Zoolander (2001)

Malaysia is mention here, in a way you'll never guess, and I wonder when this was release was it banned in Malaysia? (Anyone??)

From "looks" (eg Blue Steel and Magnum) to self inflicted wedgies (ouch) this movie is ridiculously entertaining.

If you have not seen this, watch it. It is a very VERY good comedy!

Yes, it is banned - in de mv we are supposed to be sum sort of communist country [probably to our vicinity to Vietnam/Cambodia..]

Ben Stiller has toned down a lot since those days..

His 'Walter Mittys' brilliant..

Color of Night (1994)

I recall not liking this movie when it first come out.

After all this years, revisiting it, I STILL do not like this movie...

The story is cookie, and I believe this is the... "TRASHIEST" movie, Bruce Willis is in, to date.

The crazy thing is that there were alot of talents here

Scott Bakula
Lance Henriksen
Rubén Blades

etc.

Yes, I consciously left Jane March out of the list of talent.

I suppose after Fatal Attraction, that kinda started a wave, and this is one of the results from the said wave.

Really really... trashy...

how to train your dragon 2 is not as good as the prequel.
the first 30 min or so was slow, took too long to get to the core of the story.
and it somehow comes across as copying a little too much from avatar - the flying movements, colors of wings and even the floating mountains.
overall, still very watchable. 3/5.

i robot is definitely one of the best syfy movies ever made.

three laws of robotics or asimov's laws... isaac asimov 1942:

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

anyway, i just watched hercules 2014. 2/5, poor. poor story, no character building, no suspense. pure crude force and smashing! rock johnson and john hurt failed to bring this movie up. same poor job as legend of hercules.

frankly, better save the money and get this one - expandables 3! thumbup.gif

just watched it in 1080p but non hd audio. may just get the bd when available...

the thing about this movie is it's like a party of old friends coming together... so, if you like good old fashion 90's action of sylvestor stallone, jason statham, arnold schwarzengger, harrison ford, mel gibson, wesley snipes, dolph lundgren, this is it. add a bit of jet li, antonio banderas, robert davi... bruce willis is the only one that was obviously missing. 3.5/5.

i see this franchise continuing as stallone seems to able to attract all the old action heroes and promoting some younger ones. he might just get jackie chan and tom cruise in the next one!

1) a robot cannot harm any form of life,
2) a robot cannot alter itself or others.

i m not much into drama but this one is good, recommended.

boyhood is a coming-of-age drama movie, supposedly filmed over 12 years with the same actors/actresses. as the title suggests, it is about kids growing up, not always in the most favorable environment and circumstances. very realistic, well portrayed. young adults and parents alike should like it. stars ethan hawke. 2hr 45min. 4/5.

A very unique film indeed. See the cast age by 12 years from the beginning to the end of the movie.

Ethan Hawke was in his "Before" trilogy of couse, Before Sunrise (1994), Before Sunset (2004) and Before Midnight (2013) over a span of almost 20 years.

The other movie that comes to mind naturally is the Harry Potters over 7 years.

i just watched this automata. disappointing.
while the idea is fine, along the lines of i-robot, the plot started ok but went astray quickly.
few surprises, many loose ends, poor ending. 2/5.
maybe as a syfy fan, i expected too much...

The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom 白髮魔女傳之明月天國 (2014)

*Ouch*

Really???

Seriously??

Is this a recipe of how to lose USD 65,000,000??? (You read the number of zeros correctly, I've double checked)

The first two acts of the script was actually decent.

Trying it to the Mystery Of The Red Pill during the Ming Dynasty is also clever.

Casting is decent.

And then the end of the 2nd act and the 3rd act...

And the ending!!!! What the...

Also, paying Homage to Leslie Cheung (who was in a pretty successful adaptation of this book in the 90s...) at such an "awkward" spot is no homage...

Disappointing...
