But I remember I read in other forum, our CVT gearbox is not necessary/recommended to install this thing woh?

Which one is true then?

The question is whether will void warranty anot...

Hey cskean, what are your mods so far?

QUOTE(fooken @ Mar 30 2007, 05:00 PM)
all depends on you la bros. if you're worried about warranty issues then best dont install any third party stuff.

Cut cost method is your current setup IMHO. you're using the radiator to cool off your gearbox.

So I'll add in another cooler n route it to bypass the new cooler b4 going back to the gearbox inlet. Theres no side effect installing it so no harm done. gearbox operates at optimum temperature. Google up about this and you'll see quite alot of ppl install them. Some feel smoother gear change n better acceleration while some dont feel any gain. just like your VS. hehe.

There are already a few cases where the CVT is starting to give problem after the warranty period over. The infamous vibration. So i rather spend a few hundred on this to prolong my gearbox. How true issit will remain to be seen/proved. I rev up quite often so thats another reason to get this.

Hayden coolers are popular worldwide.

Roy : im using volvo OEM gearbox cooler. not the pajero oil coolers.

So far no mod yet, need to save $$$ for my coming wedding.... Hehe....

fooken:
How much u install the cooler? Brand new or used? How long ago? Does this cooler need to service regularly and change the cooler fluid? Learning here so hope you won't mind i ask a lot of noob Q....

Thanks~

How much you bought your cooler leh? Why you only choose Volvo Oem and not Pajaro or any other brand?

How much is the new cooler cost? If the price is not much different from chop shop, then should consider to install new one.

Mine City Vtec only 2 months old, should I install it now or later? After more mileage?

ya, Vkool Elite really helps a lot on heat rejection... But there is no darkness at all after you install this tint, is just like no tint on it. Good for those who like it, but for me, I would prefer to have some color as it will look more cool and privacy~

So I changed from Elite to Vkool 40. Better performance than Elite yet darker than it. Now enjoying it very much. But hope not to meet with any JPJ officer~

Hey buddy, long time no heard from you liao~

Yup, I peeled off the old one and upgrade to vkool 40. And yes, it is not JPJ compliant.

I personally think that the darkness is still acceptable, at least at certain angel, you still can see the interior.

Touch wood, still never bump into any JPJ officer yet.

That means you did your tinting twice?  So rich huh...  you should have considered doing double-layer tints since Elite is already there.
*
Is not that I don't want double tint, but the 1st layer of tint is not done properly, got dust trap. So no choice, have to peel off and replace it with another layer. In fact, my car has retint more than twice. Not that I'm rich, but the outcome really cannot accept by me.

dust trapped in tint ? it's bad workmanship and u can ask them to re-do free

i hope u "upgrade" to vkool40 by topping up instead of full payment...

so is vkool40's heat rejection as good as elite or even better ?

coz some cap ayam's tint is dark but not rejecting heats...  rclxub.gif

its true that elite is not dark at all (macam no tint).... but i manage live with it....  whistling.gif
*
HELL NO! I'm just topping up for the vkool40. Even that is the case, I'm still getting a lousy workmanship~ If I'm paying for the full amount, I will definately shot them up side down~

I would say the heat rejection is slightly better than elite. Cause it is more darker.

Best is, I got more privacy for my ride. and looks CooL~ Hehe~

Regarding the FC for Vtec version. It varies from drivers to drivers. Also depend on the driving style, eg: daily routine, light/heavy right foot and so on.

I'm driving a Vtec myself, and my FC would be RM70 for 450km+-, I have friends who are driving Vtec as well, one can get RM70 for 500-550km and another for average of RM70 for 600km.

But bear in mind, I'm working as a salesperson, so I do start and stop my car a lot during working time and in short distance, where else both of my friends, they are working from 9am-5pm, mostly travel using highway(meaning less start/stop).

I believe you can judge it from here.

Hope this will clear your mind. If you really concern of FC, think no more, go for IDSI. If you can compromise with FC, then VTEC is definately your right choice~

Cheers~

Just back from my 20k service from Honda SC.

Do the normal service plus change my CVTF as well in order to protect my CVT gearbox.

In the same time, SC checked my EGR and realise it got some problem, so got a warranty claim for the EGR without any question ask. Bravo for Honda SC that keep the promise~

Now need to monitor the car performance and FC after chaning the CVTF. But right after changing it, I can feel that the gear change is smoother~
