Got a message from Sony Mobile MY, i asked them whether i was eligible for the lucky draw if my phone is not from a sony outlet. This is misleading...

Hi Wilson, thanks for checking in! Yes you’re definitely eligible to take part in the PS4 contest. All you have to do is to bring the proof of purchase of the Xperia Z3 along with its warranty card to the roadshow and you are good to go! Do note that any shortage of documentation will not be eligible for the entry. Hope this helps!

Just got one from Curve. But to my surprise the headphones are not as the one which comes in UK. Its the in-ear type and its a good headphones. Anyway not for me. For my GF. I am still happy with Z1.

Accessories available are screen protector, 3rd party cases, sony dock. SOny smart case is not available but they mentioned should be in by next week or the week after.

Since you have too many problems, maybe Xperia Z3 isn't the phone for you. I'm sure there would be other smartphones out there to satisfy your every whim. For instance iOS is very straight forward, don't have to confuse yourself over settings, limited functions but works without having to tinker much.

But so you know, there are 2 "Auto" modes. One you access by quick launch, one you access from the camera app itself. Both have different default setting, you should check that out too see the difference. I've never been a video guy so that's pretty much all I know about it.
*
Ok? So what are the difference in default settings? Cuz i hv used both and looking at the settings or lack thereof it seems the same...
I mean why would they further confuse ppl with "different" superior auto modes...

Anyone can clarify this?

im currently torn ..... i dont know what is SONY is doing with its camera... In auto mode video is capped at 30 fps while only in manual can u get 60fps....  in auto mode camera doesnt hv image stabilization and i dont even know if its taking a HDR shot or not... its still sad that after so many 'G lens" xperia phones , they still only enable the most useful functions only in 8 MP mode....
Yes video autofocus really sucks as you HAVE to depend on the camera to hopefully focus on what u want instead of tapping to focus.... Love the intelligent stabilization mode though but again that is capped at 30 fps...

Panaroma mode is easily the worst out of all the android phones i hv used... not only is the resolution low.... it fills in a grey area if you dont finish the whole sweep... wut the..

Slow motion is easily the best and even trumps the iphone 5s 120fps mode....

Basically the whole MANUAL mode and 'superior auto' mode is way too confusing as i am torn between using what and what plus what settings to achieve a decent shot...
*
this is my experience with the camera on my z1

initially, when z1 just release, the superior auto mode is crap. it took grainy pic like hell. i later found out that using manual mode, 8mp and other settings set to auto take much better pic than superior auto. and forget about the image stabilization. it's crap as well. i am not good at playing with iso and whitebalance... so i just leave all to auto

later as sony releases updates and till recently, i found out the superior auto mode have vastly improved. in same cases it's even better than manual mode. so right now i am using superior auto most of the time. if SA does not give me satisfactory pic, then i'll switch to manual.

on why most feature are only available in 8mp, sony uses the oversampling (i think that's what it's called), whereby it uses 20mp and somehow compress it to 8mp, giving better pic in this way and also smaller file size. Nokia uses this same method as well where 40mp pic was compress to 5mp pic, giving excellent pic. of course sony is still far from matching the camera quality of nokia phone. but if u really compare it, the 8mp pic is actually better than the 20mp pic in xperia phone

Oh I see since I'm using z3 then the superior auto should be more superior. biggrin.gif

I know it uses oversampling that's why it's 8mp in auto modes...I just wish that the mode detects the scene I'm shooting more accurately... Like when I'm shooting a dark scene it gives me the icon with the running 🏃 man instead of lowlight mode or night scene...

Not saying that the Camera sucks as I used way worse camera on a flagship...

Oh and I have this bug in my camera ...... A Stupid pop up window saying An App is recording in the Background keeps coming up when I launch camera... Restarted and Still there... Hope Sony releases and update Soon

haha... that will be up to u to confirm whether SA is better on z3 or not

and yes, SA sometimes failed to really identify the correct scene. and when it fails to identify the correct scene... most probably u'll get crappy pic. that's y sometimes i still switches to manual mode

Better with SteadyShot. If under Intelligent Active mode, it's more better but capped at 30fps.

I also took some shots at KLCC , almost the same exact shots as you haha....  I took using superior auto mode and it was meh.... not only is the focus off constantly it just overexposed everything especially when shooting the twin towers like the image u posted..  In auto mode isnt it suppose to be able to achieve up to 12800 ISO?  even in super low light it still end up taking at around 500 ISO.... WTF...

Seems like manual mode produces the best results... so much for point and shoot

I have been comparing dedicated point and shoots with phone cameras even since the W995 days circa 2008-2009, and even then the phone would beat some compacts in the market, seriously. Your superior auto is good enough, be rest assured. People's expectation on such small sensor in such slim chassis is getting more and more unreasonable. No other manufacturer can get such quality to slenderness ratio. You can't get the kind of shots I took on any auto of any camera in the market, trust me. If you want uncompromised image quality you simply have to work for it wink.gif

Z3 Dual has this bundle. This model is not officially available in Malaysia, so only AP sets have it.

Guys, do anyone of you encountered the WiFi dropping issue on Z3? Just got my phone today but the dropping issue really annoyed me a lot!
