QUOTE(yeelong @ Sep 1 2014, 05:48 PM) CRYSTAL PALACE: Mohamed Salah is set to leave Chelsea to join Palace on a year long loan deal Chelsea doin what they do best. Loan their player to hurt rivals. They don't have Lukaku anymore to do that. It Salah turn now...Were we lucky we didn't make the Salah move last year? |

I keep hearing again and again argument that we managed to challenge for title last season due to not having European football.. and we can focus on EPL... how valid is this claim...

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ Sep 6 2014, 12:38 AM) It's a fair point. I've always felt our performance level after a midweek CL game to be lacking during Rafa's reign. Would we have been able to cope with CL last season? No because the squad is just too thin. Will we be able to cope with CL this season? Critics are saying that we can't but the answer is we do not know. QUOTE(cherroy @ Sep 6 2014, 10:00 AM) There is some truth, but the actual fact the team outperformed and overachieved last season. I also like to think this is the reason... plus LS7 finding the net for funAs by the logic above, if Liv crash out CL early as well as FA cup, then means manage to challenge for title this season? QUOTE(itekderp @ Sep 6 2014, 11:19 AM) Some truth, as in if Liverpool were in the CL the previous season they wouldn't have been fighting for the league due to constraints on their limited squad. They're better prepared this season, much more strength in depth but remains to be seen if the league is what they're after or if this is one of those consolidation seasons. Yes I think by the same logic United should be contender first runner up at least if not winning it... if they don't then the argument just cannot holdI say United for the league, since they're out of the League Cup already. These bothersome cup matches... This post has been edited by farisq: Sep 6 2014, 12:03 PM |

Looking at article from ESPN I guess it is inevitable that at expectation is building on Sterling. Just look at the bolded part the hyping already started more so now that Sturridge is out now. Hope BR can protect him from the media

QUOTE(lcy851031 @ Sep 8 2014, 09:20 AM) We know this is gonna happen sooner or later, injuries during international break. And we know what happened last time when Hendo was out due to red card in M.City. Correct me, but as far I can remember we struggled to get 3 points after he got suspended. Lets hope we fare better this time. |

QUOTE(Rotuham @ Sep 14 2014, 03:20 AM) You are absolutely right man. However there is no personnel to play quick and compact passes.Nobody to make those intelligent runs and couts failed to make defence penetrating passes. to be fair Chelsea already have quantity... so they only need to add qualityPeople have to understand that this are things that only world class players can do on a consistent basis. Chelsea bought three players and look deadly while liverpool brought in 9 players and look worse off.Quality over quantity anyday. |

Funny that before the game we were not worried about injuries coz we have good depth this time... but we forgot that new signings also need time to gel... So last nite it was more than half of the team were new players. And if u take out Mignolet, it will be like 6 newcomers against 4 from previous season.
I saw mispasses, players not reading each others movement/passes e.g. between Cout and Balo, players not yet familiar with formation or his position. We need them to gel faster |

QUOTE(hfi @ Sep 14 2014, 08:40 PM) I reckon ideally BR wouldn't have started Markovic and Lallana but injury to Sturridge kinda forced BR's hands. And i suppose he wanted to rest Sterling for CL next week, i can understand that as Sterling is quite the star of the team at the moment. When i saw the teamsheet i was worried - too many new guys - 3 in defence and 3 in offence. I kind of agree... I think BR took a gamble by starting with many new players hoping they can gel.. and understand each other. Maybe Sterling was not fresh enough to start. But the decision backfired... I thought we could have done better if Sterling starts the 2nd halfI too think we have quality players but they were obviously not up to the task. Whether that was down to nerve or lack of preparation is up to anyone's guesses. |

QUOTE(carloz28 @ Sep 14 2014, 10:05 PM) "Hoping" for them to gel? Excuse me did u just say the word? Are you implying that BR simply throw 11 players on the pitch without any knowledge that they will play well or without studying opposition's abilities and weaknesses ? My assumption is.. that BR thought they were ready to play well with each other in competitive game... but that didn't happen. For me if Sterling is even 50% fit he should start... that would be less a gamble than playing most new signings at the same time. I donno maybe he saw something good in training.Damn , u maybe right afterall. Btw the bolded part is not what I implied... |
