retirement. Imagine there will be huge exodus if it is approve, and can kwsp withstand such a withdrawal.

Hi not about PIDM but regarding joint FD account. If a person has a joint FD account with say, mum, with either one to sign. Let say if one of them passed away, can the other withdraw the FD before maturity?
*
OCBC told me that there is a sucession policy for FD. I think we discussed it way way back. See V5 page 62 biggrin.gif
Sucession or survivorship policy is enforced only on Joint Account with either to sign clause. See https://www.google.com.my/url?sa=t&source=w...igmXQ366_QzT_ZQ

However one needs to check each bank for its policy as maybe not all banks has the same policy.

Summon Deputy TS boomchacha Can be coordinator of List Of Banks With Survivorship Clause..

1. OCBC
2. RHB
3. Alliance
4. Ambank
5. Cimb
6. Hlb
7. Affin
8. MBB

QUOTE(MGM @ Nov 16 2014, 08:49 AM)
Mampus lah. Don't know whether can withdraw those funds under "Self Contribution" anytime or it will be stuck there until 60yo.
*
Ha..ha
Self Contribution should be contributed by those nearing 50 years old , so if any change in withdrawal policy, there is still time to withdraw using age 50 withdrawal of at least 1/3 total funds. This is because usually there will be a grace period before new policy is enforced.

MBSB having 6 months 4.15% pa promo..

min. 10k, refer front page.

you do need a CASA for them to transfer to your acc upon maturity. I had earlier already open one with RM20 for their 15m promo so hassle free for me.
*
RM20 for CASA then should be Basic Saving Account, just make sure its Option 1 meaning without yearly ATM fees. notworthy.gif
In my opinion going long term for 2 years and above is good decision.

So the basic guide should be RM20 opening deposit for Basic Saving Account.

Agreed that Affin 2 years 4.38% is the best deal so far, after that RHB 9 mths 4.15%. May have to go the 2 years route at 4.38% for now until a better one comes up. Just early this year was putting in BR for 2 years at 4.25%, then to 4.2%. So Affin 4.38% is GOOD !

Young Magic is a sifu in SA. Learned on the BSA with option 1 from him. Never know about this until now.  notworthy.gif

No ATM card or bank book, safe to assume it is Option 1?

I originally wanted to go to RHB for 9m but since i was in Affin and thinking why not, lazy to move around so much since amount is not huge. Might as well go for the best now blush.gif

I think they name it CNY promo and they run the promo till April 2015, seems like they are quite confident the rate is attractive enough till then. Or they are playing mind game with us laugh.gif
*
Why no ATM/ Debit card ? Then not true Option 1 , i think ... shakehead.gif
Someone posted open CASA at RHB also no ATM card no charges but not BSA.
No ATM card passbookless then how to check balance or perform transaction over the counter only is a hassle.

Those who expert with banks, do u think i can ask for 5% ? my amount 800k, can place for year or two and then decide again.

An update on using online IBFT (instant version of IBG) to transfer FD interest from RHB. It is immediate  transfer to CB. Logged in to CB and saw it just seconds later. Now I am a believer. The cost is 80 cents vs normal online IBG of 10 cents. Worth it if we need the funds. Other banks charges is different for IBFT.
*
It is using online account to transfer even can be done on Public Holiday. Maybank charges RM2.. mad.gif

QUOTE(MGM @ Nov 19 2014, 08:29 AM)
That's cheap. What is the limit/day?

My FD due at BR on 16 Nov (Sunday) and I withdrew on 17 Nov. Asked about the 1 day interest and the bank staff said no extra interest. I thought there is as per BNM rule. Or has BNM changed the rule now?

If it is a few cents or dollars, I don't mind. But this is more than that which I do mind.
*
Not all branch have the same rules. Usually when placing at banks, efficient counter officers will adjust to next working day. Thats why its a good practice to check maturity day before depositing and also to check maturity amount. Now after maturity, banks dont adjust what can be done ?

Benefits have been mentioned earlier by some of the fellow forumer.  Will be interesting to see where is the Rakyat Xclusive Servie Centre. Maybe Penang will not have one. Even PBB did not have one PB centre in Penang.

Young Magic & Ah Boom, did u guys also receive it ?

OT : Just a note on self contribution. Delay it until last week of the month as calculation of dividend rate start at last day of the month.
