QUOTE(FunkyMonkiBaby @ Feb 29 2012, 06:10 PM) Yup, started when MindSHop was at Uptown, when traffic was two ways. Also Final Frontier at Damansara Jaya (beside Public Bank) where I bought most cards and toys from. No I don't have another set of Marvel Masterpiece 2 specials. I have an incomplete set missing 3 cards. That's why I bought the a new set from ebay.Other would be Mindshop Subang, then DCM Enterprise (I remember da boss charges a fee for ppl to view his "awesome" collections in his room) and Comics Corner Subang. Used to buy trading cards from that comic shop in Atria and another one at Taman Tun (same row as Domino) but they closed down long time. Hah..maybe I sold trading cards to you before. I used to visit Earth 638 at Atria but didnt go to their new place at Kelana Mall yet. U got another set of the Marvel Masterpiece 2 specials? Yes I remember The Final Frontier (Davin Arul) & Mike of DCM Enterprise. Mike operates Comix Heaven in Selayang nowadays. Comics Corner both in Yow Chuan Plaza & Subang Jaya (Alex). I remember the shop in Taman Tun but can't recall the shops name. I'm pretty sure we've bumped into each other before or maybe like you've said, I did bought some cards from you or vise-versa Time to poison some more specials. Nothing extraordinary but hope its good enough. Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(mchw08 @ Mar 3 2012, 03:22 PM) OOO Thibert's art... nice. looks chromium cards... and i got lots of it with color fades on them... sigh. Arthur "Art" Thibert's art! LOLThat's right. The sets presents Art Thibert during his hey days. But alas, he too doesn't survive the test of time. He's no longer among the artist rendering any character for Marvel or DC or anywhere else for that matter. But my holograms re ok. My holos for Marvel Universe Cards Series I & II are having some black dots making the cards.. Oooo I don't know, looks bad? Butits a nice set never the less. |

Don't know what came over it. I don't quite like Julie Bell's art. She drew a girlish guy. If u guys watch closely, the face is quite ok but the pose is not so manly. But she's Boris Valejo's wife! Hahahaha... Maybe they are a combo; if someone wants them, its either engage them both or no go.This post has been edited by vavavoom: Mar 5 2012, 10:47 AM |

QUOTE(mchw08 @ Mar 5 2012, 03:00 PM) Yesterday a fren of mine told me that if the hologram is kept in box and not xpose to light, the hologram will get damage. its the reverse for chromium card, they cannot have too much lighting else get damage... Ouch indeed. Its very sad to know if you kept the cards/holograms/chromium in an air tight places or places where they don't see much light, then one fine day you decided to look at them & imagine the horror when you found out that some of the cards suffers the fate that your friend were saying.so now am worry on my hologram stuff as i kept them in boxes for ages , need to dig them out and see the damage.. the agony.. ouch.. Its good to finally know how to keep your holos in a better condition. Whereas it may be a bit too late for some. |

QUOTE(FunkyMonkiBaby @ Mar 7 2012, 10:10 AM) I must be the oil thingy on those special cards esp chromium that make the cards gone bad. My Image creators set specials all goners. Only those traditional specialcards produced by Comic Images and Skybox are spared. Samo Samo here with me. I on the other hand managed to complete the Gold Foil subset. Sold some holos but still kept some.I used to have the whole complete X-Men 2 color hologram set but sold off the set to fund the hobby. Now left with 2 magnetos. Heck, i even fed up to complete the Gold Foil 30th anniversary specialsubset.. BTW the 3D holograms on my X-men Fatal Attractions comics are still looking good. I'm not sure what is the condition of my Fatal Attractions 3D Holos on all X-comics. Hope they are ok. BTW, just bought this set from ebay this morning. Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(FunkyMonkiBaby @ Mar 8 2012, 08:56 AM) Kids now are into PCs and gadgets. Back then I was going to comic shops after school to improve my English writing skills ..lol and at same time buying trading cards. You reclaimed your Marvel Masterpiece set!? That's a 50 hit combo!!! Spectacular! Yeah.. Bought the set for nostalgic sake & I think I got it quite cheap @ RM68.00 (about RM14 per piece). I sold individual etched card then at about RM30 per piece Now just waiting for the set to arrive at my house. And yes kids nowadays are into PCs & gadgets (funny how it sounds sometime when we mentioned the the phrase "kids nowadays" cos we used to be kids too). Well for me, I was too busy looking at the awesome artwork that I just couldn't careless about the storyline!! |

Was in Penang last couple of days but now I'm back....
X-Factor #40? You missed some of the milestone in that series; namely #24 & # 25 - 1st Appearance of Archangel (one if not the most favourite X-Men of mine like.. EVER!!) Jim Lee #1 with multiple cover & a gatefold cover I think. Uncanny X-Men run by him was & still is spectacular. Purchased 1992 MARVEL UNIVERSE SERIES 3 COMPLETE HOLOGRAM CHASE CARD SET & 1991 MARVEL UNIVERSE SERIES 2 COMPLETE HOLOGRAM CHASE CARD SET last few days. Used to have them but some has spots on them & some was sold long time ago. Now need to look for 1991 Marvel Universe Series 1 & I'm back on track Here's how they look on ebay. Once the actual thing are in my grasps, will poison some more. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Yes I do have the 3 ring binder but I don't quite like them becos of the ring. Too much hassle to flip the pages cos sometimes it get stuck & you have to carefully open page after page to avoid such problem.
If we uses the one that I've mentioned earlier, its more sturdier & looks much better. Another problem I faced is that most if not all of the 9-cards clear holder after 5 or more years, the clear holder becomes brittle & I have to transfer all the card sets into a box or something. But this problem doesn't exist with the one mentioned earlier. This happens to my NBA card collection. If you buy Ultra Pro clear holder, you won't face problem of getting your cards stuck to the pocket but like I said, after 5 years or so, the clear holder becomes brittle. |

This is what I mean. But not all becomes brittle, only the top part. Maybe becos they are exposed to the room temperature or something. I'm using Ultra Pro but I'd guess even the good ones are not good enough to weather the test of time.

A card signed by Stan "The Man" Lee excelsior himself!! Nice bro arek. But I don't recognise the other guy. Can't read the inscription. The most recent Thor cards are nice too but as the word reads,"Recent". I'm more mesmerized with your older sets seen here.

Magneto Promo from Advance Comics, yeah I remember that one & also Venom Promo hologram for Marvel Universe Series 2. But alas, sold them once upon a time quite sometime ago but now trying to reminiscence that past by buying them online (ebay).
Outstanding Marvel Masterpieces inserts. Your Marvel Universe Series 1 hologram are awesome. I can see them are quite centered unlike some which are not properly placed whereby the sides are not proportionate. It makes all the difference when pricing them. The holograms may be plain but its still classic. Holoblast inserts are nice. Contemplating of buying them online - someday soon I'd guess. I do have a complete set of X-Men Series 2 though inclusive of the holos & 3-D Wolvie + the 9-Gold Foil 30 years cards. How do you plan to order Avengers Assemble cards? I'm quite interested in a box or 2 if you can order for me... |

Ahhh... Brunei. That's like a world's apart. Well its good to know we have card enthusiast over there. Do we have many people who shares the same hobby over there in Brunei? If not, then it must be a lonely place to be collecting anything right?
I used to tell fellow collectors that this hobby is called Trading Cards. We are supposed to trade multiple cards that we have for cards that we don't have. But since the market is relatively small, we had no choice but to buy them in boxes or packets. I've checked Dave & Adams Card World. Looks interesting. How does the shipping charges looks like from there? Do you encounter problems with your local Customs like sales tax or missing cards/boxes? |
