Hello,

Is it true that:
- fully synthetic for new engines (less than 2 years)
- semi synthetic for 2-10 years
- mineral for older than 10 years?

Been using Eneos semi synthetic 10-40 for my Altezza (1998).

Contemplating to try Giant's Shell full synthetic engine oil for some time.

Advices are appreciated.

Thank you๐Ÿ˜

My 12 yrs old Jap with 300k km still using synthetic all this while

Previously using Ravenol 5/40 for many years until few days back decided try a new oil. Prior to changing noticed steering and engine vibration during stops while in d gear. After changing the oil+LM otw home there were no more vibration. Was thinking maybe my engine mounting which was changed 4-5 yrs back were beginning to fail. Anyway this new oil seems to give a lighter โ€œfeelโ€ not sure improvement in fuel consumption. Will observe and current mileage above 160k kmโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜‚

no worry bro, the oil is still ok la, at least the API certification is legit.

u bought from their lazada official store right? Chat/ask them to clarify on this dexos approval issue. If they ignore you, you may consider leaving a 1star rating with comment (fake dexos approval). I am sure the boss will jump up and down when see this rating  devil.gif then they'll find you via whatsapp/fb/IG/ whatever channel  sweat.gif

It is always good to follow car manufacturer manual as a baseline and also depends on usage pattern like city driving or every outstation on high rev etc.
Generally, my regular mechanic recommends to use fully-synthetic for new car (<100K mileage) or semi-synthetic (>100K mileage) - brand is a personal preference.

I have a Honda Civic FD 2007 (>200K mileage) using Liqui Moly MoS2 10W-40 semi-synthetic as used fully-synthetic and experienced oil level drop after 3-months due to high mileage car etc.
My other car (40K+ mileage) using fully-synthetic 5W-30 as newer car and reasonable viscosity for Malaysian weather.

Whichever brand chosen, it is always recommended to change engine oil at regular 6-months / 7K km (semi) / 10K km (fully) interval or earlier and safest to stick with global top oil brands.
I am considering to next try KIXX G1 SP fully synthetic due to its engine protection, value for money and also meets requirement of API SP for today's modern cars with timing chain.

Any feedback on KIXX brand or equivalent?

Am using them on Lancer GT with NA engine running more than 380k km that's combo with liqui moly engine additives. No issue or engine leak, engine revs smooth and quiet

Shell helix fully when reach 8000km it feels slightly less smooth, meanwhile castrol smooth all the way

Been tested shell helix fully once, then stick to castrol for a long time then lately stick to mizu

U pair the mizu with any oil additive?
