QUOTE(champu @ Sep 22 2014, 10:20 AM)
All is not lost tho...since most of the big 4 contenders slipped up this week, so we can only improve from here on.

The following article summarizes most of what we fan feel;

Wake Up Call - EmpireKop
*
I suppose the latest defeat made all of us glared every weaknesses we have. I still believe we have a better overall squad in years. But perhaps Brendan's nievity in team strategy hasn't mature or progressed much.

The funny thing most of us feel the same (the linked written article) sentiment as him. Not that we were just nodding in agreement, but wanted to point out the same glaring weakness of the team as what was written.

I do hope BR realise this (been reminding myself I been saying this over again blink.gif ).

We could look at it as even the other top teams faltered this weekend but there is denying we are worse off for it is against a team that is supposed to have no business in defeating us. We couldn't Score, and we are leaking goals from all the matches in the league (bar Spurs game)

No point highlighting much we missed suarez as we sold him, got good money in. Have better average of players but it's up there that hasn't seen to lead us. (Rodgers team selection & game strategy)

Come on rodgers. While to me you are certainly not yet a mourino, nor a Rafa yet. Get back to basics n sort the team up.

The players now are far far better than what Roy hougson has assembled, don't let the team achieve the results as what Roy did, roy was utter clueless not once, but demonstrated in series of games. I hope you are not, BR. Fans can forgive if you have a bad day, but coming scratching heads for weeks

Lucas is as bad as it gets but i feel BR is unlucky with injuries to allen and can.
I would rest gerrard, moreno, balotelli sterling and drop mr goal leaker mignolet.

My team for coca cola cup Jones, manquillo, skrtel, sakho, enrique, lucas, henderson, coutinho, suso, lambert, borini.
Formation 433.

God bless liverpool if john glenson starts playing again.

Gerrard should not be guaranteed a start, i had doubts from last season that he can be our long term solution as a DM. nothing against the man but he cant run anymore...

Sakho - like hiding in his shell, dare not come out when playing for us, unlike the Sakho we see for france

Lovren - trying too hard to impress

Mignolet - just not the strongest of characters - we may need to go for Schmeichel Jr., mentioned about him a couple of seasons back - he should at least have some of his father's genes

Borini - that should be his last game for us.

Balo - will he ever fit our system? does asking him to track back and pressure opponents affect his game? are we using him to his best potential?

Lucas - afraid he is past tense

so far this season, dun feel the excitement... sad.gif

I remember last time Cara asked to be dropped coz he is under performed. Why can't G do that and lead by example?

West Ham game clearly shoed that we have an issue in CM/DM. Both Stevie and Lucas are past their best and clearly too slow for the robust PL.

This has to be sorted out urgent. Unfortunately Can who is the obvious candi to slot in is injured. Next candi Allen is also out.

How?

If Can and Allen are match fit, I doubt Gerrard would ever be dropped to the bench in a PL/CL game. BR doesn't have the balls for it

Yeah well, Stevie himself said that he dropped out of the England squad in order to focus more on the club and the champions league. So no, I don't think he has any intention to sit on the bench either. Be honest, when was the last time you see Gerrard sit on the bench aside from injuries and suspensions? Maybe he thinks he's still in his 20s..

BR needs to learn some time 1-0 win is good enough...

But if we win 1-0, the fans will not be pleased.. ugly win, we dont attack much, lack of chances, not exciting to watch etc.. :/

If I remember correctly, Rafa did it when he said he wanted more brain rather than passion in the game

It's a little unfair to single out Gerrard this way, but I understand why BR wants him in the team..do you see any other leaders shouting out instructions on the pitch? Aside from Lovren ( and Agger) the only other person who gets the team in order is our captain.

For all it's intent and purposes, making Hendo the vice-captain is suspect to put it mildly.

If and unless we see another taking up the mantle from Stevie, we're going to be in a helluva ride come end season.

when your 5 midfielders out ran by 4 guys, it's time to think about it. You can see Hammers keep jogging the ball up from their half to our own half and nobody stopping them. what were our DM? last time i check we delpoyed 2 DM in Lucas and G. And in the middle of it. we drop Mankiyo to sub in AM. Why the heck those 2 guys not disciplined in guarding players.

It it time to move on Gerrard gave all his best last season. I think he needs a rest, give Hendo a run in the middle. Deploy Couts + Sterling, usually they gel well together

Negatives I see during our last match:

(1)No proper DM to marshal the midfield
(2)Defensive backline does not communicate/ not organized especially during set pieces
(3)Firepower diminished dramatically, we need Sturridge together with Balo
(4)Was Borini in the game?

Positives I see:

(1)Balo behaving himself despite a frustrating game, working hard for the team
