I dont know if he the one who we should blame at first Steerling was guarding Clyne. Clyne pass and drift to the middle where Lucas is there. Steerling didnt keep track on Clyne. Johnson were behind Steerling guarding on the left side.

A trick pass over Lovren and Clyne were through. Johnson were running but it was too late.

Defended properly you said? I dont see the fault should be solely blame on him itself for the first goal.

You never know in football. Stranger things have happened. Borini took a massive gamble to stay and fight for a place in a crowded Liverpool team. It looks like he may well get his chance sooner  than he may expected. I hope he grabs this chance and prove us all wrong - it's a win win situation

Sturridge's injury could well be a blessing in disguise. He hasn't been in his goalscoring form and this forced rest will give him time to reflect and, hopefully, regain his scoring touch.

We now have a couple of true attacking midfielders in Markovic and Lallana, and the latter especially has a nose for goal. So BR has options other than his reserve strikers. He could either renew the Lallana-Lambert partnership or try out the Markovic-Balo combo.

I am one of those who believe that any good team must be built from a solid defence. We arguably have the most solid CB pairing in Skrtle-Lovren. The Terry-Cahill partnership is bolstered by Ivanovic and that's why Chelsea are the early favourites this time.

As for manure, I have a feeling LVG may make a bigger mess notwithstanding the staggering amount of money being poured in. Just look at their defence or..what defence?

Its weird isn't it when he can play well with France, but when he's with Liverpool, he is shaky, took so much time holding the ball, and commit mistakes. Hope he can gain confidence when play for us, and build a chemistry with Lovren, and the full backs.

We can play 433. Go back to last season when Gerrard and Sturridge got injured - we had Allen, Lucas and Hendo in midfield. We played extremely well against Chelsea and City, won against Spurs, Hull, Fulham etc .. that was all 433 until we had Sturridge from injury. Even then we didn't always play diamond with SaS in the team - sometimes we started with 433 other times diamond.

For me the 4 key players of last season were Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho. Hendo was important in terms of workrate as was Gerrard with his dead ball deliveries, but those 4 players were our main attacking threat. Yesterday we only one of them started against Villa and he didn't have the best of game. The new arrivals are all good players but unlike last season, they haven't gelled enough to play well together where as the team we had last season had played together for at least a year.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that his Liverpool side must improve at the back in the wake of their 1-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Liverpool manager was highly critical of the defending which allowed Gabriel Agbonlahor to score Villa's ninth-minute winner and called on his defenders to go back to basics to shut out opponents.

"It's still a problem," Rodgers said. "We have to defend better, that's where it starts. Just defend, don't try and be clever. Don't try and play, just defend and don't let them have the set-piece in the first place. Then when the ball comes in the box we lose the first duel. They could have scored more from set-pieces, too -- [Philippe] Senderos had a free header.

"Look at the last game against Spurs. We defended really well and they're a much bigger side. We need to be on the front foot more. We need everyone to defend in the box and that's something we have to be comfortable with."

Rodgers was critical of new arrival Dejan Lovren, who moved to Anfield from Southampton for 20 million pounds this summer. The defender was slow to react as Senderos ran across him at a corner, with Agbonlahor pouncing on the subsequent loose ball to fire Villa into the lead.

"I think you see from the goal that we need that consistency," Rodgers said. "They lost their markers too easily in the box. When you let the opponent get the first contact that's what can happen.

"Lovren is a wonderful defender, strong and aggressive, but we have to do better in that situation. The worst-case scenario should be that when we have days when we're not creative with the ball, then we get a point and move on."

well, sometimes you cant expect things too over. What I can say is players comes to new environment alot of things they need to start back from ground zero, which includes their confidence, mindset and also mental strength. As for Liverpool this year i still don't expect them for title chase because alot of players are new, to grind into the team need multiple efforts. Of course is only 4th games of this season, alot of surprise still waiting behind.

Lovren almost scored yesterday and had game defining moments against Tottenham. If the offensive line had sscored 2 goals we wouldn't be talking about this too much
