usman harun terrorist!

They are remembered for willingness to follow order and accept punishment as soldiers. Not remembered for their acts.

It's unfortunate that civilians were killed, all the fault belong to their commanders. Just like those US commanders that ordered specific attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan that cause many thousands of innocent civilians killed.

Usman and Harun were only soldiers, they didn't have any desire to kill civilians. Just followed orders.

both the perpetrator and the instigator should be condemn.. act of terrorism was executed without uniform... on a civilian building, memang ada civilian mati

same for suicide bombers, same for war mongering american troops, same for ww2 japanese n nazi soldiers.. same for kiram aswell
*
A country sees its soldiers in a different way. Many killed US soldiers who had perpetrated some questionable acts in Afghanistan and Iraq are also considered heroes by many Americans. Other countries also do the same.

It isn't easy to explain this phenomenon to people from other countries.

Indonesians currently don't blame Singapore for the executions of Usman Harun, because Singapore has the right to perform the execution. B

Usman and Harun are still a symbol of steadfastness and willingness to follow orders. It may be confusing, but both of them are respected for their life sacrifice, regardless of what they did.

have to agree with this..captain of USS Vincennes shot down plane full of civilians, balik US dpt medal...

If you check the news that I include with the post...the Indonesian government is sensible enough to ban any press coverage of KRI Usman Harun. Both ships arrived on Saturday and when this news is published...it is believed that both ships have cleared the Malacca strait and on their way to Surabaya.

KRI Usman Harun will be assigned in Armatim, the Eastern Fleet

No need for unnecessary political tensions

Ya, I heard about this earlier this year. If it is 12,000 ton ship, it has to be nuclear-powered if it wants to have a good performance level. Ship that heavy if only powered by normal engines will perform like a lumbering container ship than a patrol vessel.

Or maybe it will use old steam turbines and boilers biggrin.gif

The Indonesian Air Force has released it's official candidates selection for the F-5E Tiger Replacement:

- Sukhoi Su-35
- Sukhoi Su-30 MKI
- F-15 SE Silent Eagle
- Eurofighter Typhoon
- Dassault Rafale-B
- JAS-39 Gripen NG
- F-18 E/F Super Hornet
- F-16 E/F Block 60/62
*
- Sukhoi Su-35 ..... problem with spare parts, some are made in Ukraine
- Sukhoi Su-30 MKI ..... Indian Su-30MKI has readiness issues
- F-15 SE Silent Eagle ...... Nice but expensive, not much cheaper than F-35
- Eurofighter Typhoon ...... Nice, but expensive and will be outdated soon
- Dassault Rafale-B ..... Nice, but expensive and will be outdated soon
- JAS-39 Gripen NG ...... Nice, but expensive, has short combat range and will be outdated soon
- F-18 E/F Super Hornet ... Australia has it, so what
- F-16 E/F Block 60/62 .....not impressive, just a modernized old platform

Performance-wise, I prefer Su-35....but unfortunately it has parts problems and operation/maintenance is expensive

Habibie and his son are developing R80...but built by PT Regio Aviasi Industri (RAI), instead of PT DI. Will fly in 2018 according to plan. A bit ambitious in my opinion.

The TNI-AD Leopard 2s photo was taken using a HDR photo effect.
The info was from the person that posted the photos. Unfortunately not much details of the names of those KCR-40s except for the KCR-40 with the pennant number 646 named as KRI Siwar as clearly shown from the photo. Looks like these 4 units KCR-40 & 1 unit PC are in preparation for the official launching ceremony.

Their names are revealed

KRI Parang 647, KRI Siwar 646, KRI Surik 645, KRI Terapang 648 dan KRI Sidat 851

Ingat ride sub pergi peru... haha cross international water and kacau here and thre.  Like china and russia
How do u define light and heavy? That term mainly for ww2 only. Now any tank is called mbt. No more medium, light or heavy tank except one in china. But most also are older version or experimental unit. Western block tanks are heavy and concentrate on crew protection,  eastern block are light and concentrate on mobility. Crew protection is often secondary hahaha
Indon leopard unit are surplus dutch old stock. They get it cheaply. Why malaysia didn't it? Well, apparently even it surplus it still expensive for our overall budget but the weight is also nother limiting factor. Not to mention our love for add-on improvement will drive up even the cost

T84 is almost same weight with ours pt91m. It still based on the soviet design t72 with improvement iinm. But we have been offered the mordern T90 but i not sure why the army didn't take it instead of this pt91m.

Singapore? Only a few units are based on island. The rest i was told is at new zealand, canada, Germany.  That whre they carry out intensive training while basic training is at sg

Now thre hardly tank to tank battle. The last maybe was at iraq between us abram and iraq old soviet tanks. Now it mainly as troop support. I could see why the army would not want to spend so much on a tank that are our pioneering armoured division. I was aslo told, this few batch will be our training platform for future more advance tank. No point getting the most advance tank but do not know to use its full potential,  right?

TNI-AD's Leopard is actually Switzerland-made Leopard that were transferred to Rheinmetall and then sold to Indonesia. It's called Pz87

The budget for MBT procurement is around $300 million. K2 and T-90S were first considered...K2 was deemed to expensive aand I don't know why T-90S wasn't chosen.

Then it was decided to purchase 50 Dutch's surplus Leopard 2A6 and Dutch's parliament made the procurement hard to achieve, although TNI-AD has minimal armored presence in Papua.
Then Rheinmetall offered 103 Leopard 2A4 for the same price, even better 61 of these tanks are being upgraded to Revolution standard

Actually Indonesia produces a lot of cars each year....

Not just assembly operation. There are also facilities to build chassis and engines domestically. It's Toyota engines with 80 percent local content. What Indonesia lacks is a national brand.

Sorry but that is not a Komodo vehicle but instead it is a Sherpa MPCV (Multi-Purposed Combat Vehicle) exactly the same vehicle that you posted as the French version.

The Mistral Missiles mounted on the Komodo vehicle is operated manually.

Looks like TNI will have 2 platforms of this kind of automatic AA Defense vehicle. The other one is the Starstreak Missile.
