Speaking of warranty... what about the sticker on the back? Can pull off? Need to keep somewhere?
*
Pull it out and stick it on your plastic warranty card to keep them together.

i know this isn't really the place to ask this, but does fedex have many self collect centre?..  I live in Selangor and on their website there are 3 in Selangor , but it was far from my house around at least 1 hour drive.

i live in the kampung area so my house are kinda hard to find , even the GDex and Skynet ask me to self collect because they can't find my house. only the poslaju guys does. But there are self collect centre for Skynet and GDex that are close from my house , around 10 minutes drive.. but for me Shah Alam is the closest centre and even that is far from my house.
*
You don't really have many choices, either continue waiting AND call the center every day (pester them normally will put your package in higher priority) or drive all the way there to pickup.

Do call to ensure your package is ready for pickup and to ensure its not being pass to their 3rd party courier (GDEX, etc). If not go there, then package is not in FedEx warehouse, you hantuk kepala.

Can't la... coz the wakeup/power button seems not so sensitive. Sometimes press and no response to wake up.
*
Optionally, you could buy the Mikey as an alternative wakeup button. Its also replaceable when spoiled.

My wife's MI3 suddenly cannot hear voice from callers. Have to use speaker instead.

Any idea or is it hardware kaput?

Any code to test hardware failure?

But we've already knows of your sentiment and extreme disappointment with Piston, so you no need to say anything also we know lar.. tongue.gif

Anyway, these past 1 week, I've been using Piston extensively on my S4. It does sound great for its price that actually sounds good on wider range of music vs my XBA (clear sound, no bass) and RM199 dynamic driver (good bass, sound not as sharp). It has become my de facto IEM rather than the other 2 (good for their specific types of music but weaker the rest). Have to admit, part of it, its the price, cheap thus can take it all over, if spoil also can replace easily.

Notice it getting better but also notice the placement of the IEM earpad is more tight now with more comfortable angle (found the right spot), that makes the IEM much more enjoyable. Still weak on high end sound (cracking a bit) but overall, its good. I do notice that music produced from my S4 via ttpod somehow sounds so much better than the ttpod (with same setting) from MI3.

My wife MI3 after only 2 months of use, the earpiece speaker kaput (seems to common to Xiaomi or MI3). Most probably some solder part came off or module kaput.

Tonite, midnight gonna go try the knocking and reboot thingy to see if it will live again. Either way, I would have to go for warranty repair either tomorrow or if temporary fixed, gonna be sooner or later.

Since SC does not open on weekend, have to take leave to go pulak. If have to leave for repair, have to take half day leave twice.

After so many years of using phones, this is actually the first I kena warranty issue with phones. As my wife mentioned in frustration just now, china made lar...next time, she don't want liao even cheap. Cannot afford to be without phone.

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Sep 2 2014, 07:13 PM)
You find it sound sharp? Hmmm...

To me, they really try to sound like speaker. Therefore, you can sort of feel the vocals, unlike what you normally hear from a headphone/IEM. It is sounding exactly like what Im getting from my Edifier S2000. Its pretty bright too, like sparkles when you turn the speakers loud.

Try listening again, with your xba or dynamic drivers. You really feel Piston2 sounds sharp? Just listen to the vocals.
*
Not as sharp and clear as XBA lar but sharp enuf to enjoy the vocals (not clean like XBA tho).

Both of my other IEM are noticeably better in their respective field but as mentioned, at this price, both of them have their weakness (meanings not balance enuf for both clarity and bass). For layman ears (not audiophile), Piston sound sharp enuf, adequately clear (not those superb clear lar).

Ya, its "bright" with "sparkles" or should I say "breaking" when turning it loud. So at high range, it's quite bad but at mid range and low end, not bad and covers a wide range of music adequately.

Maybe my ears and tasted in IEM is not that particular sensitive, but keep thinking at RM50, its giving me the best bang for bucks for the balance of audio and bass it produced. Currently I prefer it over my other 2 IEM unless I specifically listen to a whole range of certain types of music only (ie...instrumental ->xba)..

The sound is fun, because it sounds very lively... almost speaker-like.

