Try GearCm. It is stable for me. Haven't tried gearcm 12, but the dev has change it from beta to stable recently.

phew.. i just hard reset my s4..
backed up phone using kies, and then restore it back..
just that it didn't 100% restore my phone exactly like before.
still have to arrange the icon, resetting my apps.. lucky i dont use many app.

not sure if if fault or not, but at least phone still ok

anyway,
1. my phone doesnt have that "life companion" normal font.
does that mean mine is different rom? I noticed after i hardreset, the first language my phone selected is Chinese/mandarin.

2. do you guys update samsung link? because i'm afraid it will bring lot of bloatware

1)When you perform a hard reset, the phone will automatically reloads its original FW. So the region your type of fw depends on where your phone originates from.

2)Yes, if not necessary, just ignore Samsung links as it brings along a lot of unused apps.

3) No matter if you backup and do a complete restore, some apps are resetted and you will need to set it up again.

i think last time i updated samsung link, if not mistaken,
it brought together 10 useless app like print direct, podcast, bar code reader etc..
so annoying because i needed to manually update app instead of update all.
maybe just disable it because i use AirDroid to transfer file via wifi anyway.

I just wish that the restore backup will actually restore my icon arrangement and my setting preferences. too much too ask?
but still good anyway, fresh reset, fresh arrangment.

It wouldn't install your previous setting, everything need to re-arrange and furthermore you need to go one more round to update all default apps to latest if you using it otherwise just disable it.

It just wont restore everything to exactly the way it was before.

If apps are not used, you can try disabling it to free up memory.

A complete reset will make the phone feels like new. Like bringing a new leash of life to it.

anyway, i realised, before this, i could use waze, google maps, fb/insta check in without turning on GPS.
the phone still can detect location precisely using local wifi,
But now cannot already.

Currently using carbon rom on my 9500, so far ok but recentpy discover a fatal bug, loud noise or no sound during call, this is extremely unforgivable, as phone call is the most basic function of a phone...ganna search for another rom soon...additional carbon rom seems dead in xda forum, no news, no update even no new post on its thread, i wonder this rom really got continous support or not.

I use samsung default email apps and can do all these, not the gmail..
