Thats why, If you don't intend to root etc, I don't think samsung is the choice for you since it's stock rom isn't that good imo.

If you just want to use it as stock as possible, I would still suggest getting m8 or opo or even the cheaper nexus 5.

M8 is almost similar to s5 in size. If size is a concern to you, maybe you can consider alpha or even z3 compact. z3c have an amazing battery life according to gsm arena.

In Malaysia LTE speeds are still well below of the maximum of 3G. And there won't be much difference in raw bandwidth in the medium term. The bigger difference is smaller latency of 4G, it could be a minor matter depending on how much you use your phone to surf and whether the small difference is very noticeable to you.

I really doubt 3G is going to be obsolete anytime soon in Malaysia say in 5-10 years. Msian telecoms companies are reusing 2G spectrum for 3G instead of using the 2100 allocation. And now it seems that they are going to refarm 2G spectrum again for 4G because the costs of rolling out at 2600 is much greater. This tells me that Malaysia telco companies are hurting in the pocket for network upgrades and 2/3G will be around for a long time.

16Gb is alot by current standards. Apps are generally just a few Mb in size, used to be below 1Mb. Games are much larger due for obvious reasons. There used to be workarounds (pre kitkat) by allowing apps to run from sd cards.

A516 is better than A396 imo. higher RAM, higher ROM, better back camera, higher battery capacity. Found that satugadget is selling it at RM249 ni.

If u have the budget, I think A516 is better than A396.

Btw, I think u misquoted A396 prize? It shud be around less than RM200 according to lelong.

Not sure how gud is satugadget's after sales service. But for a peace of mind, I think better purchase at a store near u. Then if anything happen, easier for u to claim warranty too. Coz if u buy from satugadget, I afraid they'll ask u to bear the postage fees.

A516 would b a gud back up phone. Just use for normal call and whatsapp shud b fine.

you can add one plus one to the list. But the screen might be too big for you. opo is a good phone for it's price.

Smooth, good software support : nexus 5, moto x ( not sure about moto x battery life but nexus 5 battery life is so so. )

Mi 3 no idea but doubt it will be as smooth as nexus/moto x/ opo.

Those Lenovo low end models only have a fixed focus camera with no LED. Huawei at that price point have auto focusing+led.

Reason is because I think Z1 might not be a good android for 1st time android users coming from iphone. If not maybe can wait for xperia Z3 or Z3 compact?

if ur worried bout build quality, i think it's better for u to hands on for the device 1st. Molest it kao kao then only buy it, whether online or a shop near u. After hands on, u might have a better idea on the build quality.
