i'll appreciate opinions on my situation here. my car has 176k km on the clock. it's a 1.8T audi engine with k03 turbo (not Tsi). been using LM semi 10w30 but last service i changed to pennzoil fully 5w40.i dont drive much these days but i notice after 3-4 days the car sitting still, theres a lot of smoke from the exhaust upon startup and lasts about 20-30 secs.is it a bad sign or has it anything to do with switching the oil?

disregarding the smoke issue, i've been contemplating to switching again to 5w30 full syn.maybe mobil 1.thought lower viscosity will be better since i almost never rev past 3k rpm

exhaust moisture/water condensation, should be nothing to do with engine oil.

it got me a little worried because i read sometime back that when the engine is not running the oil slowly dripping through worn valve seals into the combustion chamberand accumulated on the pistons.upon startup this oil got burned hence the smoke.using oil that is too light might amplify this.

revving have little to do with lower viscosity engine oils especially when you're using good/reputable oils.
case in point, do dig my youtube videos and look up what engine oil viscosity i've used wink.gif

i thought it does.higher rev, higher stress, higher temperature, oil gets lighter..no?in my mind,at most i only be driving at 3k rpm, where the car already at 150km/h.at such rev, the turbo might not get hot enough to require xw40 oil.yes the turbo is oil cooled.another point to take into consideration