Yes, the way you put it....I think that's how I feel. It does sounds fun. Love it and taking it around in my bag now. At RM50, its a joy to use them, even if kena heat and spoil, I can afford to get another one (already do have a china Piston as backup)

So you have both M'sia and China ones? What's your comment on their comparison against each other? Which one do you prefer?
*
Honestly it sounds the same to me when I compared them when I first tested Malaysian version. I did not compare it for long before I chunk the china version back into the chocolate smelling box.

Wonder is it placebo effect for those that think both version sounds differently?

Antutu can be cheated. Install CPU-Z and look there. Also, if you can install a firmware update, it should be real (I think). I have some experience with fakes, they won't allow updates, and CPU-Z detected that they have different specs than they should have.

IwanAGP: You bought the bundle one, right? That one doesn't have chocolate smell and has different packaging. Mine came with what should be the Chinese packaging, and it smelled like chocolate. At least it tried to. Bought it at the same time as when the bundle was available, but I paid the full RM 50 instead of only 30.
*
I buy separately. Malaysian version comes with white packaging in English instruction vs China's brown packaging with Chinese instructions. Bought it on that Saturday special sales at RM50 as you did. Actually the smell is still there but MUCH MUCH milder.

I would be surprised if they sounded different.

But I think v2 might sound different if that's what you have. It's rated at 13ohm vs 16ohm for the current v2.1
*
Both my versions are 2.1 with clip and L/R on the iem itself. Maybe some really is having version 2.0 instead. That's why mine sound the same.

Bought for rm850 for 64gb ver..
Before buy i ask him wether this ap or ori..
He confidently said it ori n no ap...
*
Xiaomi only officially bring in 16GB version. 64GB already confirm is AP, so no way he does not know its not AP. In this case, its not even XIaomi. You've been screwed. Only way is go to the store and if he screws you, try exchange an original 16GB official MI3 and treat the difference as a lost for lesson learned.

Yups, 1Gadget sells all ori phones but AP set since it's sourced from other countries.

Bought few phones, even mipad from them  tongue.gif

Flashing is easy, in fact the ROMs in xiaomi.eu is more English-friendly  cool2.gif
*
If he used it for work, its better to get from Mi.com for Malaysian stable rom. Unlike privately used phones, phone utilized heavily for work usually requires stability more than anything. Buying AP unit still requires flashing, although easy is still confusing if one is not familiar or interested to play with different OS.

Hi Sifus,

Just a quick advice, I recently lost my phone Samsung Galaxy S4 and I'm looking to find a replacement and curious if the Mi3 will fit the bill as an upgrade with its low price point or should I stay away from it? Other xiaomi models are out of stock and I need replacement asap.

ThankS!
*
Speed increment, yes. OS looks and fun, yes. Other than that, I still think Samsung high end models has an edge. Even music output also I think S4 had an edge.

Is your S4 a 4G model or 3G? If 3G, still acceptable, if 4G, overall I think MI3 is inferior in quality and usage. So it is not really an upgrade. If MI4 4G arrived, then I would say its an upgrade.

If price is a big deal for you, then it is acceptable replacement. If not, I would look at other manufacturer's high end model instead.

Mikey don't really work well with my mi3. need to press more than once just to wake up the phone. sometimes more than thrice. when trying to turn the screen off,  it instead increases the volume. don't know if my Mikey is faulty or what...
*
Are using the English or Chinese apps? If English, try switch to Chinese. If cannot read also never mind as long as you understand the icons just like the English one. Chinese app tends to have less or no delay vs English app.

I use Chinese app. I have 2 Mikey and both work this way. if they are really faulty then I am very unlucky I guess
*
I'm currently using the latest version 1.8. For MI3, use as usual. For S4, I used it as dust protector for the jack. Also looks very good blending with my SGP Slim Armor View.

1.8 has the capability of switching the app off and treat mikey as dust cover (no key activation). In this mode, the click serve similar to iem song start/stop, 2 click for next song, 3 click for previous song. Loves it coz mikey no longer makan my batt in background in this mode.

Since its new. I would advice to do factory reset after update to V23. Then only install new apps. It will has less problem that way.
