The review hardly mentioned the small battery 2300mAh except to say that it wasn't at the warning level, no graphs, no SOT, no battery tests. And the battery is non-removable as well.

honor 3c seems good.. i noticed there is redmi 1s, is it comparable with honor 3c?

Both have their pros n cons.

Redmi 1S gps shud b better since it's using the Snapdragon processor. But it only has 1GB RAM. Which means less apps can be stored in RAM, so it might take some time if u multitask, some apps will have to be launch from 0 again.

Honor 3C using mediatek processor, for normal use it's sufficient. But it has 2GB RAM, which means more apps can be stored in RAM. So it'll take less time to switch between app and don't nid to wait for the app to relaunch itself from 0.
*
I use before for a short couple days between this 2 device, I would pick Honor 3C over the Redmi 1S for sure. 3C win every expect over 1S except for the faster GPS detection/locking. Other than that, I found non.

PS. I'm talking with no-root / custom AOSP here. All pure average user experience out of the box.

Maybe Asus really tweaked it to improve battery life but a premium octacore+5" screen with a 2300mAh battery just throws up a red flag in my head.

Brand - Any
Price - 1k~
Specs - dont know about cores, smaller than 5' is preferred, ok with just 720p (one hand use), prefer good camera of course but not a necessity, >16gb
what i need - good battery life is strongly wanted.

Im an ex user of galaxy nexus, i really liked the vanilla UI and screen quality but the battery life is ridiculously bad, and the phone lags and crashes multiple time on a daily basis, even with apps like whatsapp.

Since u coming from Galaxy Nexus, I would recommend Nexus 5, OnePlus One. Would also throw Honor 6 into the mix due to the price. brows.gif

Vanilla Android Experience: Nexus 5, OnePlus One, Moto G 2014, Moto G LTE.
Battery Life: OnePlus One > Honor 6 or Moto G LTE or Moto G 2014 ; Nexus 5 still have to charge twice a day if you are heavy user.

Pick either Redmi Note 3G or Honor 3C. Forget about others. These 2 model come with 2GB of RAM with Good Battery Life. RM509+RM499.

No comments about Leagoo as I haven't venture into this brand product yet.

Going to try this again... with a slightly larger budget...

1) Dual SIM
2) Large-ish battery (2000mAH+)
3) More RAM (prefer 2GB or more)
4) MicroSD

Now looking at up to RM1k tops for a secondary phone for use when roaming. Any recommendations? Faster/more often updates would be a big plus point.

I really wanted to get the 3G Xiaomi Note, but it's like trying to find a unicorn in a kandang lembu in Bangsar. Just want to see if there any other options if I stretch my budget a little bit more.
