When I interviewed candidates I never make them do those tests. The ones I hire was able to do the work anyway so it wasn't an issue.

Wished all my interviewers have your mindset. definitely agree with your points. I don't fancy interviewers that judge a candidate based on whether he/she still remember the language syntax/detailed implementation of some data structure/algo that one has studied like eons ago which can be easily referenced via google nowadays.When I interviewed candidates I never make them do those tests.
