QUOTE(alexkos @ Oct 1 2014, 11:16 AM) i just bought shell helix hx7 10w-40 4L at RM110 to service my saga 2005 model car. i felt conned. How much is the market price now? If u want cheap oil, always keep an eye on Tesco promotion. From Mobil 1 20W50(4L), Mobil 0W40(4L), Shell Ultra Helix (5L), Total Quartz Ineo MC3 5W40(5L), all listed here are fully synthetic and mostly is API SN, price range from RM129-149 during promotion. Those cheap oil = recycling oil is totally bullshit.

just bought 5 bottles of 4L Liqui Moly Molygen 5W30 from Lazada for RM160/bottle during 12.12 sales.
Immediately i went to oil change once i received, the oil is green colour, which inline with it was green dyed, so i 'assume' it is genuine. (Or maybe dye is very easy to replicate as well)
Previously i used Castrol Magnetec 5W30, it is cheaper at 120, but i found the oil colour tone is different (one is lighter than another) from 2 different sellers, i worry that is fake as i read alot of fake oil especially for Castrol, so i just change to Liqui Moly.
The funny part is, seller advertise the Castrol is from offcial distributor (even give the website), but when i contact with Castrol, they said only sell online through shopee official site, the rest they are not guarantee. Lol, it could be a typical bullshit from maker, but his statement can't help to clear my doubt.

QUOTE(jesserider223 @ Dec 17 2019, 05:06 PM) how is the car engine after oil change? can feel sudden quiet and smoothness or not? No. I didn't recall such dramatic change that caused by changing EO alone, at least for these 10 years i own the car. Anyway mine is 2.5L engine, i tends to believe such small changes can't really noticeable in big displacement engine. Precisely the feeling of changing 10k usage EO to new EO is unchange, but can felt slightly lighter in my previous 1.3L Saga BLM This post has been edited by coolkwc: Dec 17 2019, 05:52 PM

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Sep 8 2022, 08:56 AM) Not a Shopee mall. Nah i wont risk my purchase there. Unless it is shopee mall, different story Haiz, i don't understand why not the original oil manufacturer use a barcode system to trace whether the oil is genuine or not. Just a barcode or QR code that the user can scan and check at their website. Very expensive ka this kind of tracking system. How about this? Not shopee mall, but 100% authentic guarantee. https://shopee.com.my/Liqui-Moly-Top-Tec-42...ef-41c6fdacd06bThis post has been edited by coolkwc: Sep 9 2022, 04:57 PM

I used to buy EO from Tesco previously, Total, Shell, Castrol. But after that no more because looks like the selection is rare. The last purchase i bought 5 bottles of Liqui Moly Molygen 5W-30 from shopee for RM180/4L, for my Teana 2.5, currently already at my 4th time of final EO change so plan to hunt for another batch of EO for upcoming service. To be honest why today only i ask this question is because i don't really know the 'authentic guarantee' Molygen is so expensive at >300 per bottle until i ask my trusted workshop two days ago that a top tec 4200 now sell for >500 per bottle. Only then i realize the Molygen is very expensive too and now i started to suspect whether the oil i used all this while is genuine or not. The EO colour is light green as per normal Molygen, that's why i got no doubt it is not genuine. i mean my car still running smooth, FC still the same....i don't know, really hope i'm not using fake oil for all the previous services, but what done is done.

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Jan 10 2023, 08:20 AM) No particular reason, just that i choose to trust. I believe parallel import is very common in oil industry, if Tesco can source with cheap price, why can't other sellers too?
